CNN host tries to corner Ben Carson on the gay flag in discussion about Confederate flag

Chris Cuomo is constantly trying to get Ben Carson to discuss gay issues, and he did it again this morning in a discussion about race and the confederate flag.

Carson has written lately that removing the confederate flag will only make people think they’ve accomplished something, when in reality the flag isn’t the problem:

“The issue is not the flag so much as it is how people think,” Mr. Carson, a Republican, said in a telephone interview with The Wall Street Journal. “What’s in their heart? You can get rid of every Confederate flag in the world but if you’re still being motivated by the wrong emotion it’s not going to solve any problem.”

Mr. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, said removing the flag…will make people believe they have accomplished something important without actually doing so.

“So often as a society we deal with the symptoms without dealing with the disease and we think we’ve done something,” Mr. Carson said.

He also wrote on his facebook that we should speak honestly about the murders in Charleston, saying that while not everything in this county is about race, this indeed was and we should call it that.

So because of his outspokenness on this topic, Chris Cuomo had him on to discuss the murders in Charleston as well as the Confederate flag. But near the end of the interview, Cuomo once again tried to force Carson to talk about gay issues, by way of the gay flag, but Carson was having none of it.
