This is a very interesting point CNN newsers are making today and it’s a point I find hard to disagree with, despite my disdain for the network.
And the point essentially is this: The emperor has no clothes.

Manu Raju argues that Trump could have pushed Congress to abandon this bill for a short term CR that would give them more time to get something more to his liking passed. But he didn’t. Instead Trump just rolled with it, supporting it along the way, and now he claims they ‘forced’ him to sign a bad bill.
What happened to the boisterous 2016 Donald Trump who said this is what he was the best at? As CNN points out, Trump claimed he was smarter than everyone in DC. We all heard it a million times, Trump saying over and over that ‘making deals’ is what he’s good at. This is where he excels above everyone else. He wrote the Art of the Deal, as he reminded us a billion times. But now he’s saying that Congress got the better of him?
Either Trump really isn’t what he claimed to be, and/or he’s letting other people negotiate the details for him – which would mean he was hoisted by his own petard. Neither of those look good for him and CNN is right, that Trump looked awfully weak today.
