In a rather contentious appearance on the Smerconish show, David Duke himself responded to the big Scalise scandal.

As to whether Scalise actually made the speech, Duke isn’t very helpful – he says he wasn’t there and his associates who were tell him conflicting stories including the possibility that he was scheduled to speak but didn’t make it.
He mostly uses the appearance to rehabilitate his image and reach out to those who might agree that the media is racist against “European-Americans” as he puts it. He even goes so far as to say he wouldn’t be upset if a politician spoke in front of La Raza!
