Senator Richard Blumenthal was at a commuter train station to discuss increased fines for rail safety violations when this head-smack incident occurred.
The Senator was standing in the marked yellow area near the tracks designating a “look out, trains might hit you in the back area.” But if the irony of the situation weren’t enough, he’d also sent this admonition via Twitter the same day.
Rail operators must strive for perfection when it comes to safety—125,000 daily commuters on Metro-North’s New Haven line deserve that much.
