This is just what the government needs, the ability to snoop on the actual whereabouts of us citizens:

CBN NEWS – The Department of Homeland Security wants to build a massive database so it can track cars across America through license plate scanners.

The DHS is seeking contractors to create a National License Plate Recognition service that would enable its agents to use smart phones to hunt down cars and their owners.

“The database should track vehicle license plate numbers that pass through cameras or are voluntarily entered into the system from a variety of sources,” the government’s contract states.

DHS officials said they want to use the database to hunt down immigration violators.

The agency is seeking a private company that would collect the license plate data from existing commercial and law enforcement tracking systems, WTOP-radio reported. Officers would have “24 hour, seven days per week access” to the database.

Critics worry the database could also be used to monitor the movements of private Americans who don’t have any record of criminal activity.

“Enormous databases of innocent motorists’ location information are growing rapidly. This information is often retained for years or even indefinitely, with few or no restrictions to protect privacy rights,” The American Civil Liberties Union reported.

Nobody has the balls to stand up to the impending tyranny as it intensifies day by day as we kneel by.

    • las1

      Nobody in Congress anyway.

      • sDee

And all they need to do is pass a budget and stop the borrowing.

    • http://PolitiBrew.com Rshill7

      Where’s Spartacus?

      Venezuela seems to have some.

      • Judges718

They have been deemed “unelectable”, “far-right”, and “extremely extreme extremists” by the erudite elite ruling class and the media.

  • Sentinel

    Obamastan. This is very worrisome.

  • las1

DHS officials said they want to use the database to hunt down immigration violators.

Didn’t they get the memo yet… there are no immigration violators in the same way there are no illegal immigrants. What are they going to call them, undocumented violators?

    • http://PolitiBrew.com Rshill7

      Abracadabra…Mass-produced citizens.

Trackin’ ‘em down to slap ‘em with citizenship.

      • lawngren

“Trackin’ ‘em down to slap ‘em with citizenship.”

Exactly. You’ve got it. And they already have rinos lining up to help –

I vetted Ed Cope (candidate for Cornyn’s seat) yesterday. He calls himself a “New Breed Republican”, and his solution for the illegal invasion is (stern look here) “Secure the border! No amnesty!” (wave large American flag here)

But if you read the rest of his plan, he would create a “guest worker” program for illegals who register, AND give them “provisional” social security cards, AND end all background checks on firearms purchases.

When you heat up that kettle of fish, it stinks very bad.

      • las1

Trackin’ ‘em down to slap ‘em with citizenship.

Ha! What a great line. I’m still snickering.

    • lawngren

They’re going to call them prisoners, and “them” will be us.

  • Carmen P

They get more brazen by the second.

Rand Paul, Freedom Works (and whomever else) are suing the Government over the NSA stuff. Privacy issues, and public awareness of these privacy issues, are a HOT topic.

So, what does Gumbint do? It doubles-down on gaining MORE private information on innocent Americans.

If I had a nickel for every item which could (and SHOULD) appear on Articles of Impeachment for this clown, I’d be a very rich lady.

    • sDee

You’d be a very rich lady if your company was one of those involved in the public-private-partnerships behind all this technology.

    • Laurel

Yep…that court created ‘right to privacy’ from Roe vs. Wade is going to bite them in the backside. I’ve always said that would circle back around.

  • las1

As a Canadian, I stand on my side of the border scratching my head asking WTF? Not even our liberal fascists here would think up such a thing. Can civil war be much further around the corner for you guys?

    • sDee

      nope

    • Laurel

My husband started saying in 2007 that we should immigrate to Canada because you guys are coming out of your fascist faze and we are heading into ours.

      • lawngren

Wish it wasn’t so darn cold up there….

        • Laurel

          But it is awfully beautiful.

        • las1

Yeah… about that cold. I kinda get what you’re saying… but -20 degrees Fahrenheit is still a heck of a lot warmer than 75 degrees Obama.

    • Darrell Griffin

A year ago I would have said after 2016 and before 2020, because the math dictates it….useful idiots + dependents on gov’t. > earners and producers.

Now, I would say it will be around 2016, when King Obama refuses to step down or before when they try to suspend elections due to the “civil unrest” that is coming next year.

      • las1

Bingo! You said it. Obama won’t step down… for security reasons you know.

      • Dr. Strangelove

I’ve been saying all along 0 will use a crisis, real or manufactured to take over, “for the good of the people” and now Rush and Mark are saying it. I’m usually a poor prognosticator, but this is getting scary.

        • Darrell Griffin

Unfortunately, I’ve often been in a position where being right never feels like much of a victory when it comes to politics.

This is one time that I hope I am dead wrong, but I know that likelihood is minimal.

          • Dr. Strangelove

Rush was on the subject a bit yesterday and he said that it could happen but he doubted it. We’ll see.

    • lawngren

You should begin seeing columns of smoke on your southern horizon before long.

  • sDee

This is why the House republicans are complicit in this subversion.

None of this would work unless State, County and local police cars have the scanners, and software to interconnect them.

Those police are being supplied technology and coerced via DHS funding.

That funding is borrowed money, enabled by the blank check Boehner and McConnell gave our dictator.

The Feds are taking direct control of local government through funding and grants.

    • Laurel

      Well said!

    • http://PolitiBrew.com Rshill7

Oooh, “blank check Boehner”. Good say sister.

Many are mourning McConnell’s munch money too :-)

    • Judges718

Who created the consolidation of federal power that is the Department of Homeland Security? Didn’t anyone see the potential abuses this kind of consolidation of power would create?

What a sad day for Liberty.

      • lawngren

I saw the potential, and I’m sure others did. The first time I heard the name “Department of Homeland Security”, I said immediately, “These guys will be the American Nazis.”

        • Judges718

I too foresaw the potential for abuse, but whenever I spoke out, I was told it was needed to combat terrorism.

What was needed to combat terrorism was better systems and controls on immigration and the issuing of visas. Also, warrants and surveillance of Americans who consorted and communicated with known domestic or foreign terrorists.

Just another example of the surrendering of Liberty for a false promise of security.

Did the DHS stop the Boston Marathon bombers? Would warrants and surveillance? I think so. These brothers communicated and consorted with known terrorists in their home country. The Russians warned us in advance that the older brother was consorting with terrorists. Why were they not under surveillance?

          • lawngren

Good thinking. You were obviously correct.

I’m about to go to my favorite restaurant and engage in some conspicuous consumption of a large quantity of greasy, “unhealthy” food using some fiat money before everyone stops accepting it. Goodnight, everybody. Pleasant dreams!

            • Judges718

              Good for you!

However, Michelle will not be pleased with your insolence, and she has your license plate number…LOL.

              Enjoy and God Bless!

        • Dr. Strangelove

Like I say, Fatherland, Motherland, Homeland.. seems to be a pattern here.

      • sDee

Who created this monster? The same guy who called islam the “religion of peace”.

  • sDee

“”Critics worry the database could also be used to monitor the movements
of private Americans who don’t have any record of criminal activity.””

That is precisely what is designed for. If DHS wanted to catch illegals they need only stand at a border crossing in Texas, or just find everyone in their existing data base who has overstayed their visa.

  • NYGino

We’ve now officially exceeded George Orwell’s worst case scenarios.

    • http://PolitiBrew.com Rshill7

We’re definitely in the book writing realm here, friend. It would’ve been difficult to imagine just a couple of decades ago. Now, while painfully obvious, it’s still difficult to believe, much less see, hear, read, and take.

Braveheart’s question seems increasingly pertinent. “What will you do without freedom?” I haven’t a worthy answer for him yet.

      • Bill589

One answer is, ‘Without freedom – you’ll do what your told.’

        • lawngren

Or the motto that at least was on NH license plates:

          “Live free or die”

  • Laurel

“DHS officials said they want to use the database to hunt down immigration violators.”

    Sure…wanna buy a bridge?!

    • http://PolitiBrew.com Rshill7

What style and color is it? :-)

      • Laurel

It’s a little on the old side, made with cables, and it is red. New paint though. $2 or highest bidder.

        • http://PolitiBrew.com Rshill7

If you’ll finance $1.71 the deal is done :-)

          Got any cheese? (just kiddin)

          • Laurel

            ROFLMAO!!!

  • warpmine

Still think an Article V convention will solve this?
It won’t. They’ve declared war upon the citizenry for decades. Are you just going to take it? What will it take for the proud people of this country to stand up start shooting back?

  • Army_Pilot1967

This administration is acting more and more like a communist organization, spying on its citizens in every conceivable manner.

  • http://PolitiBrew.com Rshill7

You know how when you were a kid, you had successive marks on a particular wall, marking the progress of your growth? Some of you can identify with that. Your parents might write your name and your age, of you and your siblings by each higher mark attained.

Well, the marks of Big Brother are speedily climbing another wall while spreading out in every direction…like sprinting kudzu mainlining Miracle Grow.

  • Bill589

Information about an enemy is a most powerful asset. In the war between DC and The People, DC is acquiring power especially quickly in recent years. Immense power.

I believe we must stop this soon, or we will never be able to do so.

    • Laurel

And the People are financing it.

      • sDee

        It is a Death March.

        • Laurel

Yes…and I refuse to go quietly.

Wrong wrong wrong. Be quiet – you can accomplish more that way. Be a termite. Be a chameleon.

It gets even better than tracking your cars.

“FCC looking at putting government monitors in newsrooms”

We now live in a country where the Executive branch decides what the facts and news are and goes after anyone who does not repeat the company line.

They said it before multiple times, they wished we were like China. Where they could dictate and it would just happen. They openly lie to the American people and expect and demand those lies to go unchallenged.

Woe is the news outlet that does not comply.

    • sDee

The entire media is already self censoring.

These cameras are likely just for “Propaganda Quality Control”

Thanks for the link, Darrell. I just looked at it and forwarded it to my contacts.

      Thanks Darrell

Scoop has it up on a thread. On FB, there’s over 6000 comments, and ain’t much of them happy.

Lots of comparisons to Hitler, Mao and Stalin…….not undeserved.

  • Bill589

Bank robbers used to rob banks, on horses/wagons without license plates (and with unregistered guns) – and we still caught them.

I’m not sure if we need license plates or not, but we sure don’t want to be ‘tracked’ by them.

  • timsrighty

It won’t be long until we’re all required to develop the dogma of “2 + 2 = 5″

    • Judges718

      That is already here.

Just one glaring example is Quantitative Easing, where we buy our own debt with more debt to the tune of 80 billion dollars a month. Otherwise known as monetizing the debt.

In reality, it is creating currency out of thin air. In effect devaluing
the dollar and causing inflation, which is a surreptitious way of stealing or taxing your savings.

  • Conservator1

As I recall, it wasn’t that long ago when Mark Levin warned us Obama’s coup d’état had already begun.

I don’t understand how monitoring license plates will be used by the DHS to track illegal immigrants. States like California and Nevada offer illegals a right to obtain driver licenses. NYC wants to go further and provide an ID to illegals that will do the same and this ID can be used to register to vote. Also if understood the article correctly, this new intrusion of our civil liberties is dependent on having a ‘smart phone.’

If true, illegals could leave their smart phones at home or purchase a pre payed cell phone when driving.

Also, the Majority Leader of the Senate, Hairy Reid, has been quoted as wishing that Obama would use his magic pen to halt deportation of illegals. How can anyone believe this program isn’t another ruse by the imperial president to collect more information on citizens like the massive gathering of data by the NSA?

This combined with the new propose FCC program to monitor how news is gathered and reported is very alarming with a president who has bypassed Congress while trampling over the Constitution. Obama has taken control of 16 of our economy via the ACA, has implemented regulations designed to destroy the coal industry and wants the power to increase the minimum wage by edict.

It appears the dictator in chief has a problem with our Constitution, but now it’s apparent Amendments I and II of the Bill of Rights, the people’s rights, is also under siege.

I’m sorry about the length of this comment, but I believe we should be very CONCERN that Levin was correct about a government COUP.

    • NYGino

Of course this business of “immigration violators” is a ruse and a lie and a cover up phrase to make it seem like something it isn’t. Nothing this administration says is true and everything it does has at its aim the overtaking of our country, everything. They, at this point, have zero credibility.

  • Swamp Fox

They will be tracking me going to the polls to help make sure they are stopped. They will track me going to “work” (there’s an odd word in the libs vocabulary). They will track me going to “church” (another odd word in the libs vocabulary). They will track me going to the grocery and “paying for my food with U.S. currency”, not an electronic freebie card (there’s an odd activity for the libs). They will track me going to my home that I pay for with the money that I “earned” from working my @$$ off with my employees… who also “earn” their keep. I guess they will learn many new concepts tracking my vehicle. What a bunch of Gestapo jackoffs.

  • NYGino

This is not an original observation:

    Fatherland…..Nazi Germany
    Motherland….Communist USSR
    Homeland….. Islamo/Socialist USA

They all sound so warm and protective, don’t they?

  • NYGino

“The DHS is seeking contractors to create a National License Plate Recognition service…”

Maybe America’s freedom will get a break and the job will go to another of Moochell’s college friends. No bids of course just fifty times the amount it could get done for and totally useless in it’s operations. Of course money will change hands, lots of money.

  • sDee
    • Judges718

Of course they’ll be back. They are relentless. Unlike the GOP, the left never gives up.

  • Dr. Strangelove

“Immigration violators” What, the ones who don’t vote D?
