Did a Michigan cop really stop a black man because his hands were in his pockets? [VIDEO]

Apparently a black man with an agenda would have you believe that this Michigan police officer stopped and questioned him solely because his hands were in his pockets. He’s claiming he was racially profiled.

Brandon McKean, the man being stopped, titled the video “Police state_ Why are your hands in your pockets_“.

Here’s the exchange:

Despite what Mckean would have you believe, there’s more to this story. Here’s the 911 call from a store manager that led to this McKean being stopped:

CALLER: THERE’S A LIGHT SKINNED GUY, THAT PASSES BY FIVE – SIX TIMES, BACK AND FORTH, BACK AND FORTH, LOOKING AT US, LOOKING INSIDE. HE LOOKS SUSPICIOUS.

911 OPERATOR: ARE YOU OR ANYONE ELSE IN IMMEDIATE DANGER?

CALLER: NO. I MEAN, I’M ASSUMING YEAH BECAUSE HE KEEPS GOING BACK AND FORTH LOOKING AT US. I MEAN I’M ASSUMING HE’S GOING TO DO SOMETHING SO THAT’S WHY I’M TRYING TO NOTIFY YOU GUYS.

Here’s the call that went out to deputies:

COMPLAINANT STATES THAT THERE’S A LIGHT SKINNED BLACK MALE IN HIS 30S, PASSED BY 5 OR 6 TIMES LOOKING INSIDE THE BUILDING. HAS ON A GREEN HOODIE AND A BLACK JACKET.

As we said earlier, McKean claims he was being racially profiled. But clearly that’s not the case. Not only was he wearing exactly what the store manager said, but the store manager probably called 911 because he thought McKean was casing the store since he walked back and forth in front of it so many times.

Here’s a photo of both the officer and McKean from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department in Michigan:

The Oakland County Sheriff told 7 Action News that the officer could have gone much farther than just talking to McKean:

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard says the officer had probable cause to make the stop and could have gone further by patting down and checking the identity of McKean.

The Sheriff also says he has no problem with both men rolling their cell phones.

“We have nothing to hide when we do our job,” Bouchard told 7 Action News.

But I’m sure that despite the facts, this viral exchange is being heralded as more evidence or racial profiling by white cops.
