DUDE: Obama secretly waives the INDIVIDUAL MANDATE for millions, tries to hide it from public view

Wow. The administration is more politically desperate than thought. Now they are waiving the individual mandate in secret and intentionally trying to conceal it:

WSJ – ObamaCare’s implementers continue to roam the battlefield and shoot their own wounded, and the latest casualty is the core of the Affordable Care Act — the individual mandate. To wit, last week the Administration quietly excused millions of people from the requirement to purchase health insurance or else pay a tax penalty.

This latest political reconstruction has received zero media notice, and the Health and Human Services Department didn’t think the details were worth discussing in a conference call, press materials or fact sheet. Instead, the mandate suspension was buried in an unrelated rule that was meant to preserve some health plans that don’t comply with ObamaCare benefit and redistribution mandates. Our sources only noticed the change this week.

That seven-page technical bulletin includes a paragraph and footnote that casually mention that a rule in a separate December 2013 bulletin would be extended for two more years, until 2016. Lo and behold, it turns out this second rule, which was supposed to last for only a year, allows Americans whose coverage was cancelled to opt out of the mandate altogether.

In 2013, HHS decided that ObamaCare’s wave of policy terminations qualified as a “hardship” that entitled people to a special type of coverage designed for people under age 30 or a mandate exemption. HHS originally defined and reserved hardship exemptions for the truly down and out such as battered women, the evicted and bankrupts.

But amid the post-rollout political backlash, last week the agency created a new category: Now all you need to do is fill out a form attesting that your plan was cancelled and that you “believe that the plan options available in the [ObamaCare] Marketplace in your area are more expensive than your cancelled health insurance policy” or “you consider other available policies unaffordable.”

This lax standard—no formula or hard test beyond a person’s belief—at least ostensibly requires proof such as an insurer termination notice. But people can also qualify for hardships for the unspecified nonreason that “you experienced another hardship in obtaining health insurance,” which only requires “documentation if possible.” And yet another waiver is available to those who say they are merely unable to afford coverage, regardless of their prior insurance. In a word, these shifting legal benchmarks offer an exemption to everyone who conceivably wants one.

Keep in mind that the White House argued at the Supreme Court that the individual mandate to buy insurance was indispensable to the law’s success, and President Obama continues to say he’d veto the bipartisan bills that would delay or repeal it. So why are ObamaCare liberals silently gutting their own creation now?

The answers are the implementation fiasco and politics. HHS revealed Tuesday that only 940,000 people signed up for an ObamaCare plan in February, bringing the total to about 4.2 million, well below the original 5.7 million projection. The predicted “surge” of young beneficiaries isn’t materializing even as the end-of-March deadline approaches, and enrollment decelerated in February.

    We’re living under dictatorship.

    Proverbs 29:2
When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.

    • joyfulgiver

That’s why my daily prayer is Psalm 109:8, “may his days be few, may another take his place of leadership.” And, I don’t just pray that for the man in the whitehouse, I’m praying that for every member of congress who is allowing the “fundamental transformation” of America.

      • badbadlibs

Awesome prayer, I’ll add it to my prayer list and agree with you.

        • nibblesyble

          Me too and Amen!

        • JohnCraven

          Ditto! badbadlibs! Ditto!

Joyfulgiver is right about praying for the ouster from Congress of all those who contributed to this huge fraud.

And the people who perpertrated this fraud are still getting paid with our tax dollars to continue as if nothing has happened even though absolutely no one under this latest fiat from Nero Obama has to comply with the mandate which has been indefinitely and completely revoked for everyone.

Sebelius is still on the payroll as well as all those totally useles beauracrats who are administering this criminal enterprise of Nero Obama.

Jolly should have won by a massive landslide but he didn’t because Karl Rove and Jeb Bush didn’t want him to because Rove and Bush are on the big government dole too.

We live in a tyranny that is self destructing in its own lies and deceits. Those who mock God put themselves at the risk of His Righteous Wrath.

    • Gene White

But it is a dictatorship that we invited, by our own complacency, of the world around us. All we had to do, was to open our eyes and see what was happening all around us, and we didn’t.

      • badbadlibs

We’re not all in the “we” you have spoken of, a lot of “us” tried everything we knew to keep this from happening.
We shouted, we prayed, we voted, we helped, we warned….there’s that “we” too.
        God sees the difference.

        • Gene White

badlibs, you and I have had many conversations. When I use the term, “we,” I am speaking of we as Americans. I know who you are. I know your beliefs and convictions. My comments are not meant to disparage your personal contributions to trying to save what is left of this country.

          • badbadlibs

            Thank you.
I know it seems silly for me to make the distinction, and it has never mattered in the past. But, what is going on with our country now is so awful, so traumatic and so hurtful to so many, that it’s just one of those things I find important.
I know you don’t mean anything personal by your comment and I agree with it’s meaning. Too many were complacent, too many still are.
Have a good evening, my best to you and yours.

            • Gene White

You’re one of the best. Don’t forget that. I try not to.

So Obamacare offically doesn’t exist anymore?

  • John Queue

There will come a time when America elects a moral and principled body of government and those in the media and in big business will find themselves tossed out onto their laurels and left with mouths agape and in need of padded rooms and straight jackets.

    • WordsFailMe

I think that Jefferson was right. The best fertilizer for the tree of liberty is the blood of tyrants. I’m done with politics as usual. There is not one that you can trust.

The first and second amendments, when they are exercised openly and frequently is the only thing we can rely on. Many of us have already shed blood in the defense of our nation and we walk the streets sheepishly, humble, just grateful to be alive in the USA. No more of that.

My dad always told me “Locks don’t keep dishonest people out. Locks keep honest people honest.” That’s the way I feel about guns, liberty, free speech and politicians.

I don’t care if a politician isn’t a Christian and he doesn’t fear God. He needs to understand that I and millions of men and women like me pose a far more imminent and certain danger.

Well since there is no verification mechanism, of course they can sign up, and it won’t be just in CA. But not to worry, their incomes are so low they’ll be signing up for MediCal (Medicaid). Ain’t it grand? But not to worry, they will be counted as “enrolled” and the numbers will look great!

  • Socialist takeover here! Now they are going to force more global warming penalties upon us all too! These tyrants in office today are the problem! They work for the lobbyists NOT their constituents! They are the enemy within!

  • MaxineCA

Well, ain’t that just dandy. The King excuses millions from the tax penalty because they can’t find affordable coverage….. hardship, policies cancelled because of ACA, yada, yada. Does the genius not recognize the same millions he’s exempting DON’T have coverage?

I’m one of the 6 million in the private market that got our policies cancelled. Ya know, those of us that were responsible and had been paying on our own for our insurance (and had perfectly good plans). Although I converted to another private plan (not through the exchange), the policy is extremely expensive (premium, out of pocket, co-pays, all of it).

All I can say is – This sucks big time and is only going to get worse for those that have not yet been impacted.

    • imatellau

Did you cast you lot with the president? If so congratulations you have been chosen as a rich upper middle class, SUV driving , too much electricity using, not enough tax paying, you did not build it American. Time for you to put some skin in the game, how else are those caught in dead end jobs going to afford their health care if not for your high premiums higher deductibles, and higher out of pocket????

Guess what time it is if you’re a Democrat running for office outside of deep blue electorates: PANIC TIME!

In other news, the Senate GOP might actually win a bigger majority than even they are projecting. Imagine that, the Senate majority might have to deliver on it’s promises come next January.

    • PapaLouie

I hope you’re right, but public opinion can change very quickly. All it takes is a stock-market crash, a group of corrupt IRS officials, an ill-timed hurricane, or a big-name Republican holding hands with Obama on the Boardwalk before an election to sway the vote. Republicans need to do more than kick back and hope Democrats continue to self-destruct. Remember that the media still plans to act as referees in the upcoming elections and moonlight as Democrat cheerleaders on the side. They see no conflict of interest in this because it doesn’t conflict with their interests.

      • imatellau

Don’t forget the George Soros owned voting machines.

        • clockwindingdown

That’s the big one, worked good last national election cycle, and that was just a warm-up!

    • No_BlahBlah

THEN!! we will see boehner and mcconnell LEAP into action and work for the people who elected them!!!

Until that blessed day arrives, “Cruz is a Wacko Bird!”

  • PapaLouie

Had Obama agreed to do this back in October, the government slowdown would have ended much sooner. One of Ted Cruz’s offers in compromise was to delay the mandate for a year, but Obama refused to even consider it. Now he’s delaying the mandate for 2 years. So there was no valid reason for him to reject the compromise. It was really Obama’s arrogance and stubbornness that caused the government shutdown, but the media will continue to blame Cruz. You also know now that any Republican who follows suit and blames Cruz for the shutdown can safely be outed as a RINO.

  • mcgurn

He keeps digging the hole deeper & deeper. It’s only a matter of time & the whole thing will cave in on him!

  • xlogic1013

Big surprise that another executive action took place. NOT! This law he initially signed does not exist anymore because of all these changes. This thing will implode any day now. We know it. Wish the media would warn our fellow Americans instead of protecting him.

    • poorhardworker

We The Taxpayer will NEVER be protected by a liberal/progressive/socialist/democrat! We are on the hook to pay the insurance companies “in case” his abomination SIGNATURE law isn’t successful!

  • imatellau

The lawless man in chief once again usurping the written law, mighty fine dic tator in the WH.
Just repeal the slave document known as ACA.

  • ryanomaniac

The original 5.7 million projected? I thought it was 7 million. Thats what the administration said in the beginning.

    • kong1967

The number they are using is completely bogus anyway. Only 10% of the people signing up are from the group they made the law for because they couldn’t afford coverage. I might have heard another number up to 25%, but I didn’t hear it all. The rest are people that already had insurance and Obamacare forced them off of it.

It’s a freaking scam. Man, I hate Democrats. They make people in prison look like amateurs.

      • ryanomaniac

This country has become one huge scam. Scammed here, scammed there, scammed everywhere. Makes me sick. I won’t even talk to an Obama supporter anymore. I can’t without thinking how much I would love to throw them down and elevator shaft. 🙂

        • kong1967

          Lol, I agree.

      • clockwindingdown

“It’s a freaking scam. Man, I hate Democrats. They make people in prison look like amateurs.” Those in prison are simply democrats in training, so yes they are amateurs, had they been professionals bobo would have them in his regime…

        • kong1967

Hah! Democrats in training. Good one.

  • kong1967

If I had a piece of paper for every time this man should be impeached, I would have a stack 6 feet tall. It’s unbelievable how lawless he is.

  • Sandra123456

All right, NOW can the Impeachment begin?

Barack Hugo Chavez Obama is becoming a dictator.

    • lawngren

Is. Not becoming. Small chance of impeachment, given that the rino party is too busy trying to crush the Tea Party.

  • spin43

March sadness! So many Americans concerned with ball games and have no idea we are having our Constitution destroyed by a dictator. In Kentucky, if the people were given a choice between our Constitution and college basketball, guess which one would be chosen. We are a financially and morally corrupt nation. Obama is actually building his own lawless country within the USA.

  • Sentinel

I’m having a hard time getting excited about this. We knew what Obama was: a liar and a monster. When he was reelected (fraudulently?) in 2012, we all had that sinking feeling that we were screwed… and we are. Look at how much more lawless this tyrant has become with his new ‘flexibility’. So, while this is evil and completely illegal, and it’s been done because of all the horror stories and their negative impact on Demoncrap chances in the coming elections, it’s not surprising or unexpected. Even the damned, criminal MSM ignoring it (as abhorrent as that is) isn’t unusual to me – BAU for those dirtbag, rag, butt-kissing, biased, illegitimate, networks.
What I want to see is what the Republicans are going to do about it. Yes, they are cowards… yes, it’s an election year and they don’t want to make waves… but if they remain mum (which I expect), then once again it reinforces my allegation that THEY are the enemy: Benedict Arnold.

    • $13245463

  • halfacarafe

We are still a nation of laws, we just have to check with Obama each day to see which ones apply.

  • Dramamama

Why should he care? He breaks laws daily and NO ONE seems to notice! Nothing has ever happened to him or his minions when they break the law!

  • MontyRay

This is soft tyranny. However, it begs the question:

With whom would we be more angry? Our permissive, flaccid Congress, or the Administration?

I personally believe that the GOP elite have no desire to repeal the ACA. They have a desire to tweak it and rebrand it. They are just as interested in control as the opposing party. We, the people, are no longer represented. Thus, we are in a soft tyranny. However, it does us no good to look only to the man at the helm.

  • Wigglesworth

Obama is also cooking the books on deportations which I already knew, but now they admitted it.

We the people really are losing our freedoms: One portal at a time we are being ushered in and through as the doors are being sealed behind us. Socialism creep, one incremental step at a time. It’s right before our eyes now (naked socialism) and we are accepting this process! It does remind me of the frog in the pot of slow boiling water (the frog knew it should make a move but it didn’t). What will it be like in America in 3 years?

The trouble with democrats is they live the “lie”……

This type of tyrannical government is what brought our founding fathers together to sign the “Declaration of Independence”… and the only way a government can be of service to our national prosperity is to keep its hands off of our liberties.

A nation that sits idly by, is a nation gone under (Reagan)…..

    • badbadlibs

Seems America has come full circle. She once rebelled against tyranny, now a majority has embraced it. 🙁
      Very sad.

This sounds too good to be true. Something about this doesn’t pass the smell test! Barry doesn’t do anyone “favors”, other than his own inner circle! This new over-stepping of the will of the people will not help his bringing us here in the first place! More Hogwash, please!

  • Why if this “Law” of his is so wonderful does he have to postpone so much of it past his term in office? Would be nice if some enterprising member of the press would ask this most obvious of questions. The good news is that regardless of who wins the next presidential election (assuming there is one) no one is going to want to start their term by taking the brunt of Barry’s screw up. SO would seem we are now done with this “mandate”.

  • colliemum

I hope all those who have been affected, from the start, by this ‘individual mandate’, get together a class action suit against the POS and his government.

A law which retrospectively exempts people from something which has already been applied to others cannot stand.

Get Mark Levin on the case!

They just babble anymore, they don’t have to make a lick of sense or have an honest word spewing out of their mouths at this point. It’s really stunning how they’re getting away with everything.

          • SurfinUSA

I don’t think she is getting away with anything. Democrats are running to the hills and even Chris Matthews conceded that the Dems will lose the Senate. Sebelius is still there because she is still a convenient fall person for Obama. Nobody is buying her b.s.

Democrats are so desperate they will try to mimic Ted Cruz by staying at the Senate all night to talk about non-existent “global warming.” They will try to do anything to distract us from the ObamaCare disaster. Good luck on that… won’t happen!

  • Gene White

The Obama Presidency was the first real test of what is generally referred to, as “The New World Order.” Could someone as powerful as the President of the United States of America, actually introduce Socialist principles to the American people, and would those people accept them? The answer was a resounding, Yes. They not only accepted his Socialist principles in his first term, but they elected him for a second term. I know, that is sort of like doubling down on stupidity, but they actually did that.

Looking at the evidence, on what has happened before our eyes over these last few years, I’m not sure Obama is the one who deserves the blame.

You have no doubt heard that old saw, “the government you have, is the one your deserve.” It has never been more true, than in this instance. This idiot did not vote himself into office. Sure, there was voter fraud, perhaps of a magnitude such as we may never know. But even the voter fraud, was motivated by people who believed in this so-called leader, who most of us find repulsive.

I keep seeing comments, that if only we can elect this leader, or that leader, everything will be fine. Changing politicians is simply not going to do it. Because politicians are not the problem in the first place. The problem is the people who elected those politicians. It think you would have to agree, that the real problem lies somewhere in that area.

I’m sorry, but the enemy is us. If you really want to turn this country around, and put it back on the right track, you have to change the way the American people think. The Progressives, or Communists, or whatever you want to label them, were smart enough thirty or forty years ago, to do just that.

They began with our educational system. They now control our educational system. It is as simple as that. It is reality. There is no point in even arguing about it.

They moved on to the media. Again, they now control it. I know, I know, you and I do not get our news from the Alphabet channels, but most of America does. A recent poll showed that the most trusted news source in America, is NPR. National Public Radio. National Progressive Radio, if you like.

I’m not posting all this to start an argument. God knows, half the things I post, almost always start an argument. I never mean to do that. Really.

It is just that it is getting increasingly difficult on these Conservative sites to state your opinion, without having someone else call you an idiot, while offering no real answer to what you just posted.

Of all the sites out there, The Right Scoop is simply the best. This site encourages the opinions of all, and tolerates even the worst, so long as the site guidelines are observed. It took me a long time to figure that out.
Because I had to visit all those other sites, and find out for myself.

This country is in really deep trouble. It didn’t just happen yesterday. It’s been growing for a long time. I am always amused by those who seek an instant solution. There is no such thing. It will take us as long to get out of this mess, as it took us to get into this mess.

Replacing worthless Politicians, of which we have many, will not fix the problem, although it might be a good start.

The real problem is the Federal Government itself, and the power it has given itself, over the last hundred years or so. Hard to take away power, that is already in place. But that is indeed what has to be done. There are dozens of departments of the Federal Government that have no right to exist at all. The Department of Education, would be the first I would do away with. The responsibility of educating our children, should reside with the states. Actually, most of the regulation of our citizen’s behavior, should reside with the states.

This massive Federal government is what the Founders both feared, and warned us of. Why did we not follow their thoughts and warnings?

i read all the comments on the various conservative sites, and they frustrate me. Because they tend to only deal with the current issue. Whatever new headline appears on the screen. They never attempt to address the underlying problem. And the underlying problem is simply massive, in it’s proportions.

This is turning into another one my books, and I didn’t mean it to be. Regarding books, I beg you, read Glenn Beck’s recent book, “Cowards.” It is at once, the saddest commentary of our current condition, and also the best explanation of where we find ourselves at this point in time, and what we have to do, as Americans, to get back to where we once were. With Faith and Strength, I believe we can do it, but we have to stop watching television and Hollywood feel good movies. Because there is nothing that “feels good,” about where this nation finds itself right now.

    • Massive voter fraud, especially in the form of hacked computerized voting machines. There’s that too.

      • Gene White

Only a small part of my comment was devoted to voter fraud. What about the rest, Guy?

  • Gowdy just made another epic speech in Congress. It repeats his talking points, but it also has the Gowdy Doctrine in it.

I hope Scoop gets it up so you can see it. It’s not the same as the earlier one he made. He takes it to the Dems. It’s a game changer.

It doesn’t get any sleezier or despicable than what this administration has been doing.
