There’s tremendous pressure starting to come out of the Middle East over Trump’s reported decision to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and Turkey is right in the thick of it:
TIMES OF ISRAEL – The status of Jerusalem is a “red line” for Muslims and changing it could prompt Turkey to cut its ties with Israel, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Tuesday, as US President Donald Trump reportedly geared up to recognize the city as the Jewish state’s capital.
Erdogan said Turkey, which currently holds the chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, would immediately call a summit meeting of the pan-Islamic group if Trump went ahead with the move on Wednesday, and “set the entire Islamic world in motion.”
“Mr. Trump! Jerusalem is a red line for Muslims,” he said in a raucous televised speech to his ruling party that was greeted with chants and applause.
Turkey, Erdogan said, would “follow this struggle to the very last moment with determination and we could even go right up to cutting our diplomatic relations with Israel.”
Officials in Jerusalem rejected Erdogan’s threat.
In short, Erdogan threatens to call an emergency meeting of the OIC (which has 57 member Muslim countries) to set the “Islamic world in motion”. Which really means a call for angst and riots in the Islamic world which would certainly put the lives of Americans and Israelis in jeopardy.
He also threatens to cut diplomatic ties with Israel if Trump makes this announcement.
I’m telling you, we are fast approaching what was prophesied in Zechariah 12 and it looks like Erdogan wants to lead the way…
2 “Lo, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of reeling to all the peoples round about; it will be against Judah also in the siege against Jerusalem.
3 On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it shall grievously hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will come together against it.
4 On that day, says the Lord, I will strike every horse with panic, and its rider with madness. But upon the house of Judah I will open my eyes, when I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.
5 Then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the Lord of hosts, their God.’

My guess is that Abbas is trying to convince Trump not to make the announcement. We’ll probably hear threats from Abbas in the news shortly.
