On February 9th, ABC News reported that the Alvin “A.T.” Smith was forced out of his job as Deputy Director of the Secret Service but was allowed to accept a transfer to an unspecified job at DHS.
Today the Right Scoop received a tip from a solid source that in the days leading up to Smith’s transfer, Hillary Clinton visited the Secret Service Headquarters, suggesting she may have played a part in his transfer to a plush gig at DHS.
According to our source, Smith was a disaster at the Secret Service and agents hated him.
He was also heavily criticized by Rep. Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House Oversight Committee for being at the “center of bad decisions in a sequence of Secret Service scandals,” according to ABC News, and both Chaffetz and the ranking member of the Oversight Committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings, applauded the Secret Service for forcing Smith out.
A.T. Smith and Hillary Clinton have very strong ties. When Hillary was the first lady back in the 1990s, Smith was the head of her protective detail, according to the Washington Post.
Smith also married into the Clinton family by marrying former President Bill Clinton’s cousin, Catherine Cornelius, back in 2000. Smith is said to have married Cornelius after a” widely known affair”, according to the NY Daily News, which occurred during the time when Bill Clinton was having an affair with Monica Lewinsky.
To those within the Secret Service this is a big deal, as this is viewed as Hillary Clinton meddling in the affairs of the Secret Service in order to protect a possible presidential campaign by keeping A.T. Smith and his “baggage” away from the headlines.
