In an interview on CNN, Sarah Shourd said that America isn’t completely honest on it’s policy that we don’t negotiate with terrorists, and related her experience as a former hostage held in Iran and ultimately released through thinly veiled negotiations through a proxy and a ransom paid under a different name.
Watch below:
Unlike many other debates held on CNN, they actually presented the counter argument honestly to Shourd to challenge her assertion. I don’t think she answered to satisfaction how paying off terrorist kidnappers simply encourages them to kidnap more and raise their ransom. It’s true that ISIS had the opportunity to spread their evil propaganda because we didn’t pay the ransom, but that in no way means they wouldn’t just have made other beheading propaganda.
