Gov LePage vows to stay in office now with one BIG caveat

After suggesting two days ago that he might step down, today Maine Governor Paul LePage is vowing to remain in office. But there is one big thing he says he won’t do any longer:

FOX NEWS – Maine Gov. Paul LePage is staying put – but he’s done talking to the press, he says.

After the controversial Republican governor seemed to open the door Tuesday to the possibility of resigning from office, he told reporters Wednesday he’s not going anywhere.

“I will not resign,” he said, according to the Boston Globe.

The governor went on to lash out at the media for their treatment of him, reportedly vowing:

“I will no longer speak to the press ever again after today. … And I’m serious. Everything will be put into writing. I’m tired of being caught in the gotcha moments.”

Talk about a roller coaster ride. First he leaves a voicemail that got him into a lot of trouble. Then he apologized for it and suggested he may resign. Now he’s vowing to stay in office, but not talk to the press any longer.

Well honestly, I can’t blame him. After all, I’m sure he’s been savaged by the media. Republican governors typically get this kind of treatment.

However, by letting his emotions get the better of him, he threw gas on that fire.

We’ll see how long he holds out not talking to the press. I expect it will be difficult for him to avoid them for very long.
