El presidente Trumpo grabbed the headlines by the chyron again yesterday when he tweeted that he would be making a yuge yuge announcement on immigration and the shutdown today:
I will be making a major announcement concerning the Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border, and the Shutdown, tomorrow afternoon at 3 P.M., live from the @WhiteHouse.

Well, we have some clue about what he’s going to present:
A senior administration official told CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett that Mr. Trump will present what the White House believes could be a deal to end the shutdown. The deal was largely influenced by talks between Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
Very interesting. I think many of us don’t trust Kushner much, and there’s very good reason why – he doesn’t have a history of anything really in politics. As far as we know, he’s still a Democrat. So if he has his hand in this deal, than it’s likely to have some compromises the base is not going to want.
BUT, if it the deal gets Trump the wall, then I’m guessing he is willing to give up a lot in order to say he fulfilled that promise to the voters….

The Democrats have offered one billion dollars more in spending for border security – but not for the wall:
“House Democrats have added more than $1 billion in border-related spending to a package of funding bills that would reopen most of the government, even as President Trump said he would have a ‘major announcement’ on Saturday about the border and the shutdown stalemate,” the New York Times reports.
“Both sides’ actions were the first indications of possible movement over the shutdown after a week of inertia and harsh words between Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Mr. Trump.”
“The proposal to include more spending on border measures is scheduled for a vote next week… The plan reflects a shift in strategy by congressional Democrats, who have maintained that they would not give the president a counterproposal until he drops his insistence on a wall and signs legislation to reopen the government.”
Trump has made it very clear he won’t sign anything without a wall. Will he cave? I guess we’ll find out at 3PM….
