Today five American-Jewish students from Yeshiva University owe their lives to a brave Palestinian man who saved them from being lynched by an angry, vicious mob of Palestinian Muslims.
These five American-Jewish teens from Brooklyn were driving around Hebron, which is south of Jerusalem, on their way to the Cave of the Patriarchs when their Waze navigation system took a wrong turn and sent them into a Palestinian Muslim neighborhood.
Suddenly they were surrounded by angry Muslims who began stoning their vehicle, with one even throwing a firebomb:
JPOST – Palestinians on the street who saw their car immediately threw stones and a firebomb at the vehicle. The yeshiva students were able to escape from the car before the Palestinians torched it.
A Palestinian resident of the neighborhood helped rescue them and sheltered them in his apartment.
Fayez Abu Hamdiyeh, who lives in the neighborhood, said he let five Jewish “settlers” into his house after he noticed they were being chased by Palestinian youths.
He said the “settlers” told him that they had entered the neighborhood with their car before being pelted with stones.
If it wasn’t for this brave Palestinian man who is almost certainly a Muslim, these American students would have surely been killed by these lawless angry Muslim thugs:
Abu Hamdiyeh said he used the mobile phone of one of the students to phone the police and ask for help.
The Civil Administration of Judea and Samaria said it coordinated the rescue of the young men with the Palestinian Authority security forces, the IDF and a police reconnaissance unit.
Two of the five were lightly wounded in the face from broken glass.
Israeli security forces and Palestinians on the street continued to clash after the rescue.
It’s amazing how one wrong turn can be so deadly. These fives students barely walked out with their lives.
Just like the Afghan Muslim who saved Marcus Luttrell, this Palestinian named Abu Hamdiyeh is a true hero and I hope the five parents of these lucky Americans make him a rich man.
Also, I’d probably wouldn’t be using Waze in that area again.
