Ellen DeGeneres is the latest celebrity to fall under criticism in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein Hollywood Implosion, after she sent a Tweet on Wednesday joking about Katy Perry’s breasts. She was met by reply with people, including another big time celebrity, saying that her tweet would be considered unacceptable if it came from a man.
What exactly did she say?
Happy birthday, @KatyPerry! It’s time to bring out the big balloons! pic.twitter.com/w84DMphK3V

Actor Michael Rapaport of “Prison Break”, “Justified”, and many other credits, called her out for it. Twice.
If a DUDE said this the World would stop https://t.co/I4rOKmIplI

Piers Morgan made the same criticism:
If a man made this joke, Ellen would lead the cries of ‘SEXIST PIG!’ https://t.co/lgXNX82Nk8

Fox News Channel’s Janice Dean was more succint and didn’t relate it back to a double standard.
Just my opinion, but this isn't funny. @TheEllenShow https://t.co/0qbxcVAOqI

Perhaps the most pointed reply was from The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh.
So wait, it's OK for lesbians to treat women this way? Is that how it works now? Please someone update the rule book. https://t.co/efvae1jSvy

Ellen has been extremely outspoken about the Weinstein scandal, and delivered an opening monologue regarding the treatment of women in Hollywood that was, at the time, widely lauded.
