Arf Laffer really likes the new Obamacare replacement bill and derided conservative criticism of the bill as ‘wah wah wah’.

VARNEY: Well wait a minute. A lot of conservatives are not happy about it. The Cadillac Tax stays. It’s still an entitlement program which can only expand.
You’re shaking your head, go ahead make your case.
LAFFER: It’s just ‘wah wah wah’!
It doesn’t have everything in it yet. It’s going to get modified through the committees; these things will go and it will happen.
But I don’t know of any conservative today, free market economist who would not vote this bill over doing nothing.

I find it interesting that he’s so dismissive of conservative criticism about the bill. Yes, this is just the beginning of the process, but this is what the House leadership put together as a replacement bill. And it contains a new entitlement that, as Varney put it, will only expand. This is not what this country needs. We have enough entitlements already.
And the idea that this bill is awesome compared to doing nothing? That seems like a big false comparison to me and a dangerous mindset. The alternative isn’t “doing nothing”, the alternative is doing it right!
Some days I just wonder if people like Laffer are just so beholden to the idea of tax cuts that they’ll just accept anything else along with it.
