This isn’t the first time we’ve brought you Cornelison singing the National Anthem in Chicago, and I can’t think of a better man to sing it on the 10th anniversary of 9/11:

Truly awe inspiring!
Thanks for posting it, RS.
He can really belt it out. At the end of the Anthem, he sings and holds Brave what seems forever.
And there’s no question that he put everything he had into singing the National Anthem. I love how the crowd cheers through the whole song.
This is why God made little green apples and red ones, too. I still like Whitney’s version but I agree about so many trying to sing it their way that we lose the song. I like more musicality in the notes than this man’s style, but I agree the crowd response is fantastic to be among.
Now that’s how it should be sung!
I just listened to Jordin Sparks sing it in Arizona and after hearing Cornelison, it was about as meh as it could get.
I had no idea who Jordan Sparks is so I did a YouTube search. OK, she’s a she. Whatever.
Yeah, I hate it when they do that. The Mariah Carey let-me-show-off-my-range-and-drag-as-many-syllables-out-of-every-word-I-can version of the anthem.
So many I hear singing it remind me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImCWjbAOXKo
That’s hysterical. And too close to reality!
I KNOW!!! The first time I saw it, I just about died, I laughed so hard because it is SO true! I just had to post it here in response to your comment LOL. It was the first thing I thought of. Thanks Jaynie.
Oh, gawd… please make it stop! Anybody have any eye/ear bleach?
Fabulous!! hysterical! Thank you.
Thanks Scoop, You are The Man!
He belted it, melted it and pert near smelted it
I love that big freakin class ring on his hand when he extends it.
I especially liked the way he extended the land of the FREE
I, too loved the class ring. Do you know where it’s from? I’ve never seen him before.
Not sure if this is the ring
The singer Jim Cornelison is among hundreds of support personnel who received a ring from the Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks, in recognition of the way his rousing rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” energizes hockey crowds at the United Center.
That ring is the Chicago Blackhawks 2010 stanley cup winning ring! This guy is awesome and we are glad we have him here in Chicago…If ever get the chance…attend a Blackhawks game at the United Center is Chicago…you will never feel the same about the anthem…Great job Mr. Cornelison!
I was certain it was the ring after I took a snapshot of the ring from the video and compared it to a picture of the ring from the link i posted above.
brought tears to my eyes
Brought tears to my eyes also.
How can you not be filled with pride when you hear that passion?
Ask Bo and his cronies, they have the answer.
I’ve never heard him sign before but I would like to hear him again..He did and AWESOME job!
Thank You for posting, RS.
Tears were running down my checks….loved it!
Bravo, Jim Cornelison!
Wow!! He’s got some powerful vocals!! The only person coming close to him is Whitney Houston! I love them both because they don’t give into the ‘howling’ but sing the song beautifully and keep up with the original version. Good job!!! And RS, thank you so much for sharing!!
Awww RS……you cut off the “USA” chant at the end.
But it’s all good.
BTW….Ulacher’s the man!
“GOD BLESS AMERICA .”(period)
Oh my gosh RT thank you so much for posting this. Hadn’t heard this version before. Made me cry. So powerful!!! Beautiful and inspiring!! God bless America!!
I meant RS, not RT, sorry about that!
Wow! That guy has lungs…powerful.
He is the anthem signer for the Chicago Blackhawks home games. The ring, I beleive, is the one for the Hawks 2010 Stanley Cup. He is awesome at singing the anthem, especially today.
Gazowie !! What a Patriot!
This was from the heart 110%
Even Paul Krugman might be converted to praise the USA if he listened to this-
Maybe even Obummer might tear up – BUT I doubt it since he didn’t write the song
sorry! people like PK have a block against the very feelings this singing can elicit. It’s part of their liberal position.
I have to admit I had to look him up to know who he is, but my goodness he’s got a voice! I don’t watch football, hockey is more my game (go figure) so the Black Hawks I know, the Bears, not so much as far as watching pre games go. Thanks for posting this Scoop. It’s nice to hear our National anthem sung so beautifully.
As a singer, I have to tell you that is an incredibly athletic performance.
The great trumpet player Maynard Ferguson was a great guest artist at many clinics for musicians. Everyone wanted to know how in the world he could play those high notes so powerfully. He said, “Because I want to.”
He was blessed with a gift, but it took a powerful mental focus to manifest that gift in full.
Jim Cornelison also has such a gift, but he also has the powerful motivation required to get the most out of it. Clearly, he loves this country.
He sings it wonderfully. He sings “banner” correctly which most people who mess up don’t.
Here is another song being sung by a different kind of american.
Good Luck America.
Excellent video, TRS… xoxoxooxox
If that song doesn’t put a lump in your throat, nothing will.
This is why “The Star Spangled Banner” must remain the National Anthem. “America The Beautiful” is lovely, but it doesn’t spell out the national creed.
He sings the Anthem before the Blackhawks hockey game at the United Center.
You cannot think straight it’s so loud. Fans going nuts. Really incredible
I can appreciate soulful renditions, but this is as good as it gets…probably too prideful for our current administration and 60% of Chicago though.
looks like most of the stadium is filled with “bitter clingers” itching to vote out the Marxist in Chief! Excellent Chicago!
Bitter clingers….I like that!!
That was powerful, but not beautiful. I’ve listened to four little girls bring more life to the banner than most. Whitney’s performance was top knotch. I agree many try too hard, and inevitably ruin it.
Wow. Aside from it being just truly great singing, I think the crowd was cheering someone finally singing the anthem without putting all kinds of crazy runs and extra notes. This guy just SUNG it. And the crowd appreciated it straight forward.
Wow, wow, wow. That is how it should be sung every time every where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was one of those Tea Party SOB’s at the Bears game yesterday. It was AMAZING. The fans were so pumped and his singing brought chills up my back. However, watching it this morning brought tears in my eyes.
GOD BLESS THE USA
I forced myself to watch that awful muslim video posted this morning, can someone please make those satanic worshiping english muslims watch this….
Serious goose bumps. Wow!!!!
Nope. Not for me. Too staccato. I like it to flow and lift us.
you are anti-American then d. bag:-)
I know you must be joking.
Not anti-American at all, just really different taste in music.
I think the crowd reception was what made it so great today.
A moving rendition !!
Had to watch it again. Brought tears to my eyes again. Let’s go my fellow Americans, wake up and take this country back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
