If you want to really understand how furious the White House and Democrats are with Gruber, you need to look no further than this clip. Instead of standing by his comments or explaining how his comments were taken out of context, Gruber apparently had only one choice in how he would defend his comments and that was to humiliate himself in front of Congress:
I know Gruber said he wasn’t coached by the White House or the Obama administration before the hearing, but there’s no way I believe he came up with this defense on his own. I suspect his lawyer got a call from someone at the White House who ‘explained’ how Gruber’s defense was going to go down. And it wasn’t just a ‘defense’, it was punishment.
