Krauthammer says he just doesn’t get it, that all Romney had to do was say something nice about London and the Olympics and instead he created an international incident. He went on to use the analogy of a race saying that while abroad all Romney has to do is finish the race, he doesn’t have to win. Instead he’s tackling his opponent in the next lane.

He was also critical of the fact that Romney’s horse is in the Dressage competition while he’s running for the presidency. He says it’s the most upper class, hoity-toity event in the Olympics and that it’s just unnecessary while he’s trying to win the election.

Pipe down Charlie, I am sure there will be the next story in the news cycle for you to pontificate about soon enough. Let’s not make a mountain out of a molehill that is the MSM’s job.

    • RobertMahoney

Yes, Mitt shouldn’t give an honest opinion, he should just say soothing words. Tell them what they want to hear, not what they need to hear. Try to be a better Obama than Obama is.

Never let actual experience of running the Olympics fool you into thinking that you could offer some constructive criticism.

  • MaroonRepublic

I’m not sure why this is an issue with Charles?

    • anyonebutbarry2012

I do not trust the whole incident. cameron is all buddy buddy with barry, I find this all a bit to convient, everyone a bit to enthused to go after romney on this.jmo

      • PFFV

They are fellow Socialists. Plus Barry tucked Cameron into bed on Air Force 1. There are more than a few people that have made claims of Obama having homosexual behavior in the past, just sayin. Naturally Romney wouldn’t be in Cameron’s favor.

        • anyonebutbarry2012

          exactly… good points !

wonder what reggie thought ? ha

        • marge75

There is only one pervert in this post and it must be PFFV! Too bad you are not worth a lawsuit! You are SO-O-O-O desperate I am LOL. Pathetic liar.

          • Nukeman60

Let’s see. PFFV mentioned that there are ‘other’ people who have claimed Obama’s a homosexual and you want to file a lawsuit against him, while you directly called him a pervert. Typical lib. It’s always a joy to have you here, just for the humor.

          • PFFV

            <> marge75

    • wodiej

why is it an issue w anyone? There are haters and they will direct it at the nearest object.

  • anyonebutbarry2012

Romney went to the olympics will go to Israel, and barry is out golfing and campaiging, I am no romney fan, but barry needs to go nov 2012.

  • Nukeman60

I think we can glean the most out of Charles’ statement by the way Kirsten Powers was laughing. She was loving this takedown of Romney and I’m sure tomorrow all the liberal media outlets will be displaying these two points. Two points, I might add, that are totally insignificant.

Why can Cameron say that Salt Lake City is in the middle of nowhere, while Romney is not allowed to say it’s disconcerting about the stories of security. He was asked the question, he didn’t bring it up himself. And if the British aren’t concerned about the stories of their security at the Olympics, then I suggest everyone stay away because there will be an incident with lax security.

    • marge75

You CANNOT blame this on the LIBERAL MEDIA! You cannot blame this on Obama. You cannot blame this on Cameron. You cannot make up this stuff. Cameron could say what he did because Romney said what he did. “Send in the clowns. Don’t bother, they’re here!” Thank you Stephen Sondheim! I am glad he is YOUR candidate. aren’t you?

      • Nukeman60

Really? You sound like a typical liberal. Do you even know just exactly what Romney said? Or are you Kirsten Powers in disguise? I didn’t blame Krauthammer’s comments on the liberal media. I said they will pick this up and run with it, much like you just did.

Romney said, “I’m disconcerted about the stories of security.” Aren’t you disconcerted about the stories of security? They weren’t Romney’s stories. He didn’t make them up. He was asked about it. The liberal media in Britain went off the deep end for nothing, much like you did. Welcome back to reality. You can stick your head back in the sand now.

        http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll239/justlorna/Trollspray.jpg

        • PFFV

          Well said my friend! :-)

      • PFFV

If there is a terror attack during the Olympics you will confirm the fool that you truly are. Romney merely suggested he was concerned about reports that security may be a problem. Zero controversy, zero story but the left will take anything they can get. Your side is a bunch of liars, cheats, thugs, and brainless twits devoid of any shred of common sense. Crawl back under your liberal shell and go back to Huffpo or Soros funded Media Matters. They love bottom feeders over there.

  • http://twitter.com/mjh4259 Mary

For the love of Mike, let the games begin. Anyone following the London news in the lead up to the games would know that there are HUGE security issues. Romney didn’t say anything untoward. If he had said nothing and then “something” happens, he would be villified for that as well. Give me a break.

  • keyesforpres

Krauthammer your comments on this are incomprehensible.

  • JohnOfPhiladelphia

This is nothing for goodness sakes. I’m half English. Everybody over here pretty much knows we’re in such a mess geopolitically and that we need the US far more than the US needs the British. And besides, what Romney said was right. Most people here hate the fact that we have to host the darn thing. Its nothing but a burden. London’s already congested enough with tourists and illegals. Olympics were just one more thing foisted upon us forcefully by scumbag Blair and his sick buddies. Krauthamer doesn’t know what he’s talking about on this one, I’m sorry.

    • Sober_Thinking

Never apologize for being right m8. :)

    • StrangernFiction

Charles was basking in the glow of Kirsten’s approval.

    • marge75

You want us to believe that this will not be a huge help to your economy — and you are NOT PLEASED?? Shame. Romney is a buffoon. I don’t believe you are British at all!!!

      • Nukeman60

Show me your statistics on which Olympic host city ever came out ahead financially in hosting the games. The facts remain, that although it is a huge moral boost and possibly a temporary gain, the overall cost and longterm debt is prohibitive to these cities. The real winners in picking a host city in the future are the losers of that contest.

        http://roomfordebate.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/do-olympic-host-cities-ever-win/

      • JohnOfPhiladelphia

        Good for you.

  • nibblesyble

Weird…why make a big deal of this so that Obama can use this in a new ad sure to be coming out next week..I can see the catch phrases now…hoity toity, out of touch, international scandal…Kraut…shut it!

    • StrangernFiction

      Cocktail party invitations.

  • ryanomaniac

The public could care less about those comments. No is worried about the Olympics in this country. We have the Obama Olympics going for almost four years now. We are having security problems because of it too. Romney should just keep walking and pay no attention.

As far as the horse thing? Do voters give a, you know what, about this? Hell no. The media will flop that dead fish out there but all it will do is stink.

  • PFFV

I used to agree with Dr. K nearly all the time but of late about half the time. He is showing his establishment side when he goes on and on about nothing. What Romney said was nothing in my opinion. With all the legitimate scandal and criminal activity going on with Obama and his administration you think they would be wondering why no action is being taken to reveal the truth to the public. Now there is a huge issue no one is talking about. Fast and Furious? Solyndra? Green Energy Scam? Obama’s Radical Associations? Crickets………. But Romney saying something that can be taken the wrong way…. A Big Deal to Republican Establishment Types…. No one cares about the truth anymore, just ratings.

    • Sober_Thinking

Excellent point(s). You can bet Bob Beckle will be all over this… he really is that shallow.

  • marketcomp

Dr. K, you know sometimes if you can not give some positive advice DON’T criticize, at least not in public!

  • Constance

Cameron is a dolt. Big Obama suck up. Krauthammer goes up and down on the issues – sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don’t. It’s just how he is. Personally, I don’t think London is ready for the Olympics. They have a huge Muslim problem over there, and already, there have been major security issues. Romney said nothing wrong.

  • Sober_Thinking

The British media made a HUGE deal over nothing. This was a stupid thing to get all excited about. Romney said nothing wrong.

I understand Charles’ point (I don’t agree with it)… this unnecessarily gave the left some ammunition. However, they will say and do anything to redirect attention away from Obama and his gaffe no matter what Romney does or doesn’t say, so who cares. And not putting an Olympic-capable horse in the Olympics? Are you serious Charles? Then the left will bash Romney for not being patriotic or something by not helping America to shine during the Olympics.

This is an off day for Charles. I really expected him to state something similar to my point(s). Not because I’m right… but because it makes more sense imo.

  • http://twitter.com/ComfyPaws ComfyPaws™

“most upper class, hoity-toity event in the Olympics” Sorry, I’m totally middle class and LOVE dressage! My daughter competed locally and we had a blast. Just because many people aren’t familiar with classical riding doesn’t make it a sport of the ‘elite’.
Romney on Olympics: “There are a few things that were disconcerting. The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials …” I guess Charles hadn’t heard that they were short about 5000 security people and had to bring in service men. Romney also went on to say that no Olympics come off without mistakes and things have a way of ironing themselves out. Clearly, Charles needs to eat more fiber.

  • 3seven77

I haven’t read enough about Romney’s remarks to comment. But as far as Ann Romney’s horse competing in Olympic Dressage is concerned, thousands of horse fans all over the US are rooting for Rafalca!

It takes a very special horse and YEARS of training to get to the level of Olympic caliber competition. For all intents and purposes it IS a Once in a Lifetime thing. And for crying out loud neither Ann nor Mitt Romney is riding the horse. It’s not even remotely like John Kerry windsurfing.

For those who don’t know what dressage is and how incredibly COOL it really is, take a look. This is Moorlands Totalis, the best dressage horse in the world right now:

    • celestiallady

It is incredible to see that horse perform. almost looks like he enjoys it. Kraut is wrong on this one. thanks for posting it.

      • poljunkie

Im rooting for the horse. Sorry Kraut, we dont have to look for things to knick pick about, we can readily find them.

        • nibblesyble

          lol

  • blackbird

This is the first time I am hearing about the Horse.

    Sarah Help!!!

  • poljunkie

Charles must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. He’s sounding kind of sour.

  • Rshill7

Simple truth is incomprehensible? Salt Lake City is the middle of nowhere? Nowhere? It’s in the middle of the USA! We’ll see who and what is nowhere Cameron!

Nowhere is where where Britain would be without the USA to defend it. Nowhere is where your entire continent would be but for “The Greatest generation”!

Put on your burkha along with rest of your little island, and shove a three-cornered American cowboy hat up your asses, again. Oh say can you see? No, I don’t think you can.

    • carmtom13

Excellent comment! If I could I would post your comment everywhere.

    • 3seven77

Rshill, you have a way with words! ;)

    • http://twitter.com/shelly99032 Shelly Sands

Beautifully put sir. I couldn’t agree more.

  • StrangernFiction

Boo hoo the poor socialist Brits. Obama treating the Brits shabbily doesn’t equal Brits are great and should be kowtowed to.

  • Cindy09

In a certain way, I agree with Krauthammer that “all Romney had to do, is say nothing”. I guess having headed the Salt Lake City Olympics he saw the flaws in the London one. I think it’s his second nature that made him cite the obvious, except he was not in friendly territories. The Brits are also under a lot of stress, now to state the lack of security is like calling for a catastrophe. He should have mentioned his concerns to private ears not in front of the press.

    • anyonebutbarry2012

cameron and barry’s little friendship makes me suspicious of all this. Mittens is a lot of things, he never strikes me as rude.

  • TEXs

Mitt Rockefeller Romney has a super expensive horse strutting around in London
Olympics in a most hoity – toity snob upper class event, while he’s running for Presidency
    of USA?!

    Hahaha…….LOL…….

Geez…..this liberal fraud RINO is more arrogant than I thought!!!

  • anyonebutbarry2012

Instead of talking about this charles., how about us talking about the IOC http://www.olympic.org/ whome seems very political. how much longer will we even have the olympics? !

  • Hornet414fixer

I really like this guy, but he is part of the system. He is praising Romney! He must be getting a cur! He is getting ripped off! With all the medical advances we have in the US, oh wait! That’s right! The government is holding back! If he was really that important, he would be walking now and getting wood:-)! Look at Chaney (aka antichrist jr) he should be dead X 5. Look at Krauthammer ; I’ll only say enough to piss off the American people (aka SHEEP) and have a good life! Krauthammer, just tell the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jean_A

I hate to say it but I guess after people like Carter, Bush, and Obama it doesn’t matter but Romney doesn’t look presidential. What is that shoulder thing. Romney needs to act like he belongs on the stage and not like he doesn’t.

    • kong1967

      I think he looks Presidential.

      • http://boogieforward.us/ K-Bob

Yeah, he pretty much looks like your archetypical modern President.

Obama is the exception there. He’s like, way cool and stuff.

        • kong1967

Lol, you are such a pessimist. He might be your horror story but I’m going to laugh my ass off if he makes all you naysayers look stupid for your assumptions. Am I willing to bet on it? No. Am I willing to give him a shot? Yes. Half the people here want to destroy the man before he even gets one foot in the door….and he’s the only chance we have of getting in the door.

          • http://boogieforward.us/ K-Bob

I don’t get it. I was agreeing with you.

            • kong1967

Oh, then forgive me. The word that threw me off was “archetypical”. It made me think of Frankenstein for some reason. Wow, I blew that one!!!

So, you were saying that he is basically what we see when we think of the stereotypical President? Ok, it makes sense now that you said Obama is cool…not Presidential. Sorry.

              • http://boogieforward.us/ K-Bob

I suspicioned something like that had a’ happened!

  • Boxofteabags

Whats the deal here? Krauthhammer was all about Romney in the primarys, nobody else would do,now he runs him down???Just like an elitist republican to help Obama now,way to go Krauthammer.

    • http://boogieforward.us/ K-Bob

That reminds me of the way National Review decided to endorse Romney in 2008.

They came out with an issue with him on the cover looking all Presidential and stuff. Then for several months they bagged on him with wet blanket conservative articles and comments like Krauthammer and Ponnuru are known for, all seeming to chide Romney at every turn. What a stoopid way to run an endorsement.

  • ChesterWalton

Krauthammer is exactly right about Mitt’s visit to the the “Nation of Great Brittan” as Mitt called it. Total disaster and his answer/comment about his wife’s horse was shameful and insensitive. He basically said that he didn’t give a whip about the horse or the event and wasn’t going to watch. Way to back up your spouse. If that was my wife’s horse, I would have been positive and interested about it, not dismissive. People don’t care what event the horse is in, but at least appear supportive of your wife’s interests and personal life.

    • wodiej

oh please, that’s all you got?

  • westernhunter

Charles, thousands of horse fan will disagree with your statement on the “Hoity-Toity”.
However Romney’s comment on his wife’s horse and watching probably just turned off those horse fans that may of been warming up to him.

  • LiveFreeOrDie2012

So Charles would have Romney be someone other than himself since he is running for office? I believe Romney already tried that years ago and that is part of his problem from the start here in that he supposedly inauthentic. I appreciate that Romney has quit pandering and just tries to be himself now. The real Romney is not too bad so far! It is a free country (well mostly) and the Romneys can participate in whatever they damn well please Charles!

  • Jim Botts

But Charles, you and the RINO panel on FOX told us that Romney was the only one that could win. That Romney was fully vetted, and that there would be no surprises!

    • kong1967

This is what you call a surprise?

  • michael carpenter

Thats the funniest I’ve ever seen Krauthammer be.

    • michael carpenter

However, I would like to tell folks like Krauthammer, McCain and Boehner that trepidation is the old paradigm. Ether lead, follow or get out of the way!

  • kong1967

Oh, please. You’re being just like a stupid liberal, Kraut. Romney’s rich, he earned his money and he’s entitled to spend it. This is bullcrap for people to be expecting him to act like he doesn’t have money or doesn’t participate in elitist sports. Get over it.

  • Rocco11

Stick it Chuck, make yourself useful, go write a speech for Mondale…

  • NYGino

In this Presidential race I would rather be carrying around my statement that there is a concern about the security at the Olympics, which is true and has been reported on for weeks, than carrying around my statement that the American businessman’s initiatives and successes are a myth.

  • Philo Beddoe

Well Romney was right about “Is England ready”.

Screw ups with North Korea’s flag video presentation which made them to storm off the soccer field, and a few other things at the start proved him right.

As usual, I have a feeling that the rep’s will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

  • detectivedick

According to LIAR Obama’s surrogates, Chick-fil-A is a security threat to the USA and probably the London games.
Let’s think here, deflect any and all issues about the LIAR and focus on a horse, a sandwich shop, etc etc….
Did Romney take any gifts to the Brits like an IPod with his recorded speeches ?

  • http://twitter.com/Marshmyst Claire Beenham

Romney didn’t say anything to offend me or anyone i know only the Obama loving lefty media, the same media who had been slating the government & security firm for about a week over the security firms inability to employ enough guards. As for Boris the Mayor we love him over here as you never know what he’s going to say next a rarity in politicians today. At least Mitt didn’t bring a IPod full of his speeches over here he brought a beautiful top class dressage horse who I can’t wait to see perform good luck to them.

  • Tall, Dark and Handsome

I’m more concerned that the Nation of Islam has been invited to patrol the street of Chicago by Obamas former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel than anything Romney did or said. And, by the way, what ever happened to the bust Of Winston Churchill that Obama returned to the British within days of taking office ?

Sent from my free cell phone………………

  • MiketheMarine

Hey, Chuck, maybe if you set up and ran an Olympic Show you might have more of a clue.

  • benfrank2012

Sorry folks, the guys clueless. Time to wake up!

  • wodiej

Good grief, what he said may have offended some of the snobbish British but it sure isn’t worth all the fuss that is being made over it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZSKETECBAFDEAUOUML4ICTKLAA Alex

Gah, who cares about Romney’s racehorse? Seriously? This makes me sick, it’s so petty and irrelevant. It’s class warfare. And like Obama isn’t rich? Kerry was even richer than Mitt, but the media didn’t care about that.
The thing about Krauthammer is that he reads the left’s talking points about 33 percent of the time. He trashed Palin and most of the candidates, repeating the left about them.
Still better than Kristol, smarter too, but gah, I’m mad at him right now.
