Krauthammer says it could take generations for Americans to accept gun control

All Special Report panel members tonight said there would be no gun control legislation coming from Congress. But Krauthammer took it one step further and said that because of the tremendous backlash from the American public, that he believes it would take generations for gun control to happen at all:

  • I don’t think it will EVER happen. This country is NOT Great Britain and we have something no other country has, and that is a Second Amendment. Unless somebody changes that, guns are not going anywhere. And rightfully so. In the final analysis, it’s up to the people of this nation to be the last level of defense when it comes to preventing tyranny from dominating this country. Like the farmers on Lexington and Concord, a new generation of Minutemen may be called on to defend what’s left of this nation. It may not be for quite a while, but the fear of an armed citizenry is probably the only thing that prevents Washington from trying to take over this country, and everybody in it.

    • objective123

Agree. 1776 will commence again and trust me, these Patriots will not play at all. All these Congress and imposter POTUS will be removed before that happens. I don’t care how much fraud they have.

    • Marridge

I agree. Our Second Amendment allows us to say TO HERE AND NO FURTHER. That is why obama hates us conservatives so much. We are in his way, and we will stay in his way. His way is establishment of the caliphate, with help of the completely dumbed down left who think they are oh so intelligent.

We on the other hands have God and our guns. I’ll take our side.

      • sDee

I like the odds on our side.

    • kansasguy

I agree and I hope that we are both right. Once in a while Krauthammer shows some Mondale leg and publicly reveals his belief that tyranny will prevail over the long haul. Those of us who still believe in preserving our country as it was founded need to prove him wrong whenever we have a chance. Freedom loving Americans are the last great hope of the entire planet.

    • lostdutchman

I would suggest that the presence of ANY blue-helmet UN troops patrolling, or even walking on our streets may become the equivalent of Red-Coats coming across the bridge.

    • warpmine

Here’s hoping they try it anyway.

      • Orangeone

Never let fresh ammo go to waste.

    • Orangeone

Could the SecondWomen join the MinuteMen?

    • I wish I could share this optimism. Oh, I don’t mean about Congress doing something. They’re all terrible cowards about doing anything that jeopardizes their next election. But I don’t trust the person in the WH who wants to destroy this country. I believe he’ll try putting forth executive orders or manufacture a crisis and declare Marshall Law to get what he wants.

We cannot think the way this country used to work with rule of law. It now is run by a megalomaniac who started the gun-running of fast-and-furious to produce a manufactured crisis of Mexican drug killings with US weapons to enact the very same gun sweep here. We are dealing with Chicago politics, not rule of law. We have a person in the WH who feels he has nothing to lose. Even many in the conservative media don’t get it–he doesn’t CARE about a legacy; a nice write up in the history books.

      • Marridge

Sheer, we are Americans and we fear no-one but God. Come on, get with the program. Pray to God to help us rid ourselves of this monster in the White House so we can turn this country around where God comes first.

        • I never said anything about fear, just about not being optimistic. This country has done nothing but try to toss God out of every public place. What makes you think that the balance hasn’t shifted and He is now staying His protective hand? It happened countless times in the old testament to the Israelites and they’re His chosen people! We have mostly ignored our blessings. And unfortunately the believers have to suffer the consequences along with the non-believers.

  • Rocco11

Why do they ruin the show by putting brain damaged Leftists on the panel?

    • yanksrule

K Powers is at least one a the few female libs on t.v. who is pretty easy on the your eyes…but like all leftists she despises the NRA and our right to bear arms…

      • Orangeone

I wonder how Ms. Powers would respond if I came upon her being accosted by a would-be rapist and informed her that I shall continue on my way and leave them to be because she does not support my right to conceal and carry.

  • aposematic

A 100% agree with K, Generations, and hopefully much much longer than that.

  • Stehekin912

How about NEVER? Our Constitution guarantees our right to bear arms. Otherwise, we will be like the people in days of yore who could be killed for posessing a weapon, groveling in the dirt to knights and kings who could do to them whatever they wanted, because they could not defend themselves or rise up against tyranny. How could wooden hayforks and farm implements defend against swords, pikes and guns? Not in America.

    • sDee

A fine but important point – we have the God given inalienable right to bear arms – modern arms of military equivalence and capability. The Second Amendment says that Federal Government, who those arms protect us against, may not infringe upon that right.

      • 3seven77

Unfortunately, the Second Amendment has already been infringed upon and the First Amendment as well. No matter how “well-intentioned” it may be, ANY “gun control law” is an infringement on the Second Amendment.

We should not be thinking of “holding the hill” so-to-speak, in this battle. We should be mapping out how we “take the lowlands.” To quote General George S. Patton:

” Now there’s another thing I want you to remember. I don’t want to get any messages saying that “we are holding our position.” We’re not holding anything. Let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly and we’re not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy. We’re going to hold onto him by the nose and we’re going to kick him in the ass. We’re going to kick the hell out of him all the time and we’re going to go through him like crap through a goose!”

    • Our constitution does not guarantee anything. How is a constitution going to stop a government who has a monopoly on the use of force? Do you really think that things are even, right now? We may have guns, but cannot compete with them concerning the use of force in order to keep our guns. Without organized local militias across the country, there is not enough organization to compete, just people dying while resisting. The State has back up for stepping up whatever level of force needed to prevail. Our government is in cahoots with many other countries who gather in an organization called the UN. “Allied Nations”, they call them. They regularly get together to go into other countries to “keep the peace”. Thinking that our politicians would never invite this into our country is naive at best, and critically negligent at worst. This naivete and negligence is created by an unfounded pride in something that is nothing more than a psychological illusion created by ones own desires.

      • The “states” force is sworn to our side and protecting the same thing, I don’t think that order would go far. That’s why they want to try a law first to set up the “collection”, I don’t think your sons and daughters would enforce the destruction of your freedoms which would explain the dis-arming of the military.

      • mikeinidaho

Don’t be such a “negative Nelly”, there Slick! There are millions of American citizens who are “armed and dangerous” to a tyranical government. The Constitution ensures We the People are able to defend ourselves against any enemy foreign or domestic. It’s not going to “stop a government” on it’s own but it allows We the People to be armed and ensures that the government doesn’t have a “monopoly on the use of force” BECAUSE we’re armed. Buck up, put on Big Boy panties and stand with us as we move to take back our Republic. If our ancestors could stand up to and defeat the best army in the world at the time (the British Army), surely we can, too.
As for the UN troops, you have to be kidding! When was the last fight they won? Korea (with mostly US troops) is the answer. With US troops on our side, We the People can win against ANYONE.
God bless (and please help) America and We the People as we move to take back our Republic!

        • When I say that the constitution does not guarantee anything, I am saying that it only declares certain things, and cannot guarantee what it declares. The people are the ones who will either guarantee their rights, or not. When the people fail to do this, then it is over for freedom.

          • mikeinidaho

10-4 I understand your meaning better. It’s hard to note inflection when the comment is not spoken.
And you are correct, it is We the People who guarantee our own freedom thru our acts as citizens by standing up to the tyranny that is this administration.
God bless and please help America as We the People take back our Republic!

  • badbadlibs

“Bought and sold by the NRA”. She needs her brain washed out with soap now and then.

    • Nukeman60

It doesn’t need to be washed. It’s empty. All it needs is to be rinsed out every so often.

  • DevastatingLegDrop_22

Amen. It’s nice to have a heartening forecast for a change.

  • 3d81

I think you guys are forgetting one little problem. Those lefties control our education system.

It all begins in planting the seed in a little child’s mind…

    • Orangeone

I think in this case the number of gun owner parents far outnumbers the liberal brain-washing teachers.

  • WordsFailMe

Just this minute, 4 minutes to 5 Pm Friday, got a response to one of those secession petitions I signed back when they were in vogue.

By God those Democrat bastards in Washington actually lift their heads from the trough and respond once in a while,

Guess that means my name is on the hit list.

    • sDee

You will now be spammed incessantly by OFA propaganda. ….

“Dear Words, Barack Obama is trying so hard for you, but he needs your help to overcome these ignorant gun totin’, knuckle draggin’, bible thumpin’ conservatives. Please send just three dollars and we will enter your name in a drawing to share dinner at the White House. What could be more exciting than fighting Michelle for the last piece of pie after dessert?

      Sincerely, Joe Biden.

      • ApplePie101

Of course ‘knuckle draggers’ was John Boehner’s term.

    • BikerHoop

Welcome to the list. I’ve been on it for several years. It ain’t so bad here… after a while you get used to the sound of helicopters overhead, kind of like living near the railroad tracks or a busy highway.

      • sDee

They use drones now – quiet.

      • Orangeone

Maybe you and Words can sit across from each other at the WH dinner and send eye signals 🙂

        • BikerHoop

Yeah, I’ll just bet they’d let us through the door… LOL!

          • Orangeone

It would be worth the price of admission 🙂

    • Marridge

      You’re in good company.

  • I sure don’t worry about getting weapons and ammo as long as our border is open for illegals, we have good illegals willing to bring back the guns we gave them (fast and furious)for good hard cash. Bring it on, there will be a way to get them fear not. Or maybe just the good criminals who voted for O will get them… hmmm, wonder who thinks crime will go down with all this madness?

A pyscho will always be a psycho, ever hear of running over scores of people in a car- think maybe a psycho won’t come up with another way to kill innocent people. When that happens is there a chance they take away our cars? It is against the law to murder with anything and it won’t stop in UTOPIA. There are very sick people out there and yes more will die even in a perfect world. God help us survive this insanity.

  • puma_for_life

Generations? I think we have a constitution that say never.

    • sDee

      Hear. Hear!

Pseudo-intellectual pompous hacks like Krauthammer make me puke – they think they are oh so more enlightened than we peasants.

We’ve the unalienable, God given right to arm and defend ourselves from tyranny and slavery, and a Constitutional Amendment that says our government cannot infringe upon it.

      • Orangeone

And the world is so very envious of it!

        • BikerHoop

So much so they want it taken away from us to make us ‘equal’ to them. Well, that’s not happening on my watch!

          • Orangeone

I may be shorter and not as quick a shot but I am standing right there with you!  My family fought in WWI and WWII so I would have protection under the 2nd Amendment and I will do what I can to ensure the next generation has the same.

            • BikerHoop

Ya know… I once knew a girl that was small in stature. It was said of her, “She comes in a small package, but then so does dynamite.” It’s not your stature that counts, Orange, but what’s in your heart. I know from being here that you have more heart than most folks I know. I would be proud to have you next to me. Oh yeah, and just because you’re “shorter and not as quick” doesn’t mean you’re not deadly accurate.

              • Orangeone

Thank you my friend!  Not to brag, but I am pretty darn accurate!  Just saw this great video from Mills Fleet Farm CEO and tweeted it to Piers Morgan.  Frankie boy wants us to PROVE we are mentally stable before buying a gun, Klobie is all about banning guns.  I know Fleet Farm is a regional company but his 12 minute video is worth the time!  I’m off to Fleet Farm shortly to do some shopping and support this great company, will be my chosen destination for ammo going forward 🙂

                • BikerHoop

Thanks for the link, Orange. That was one heckuva video. I’ve already posted it on a couple of forums I frequent and am going to put it on a couple of my blogs.

                • Orangeone

Fantastic, thank you for helping to get the message out!  The MN tweeps that follow me are all tweeting the Mills CEO asking to build a range at our local stores too like the new one in Baxter MN in the video!  We have insufficient ranges in the Twin Cities for the demand.

                • BikerHoop

Good luck with that… hope it works out for you.

                • Orangeone

I’m more fortunate because I can do range time during the day when others are working, nights and weekends are crazy busy!

    • Bullets can penetrate a piece of paper.

  • sDee

ah the sweet sounds of our ruling class……”It is stupid to think free people will willing give up the God given right to keep themselves from slavery by the political class….it will take a few more generations of brainwashing and conditioning”.

Buy more ARs. Teach your children and grandchildren modern weapons, and the lessens of liberty and tyranny.

  • Sober_Thinking

    I hope they’re right.

If the monster-and-chief doesn’t pass another treasonous EO over this, I’ll be stunned.

    • BikerHoop

I believe he’ll try, Sober. However, I think he’ll suffer major backlash from both Houses because there’s too many in there who like their guns, including Democrats. DuhOne thinks he has total control, and so far he apparently has, but this is a whole ‘nother ball game.

      • Sober_Thinking

        I hope you’re right m8.

    • Orangeone

I think that will trip the impeachment. I have to wonder if they are waiting for the inaug like with Nixon and go full bore with Fast and Furious, Ft. Hood, Benghazi and illegal EOs (illegals, guns, power grabs)

      • Sober_Thinking

I have lost hope that the GOP or any of the national media, would do that. I hope I’m wrong and that you are right. The timing for that would be priceless.

Impeachment alone is not good enough for this monster.

        • BikerHoop

I agree. He needs to be tried for treason and suffer the traditional consequences.

          • Sober_Thinking

            Well said…

        • Orangeone

I’m praying my Sober friend, praying frequently that they do the right thing and impeach and then put them on trial for murder.

      • BikerHoop

Now that would be awesome! I’d pay to see that!

    • The content of executive orders are not backed by law, they are only to reflect what is already law. When there is no law backing the content of an executive order, there is no legal precedent or force of law behind the EO. Disobeying an illegal executive order may get you thrown into prison, but this is only the result of living in a tyranny where there is no challenge to tyranny, either from our government itself, or the people. If the people do not take up arms and use force to defend the liberties of one man, then they will not be effective in securing their own liberties.

      • Sober_Thinking

Your name fits you well my friend.

  • notsofastthere

Our youth are not being taught our history or traditions – they will be taught that they don’t need self protection, just like they don’t need religion or self sufficiency.

    • tinlizzieowner

Exactly. We have been (liberally) programmed for decades that we should cower in fear and wait for somebody ‘qualified’ to come along and defend us. Nothing about that is going to change in our schools, our media, or our government. At least, not in the foreseeable future. 🙁

    • BikerHoop

Exactly why we have to take the office and both houses next election(s) and do away with the Dept of Education.

      • If this were an open thread and you were talking about chocolate ice cream, you could say “I really like chocolate ice cream, and we should do away with the DOE”, and it would not sound strange to me. It is always appropriate to say that.

  • notsofastthere

I thought we’d never elect a Socialist president. I thought we’d never elect him a 2nd time. I thought he would never rule by executive order. I thought Republican leadership would stop him and never allow 4 years without a budget. Never thought we’d allow Supreme Court to be loaded with Constitution haters.
I no longer think American’s will defend their right to own guns. We get used to everything

    • sDee

Count me out. Free men must have guns to stop those who would take them.

Those men who would register or turn over their guns to the Government simply prove they are natural slaves and will be of no use to us in this fight anyway.

      • Orangeone

And I will appreciate those to be disarmed.

      • If it comes down to a real fight, patriots had better get smart about it. The only chance of winning is an Afghanistan style resistance over a long period of time. We don’t have Russia and others who will keep the supply line going, so we would likely be less successful.

        • BikerHoop

I believe it would be fought with guerilla tactics. Strike and run… ambush… that kind of thing.

    • Marridge

Bet you never thought we’d elect a muslim president either. Twelve years after 9/11 we have an islamic scumbag in the White House who got re-elected of all things. Unbelievable.

    • Conniption Fitz

Obama and the thugs stole the election. Before the election, on this blog, I listed at least 12 ways he planned to do it, including amnesty for illegal aliens, people voting multiple times using aka names and addresses.

Obama’s people even took developmentally disabled people out of care residences by the bus loads to vote.

Some counties had 140% of their registered voters voting.

It was a disgrace and despicable.

      • They can control the election through electronic means. They don’t even need the 140% to vote at all, but it distracts from the other fraud.

    • You thought wrong my dear. Communism is an insidious cancer that infects lazy thinkers the easiest. Americans may be exceptional in many ways but we are not so exceptional that we are immune from the same plagues as the rest of the world and human kind. That is precisely why Ronald Reagan warned that freedom is always one generation away from extinction. In this case it was the Boomers that poisoned the freedom well with strychnine.

We got rich. We got fat. Then we got lazy which in turn caused us to tolerate far too much including the pure stupidity that comes across the boob tube let alone what passes for media.

      • I don’t disagree with most of that, but the government usurping our liberties and grabbing power that enabled this socialism started long before the boomers came onto the scene.

        • I agree. I was referring to the Boomers being the ‘one’ generation. they fell for it but yes I would have to say McCarthy was right.

  • They have been wrong plenty of times before. If it becomes the cause du jour count on Republicans jumping on that bandwagon like they did amnesty.

    • notsofastthere

You’re right Laurel, but Obama still got amnesty through. Executive order again and McConnell and Boehner stood by, so did the American people this time.

      • You are misreading me.

And exactly what is it you expect the Republicans to do about Obama?

They have exactly one branch of one leg of government. DOJ is corrupt. Media is corrupt. What exactly can they do against that kind of corruption? Exactly what they are doing…giving them the rope to hang themselves with.

I’m sorry…the Republicans piss me off too but I think people are getting a little too emotional and not nearly analytical enough over the Republicans. There is governance and politics. Learn the difference between them. If the Republicans breathe funny the corrupt media pounces then they have even less power as they get voted out on a pack of lies. DOJ will do nothing since it isn’t an independent power any longer so charges cannot be brought.

McConnell and Boehner can do absolutely positively nothing about executive orders. NADA. EO can get challenged in court by outside parties IF they have standing. Whipping yourself up into an emotional frenzy that has nothing to do with hard core facts and thinking makes you no different that the progressives.

Oh and those executive orders that everyone is ranting about? Yeah Obama is abusing his power but he hasn’t broken the law…yet. Gun control may make that happen. Remember Bush did the same thing with embryonic stem cell research and the left had their fits as well.

        • There is a lot that republicans could have done, and could be doing, both in principle and in procedure. They do not, because they are no different concerning the overbearing authorization for the government to use force on the American people.

          • Such as?

            • Republican have the ability right now to de-fund Obama. If Obama goes around them, they have the ability to have him arrested for criminal behavior. The funding that they grant allows Obama to proceed with executing all of his illegality.

              • No they don’t. Where do you get your information. And who is going to arrest him? That is the job of the DOJ and Holder isn’t going to order it. What color is the sun on your planet? Even if all that were true it would be a Pyrrhic victory at best. They would win a battle and lose a war. You are stuck on government technicalities but leave out a few procedures. Call your congressman and ask him. Hell why don’t you ask Heritage on their website.

Are you prepared for wide spread riots and economic collapse? Because what you suggest will cause that.

            • Obama is breaking the law through the use of executive orders. When he signs an executive order telling the USDA to raid raw milk farmers, there is no law to back it up, and therefor it is an illegal action. Even if a law was passed banning the consumption of raw milk, it would be an illegal law. Passing that law only makes the congress complicit.

              • And you suggest Republicans do what about that? And he isn’t breaking the law either. Abuse of power? Certainly.

      • BikerHoop

I don’t think the majority of Americans even have a clue he did it. How many of them are actually aware enough to know what’s going on or understand what an EO is and means? Not many I’m afraid. That’s why he’s so successful with them… no backlash from the populace.

  • Ray

Hopefully NO ONE in ANY GENERATION will give up their GOD GIVEN right to protect themselves in this country that was given to us in the Constitution.

    • notsofastthere

Unfortunately, we gave up the reasons for eminent domaine and allowed our property rights to be trampled on. Same goes for any house in an Historical area.
There was a time we didn’t need a permit for a gun. It’s all changed

      • sDee

Good point. We should be fighting to repeal the laws that already infrnge on our right to bear arms – they are already unconstitutional.

The pathetic elephants cannot now, even muster the courage to fight an even greater violation of the law by these two bit thugs and tyrants.

No one is coming to save us.

      • Government either controls guns, or it does not. There is nothing in between.

  • goodtoberight

The second amendment is about American’s RIGHT to freedom and liberty. It is all about limiting the TYRANNY of the federal government which the founders knew would be a threat.
obama is the threat along with his pin head progressive leftists who are only interested in making the public weak so they can have POWER and AUTHORITY to RULE. Guns protect you and me and we stay free as God gave us the right to be.

  • tinlizzieowner

Sorry Charlie, there will be ‘gun control’, one little tiny piece at a time.
First it will be multi-round magazines, then you won’t be able to buy ammunition unless you are a ‘registered’ gun owner and it will continue like that, one little snip at a time.
And the (so called) Republicans, in an effort to be ‘reasonable’, will go along with all of it.

    • Marridge

We will start a black market for above mentioned items. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

      Didn’t Al Gore invent that?

Does anyone actually believe these talking heads any more? Do they even believe themselves? They live in a bubble.

We know what the hell is going on. We know that half of our government has mounted a full blown assault on the Constitution, our liberty and our prosperity, and… that the other half is a pathetic bunch of back benchers, just trying to figure out how to share in the spoils of tyranny.

We know the Republicans are going to do jacksh’t about this assault on our rights. Do they think we have bought up every semi-automatic rifle, round of ammo, and magazine in the entire US inventory manufacturing supply chain because we are feeling lucky?

Hannity just finished an hour with people from NY who had their names published in the Journal-News for owning a gun. Excellent show and very sane people.

    • sDee

Did he ask how many of them voted for Hussein Obama and if they will vote for him again in his third term?

      • tinlizzieowner

That would have been an excellent question. 😉

      • Nukeman60

There will be no third term. He feels no need for one. This last election was his (and ours, by his thoughts) last one.

    Dear Scoop,
I really enjoy this page and the work you do for our country. [OUR COUNTRY] Thank you. The thoughtful and intelligent comments here are worth the read.
TRS is friendly, respectful and should grow with readership. I have taken a lot of heat two times on TRS.
    1) I was ticked off by a comment John Bolton made about troops killed in Afghanistan and paid him no mercy with my reply. People jumped all over me and didn’t know my oldest son was a Marine there at the time. His company had too much hurt for normal men to understand. It’s cool, they didn’t know. He has a 3.5 GPA in Business Management.
    2) Recently I asked why people are worried/talking about the Feds rounding up [our] guns? I could be wrong. That was fun. My inbox blew up. Nice stuff. Everyone has a right to think for themselves. My wife and I are glass-half-full people. Mr. Krauthammer said in a brief moment what I have thought all along. Americans wont stand for this crap about our rights being violated. I believe in my fellow man, I’ll give the shirt off my back, but if you bother me or my family I’m not a nice person. MOLON LABE.
    Thanks Scoop

    • We aren’t “worried.” We’re “prepared.”

      • Landscaper

        So am I

  • Sounds like a cheer for the gun control crowd, “Not now, but soon!”

  • imtorqued

Hey Chuck, it will NEVER happen. Our rights have been infringed enough. NOT ONE MORE STEP!

    • Kordane

Too late. The precedent that your unalienable individual rights may be violated without you first violating the rights of others has already been set, and now it’s just a matter of time until the principle is completely null and void. The precedent was set centuries ago, so there’s nothing you could have done.

      • TimeForAnarchy

What the hell are you talking about?

      • Well put.

  • This is a psy-op interview designed to get people who are worried about gun control to relax. Krauthammer knows that it won’t take generations to ban guns. He is not stupid. Australia gave up their guns, and their culture was more like ours than Europe’s. Our government is using the same tactics to reach the same end as theirs did.

When I hear people say “they will never get our guns”, I cringe. That is the epitome of pride, and is contrary to human nature and historical proof. When people say that we are not like other countries, implying that we are so special that this could never happen here, they deny reality. How has our citizenry proven that they are not like any other country in this matter? They have allowed socialism to take our rights in many other areas. Why is the gun issue so different? We already have laws restricting our ability to fight back if government goes really bad on us. More laws, and eventual disarmament are just getting further into disarmament, which means that the American people are not doing what a “special” country would do.

Don’t let their psy-op tactics work.

  • colliemum

    Just this:
The grass roots, the Americans who are buying guns and ammo ever since Newtown are showing that they have a far better understanding of the way Obama ‘reigns’, and they show that they do not trust their representatives in Congress to defend their rights under the 2nd Amendment as they should and must be defended.
They also show that they fully understand the way the meejah and the left are dominating this issue, spreading outright lies about ‘assault’ weapons.

These grass root Americans are seeing that lies are being told by the left and the meejah about something they do understand: guns, hand guns, rifles, ammo.
For the first time there is a massive gulf opening between what the grassroots know – and what they hear on their TVs.
This has opened their eyes – and whatever the outcome, their attitude to both government and the meejah has fundamentally changed.

Both Capitol Hill and the beltway pundits, never mind the POS and his cronies, have not understood this.
They will – because this is empowering ordinary, law abiding citizens who now have their eyes opened, and who will not easily be shushed back into their corners by the mighty in DC.

    • So far, these people are just reacting to government in a peaceful way by buying guns and ammo. Though it does show some intent to defend the right to do so, it is entirely different from using those guns to secure liberty, and against the State.

  • Kordane

Conservatives, if you had to choose between adhering to your religious beliefs, or advocating unalienable individual rights, which would you choose?

Given the Conservative views on drugs, pornography, violent content in videos/games, abortion, gay marriage, etc – I am thinking that you’d all choose the former.

But I could be wrong, so let me know, and explain your stance.

    • I am a conservative who does not advocate for the government having authority over those things, so we are not all the same. Conservatives who advocate for the regulation of personal behavior, that does not involve violence toward others and their property, are advocating for government to have the power and authority to control their religion, and take away their guns. They don’t realize that you can’t pick and choose what tyranny you want, you either have it, or you do not.

    • BikerHoop

As far as I’m concerned, religious beliefs and unalienable rights go hand in hand. I don’t have to choose. Our Founding Fathers were Christians and wrote the Constitution and Bill of Rights based on their fundamental Christian beliefs. It’s not us that must choose, it’s the liberals. What they have declared as unalienable rights (i.e. those you mentioned) don’t appear anywhere in either the Bible or Constitution.

      • Kordane

Ok, how is it consistent with the unalienable individual rights for the government to ban pornography, ban drugs, ban violent content in videos/games, ban abortion, and ban gay marriage on religious grounds?

As far as I see it, if I had unalienable individual rights…

I’d be able to buy/sell/use/own/produce ANY drug I wanted to.
I’d be able to buy/sell/use/own/produce ANY pornography I wanted to.
I’d be able to buy/sell/use/own/produce ANY violent content in video/games I wanted to.
I’d be able to have an abortion (although I’m male) so long as it’s still before viability.
I’d be able to get married with ANYBODY I wanted to, regardless of gender.

And just to show you how far this goes: I’d also be able to engage in bestiality.

But out there, right now, are a load of Conservatives who oppose ALL of these freedoms of action because of their religious beliefs.

How do you rectify all of this?

        • BikerHoop

You were asking about religious beliefs vs unalienable rights. The majority of those things you’re so upset about (pornography, violence, abortion, gender violation in marriage, bestiality) are no-nos according to the Bible. So by banning them the government is simply upholding Biblical teachings (as our Founding Fathers wanted). So, the only one left is the drug thing and judging by the way you sound I’m not so sure you’re not doing what you want, so where’s the beef?

          • Kordane

You’ve got the wrong country, buddy. The founding fathers did not want a country where its main objective is to uphold religious texts. That’s called a “Theocracy” – And that’s precisely the kind of tyrannical rule that the founding fathers were opposed to.

The founders established a country in which even if you did things that the bible said are “no nos”, then you could STILL do them so long as you didn’t violate the individual rights of others.

The standard of right and wrong in this country is NOT whatever the bible says. The standard of right and wrong in this country is whether it isn’t or is a violation of the unalienable individual rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If you want to go buy/sell/use/own/produce pornography, then you should have the freedom to do so because you’re not violating anyone’s unalienable individual rights. The same goes with all the other things.

If you want a theocracy, then you must want tyranny, because you want a country in which unalienable individual rights may be violated so long as there’s some religious texts/beliefs which say they can be violated. I say that anyone who violates or advocates the violation of the unalienable individual rights is immoral and should be opposed as one opposes any would-be tyrant.

I think you (and many other Conservatives) need to get your head screwed on right, and decide whether you’re with us (and for unalienable individual rights) or against us (for a theocracy / rule by bible).

            • BikerHoop

First of all, I’m not your buddy.

I never said the Founding Fathers wanted a country “where its main objective is to uphold religious texts”. What I said was, our Founding Fathers were Christians and wrote the Constitution based on their Christian beliefs. Now, you can twist my words to further fuel your liberal ire… I don’t care.

I understand that in your gay world everything should go exactly the way you want it and anyone who doesn’t agree with you should be demonized. Well, you’re trying to bully and pick on the wrong guy.

It’s the liberals and their Chicago Messiah who want tyranny and at this moment it’s right smack dab in your laps… and you are so blind you can’t even see it.

              Have a great day!

              • Kordane

Quote: “What I said was, our Founding Fathers were Christians and wrote the Constitution based on their Christian beliefs

You said that by banning the things I listed “the government is simply upholding Biblical teachings (as our Founding Fathers wanted)”. That indicates that you believe that the founding fathers weren’t creating a country based on the fact that man has unalienable individual rights, but that the founding fathers were creating a country based on the bible, ie. religious texts. That is a theocracy. You deny it now, after I’ve pointed this great evil out to you; it’s clear why you’d therefore get hostile toward me and label me a Liberal even though I’m the complete opposite of one, since Liberals are ideologically opposed to the idea that Man has unalienable individual rights.

Quote: “I understand that in your gay world everything should go exactly the way you want it and anyone who doesn’t agree with you should be demonized.

My gay world? What the hell. I’m not gay. I’m just a consistent advocate for the unalienable individual rights of Man (as the founding fathers were). You’re the one who’s not consistent at that. You’re the one who’s accepting some tyranny, just in order to uphold religious beliefs/texts, at the expense of the individual freedom of Man.

And don’t tell me that the founding fathers were Christians all. As far as I am aware, they were deists (look up that word if you don’t know it). Thomas Jefferson even wrote his OWN bible called the Jefferson Bible, where he took out ALL of the mumbo-jumbo, and only kept the rational good stuff in. That’s not what a Christian does; that’s what someone does when they have disdain for all the mysticism within Christianity.

Quote: “It’s the liberals and their Chicago Messiah who want tyranny

Yeah, they do, but so do all the religious Conservatives who want to impose their religious beliefs in total and utter violation of the unalienable individual rights of Man. Sure, they might give lip service to capitalism, the free market and individual rights, but when it really comes down to it they’d HAPPILY sell them out in order to adhere to crap that was written 2000 years ago. Don’t deny that you wouldn’t too.

Just tell me one thing: If there was a conflict and you had to choose between adhering to the bible, or recognizing the unalienable individual rights of Man, what would you choose? Be honest, because if it’s the former then you with the enemy.

        • Jaels_Song

What does homosexuality and screwing the cow in your photo while high have to do with physically defending our freedoms in the event of a tyrannical government?

  • It only took one generation to get rid of smoking, the steel and lumber industries, and most of our freedoms. Americans became complacent then apathetic and lazy. I Don’t think that enough Americans have the fortitude to take any action. The “ruling class” has everyone afraid and disorganized. This country needs a leader (not a ruler) that loves this country and has the integrity to stand up to the press, the entertainment industry and the US government. I don’t see that person anywhere on the current political stage.

  • NJK

We won’t be accepting it period. There will be no infringing on the II Amendment. Enough. Look at the airports, they’ve become one violation after another of the IV Amendment. Muslim Islamic Jihadists fly airplanes into buildings killing thousands, now they’re infiltrated into DHS and the TSA, and they’re violating the IV Amendments of true Americans. People should stop flying, paying taxes, and ignoring any of these so called laws.

These people work for us, and we are going to start dictating to them. This is finally crossing the line. Lie, ignore, and do it anyway, if they try to impose something like this.

I’m registering for an NRA course in May. It’s a handgun course, and I’m going to learn and purchase a weapon. I’m doing it because I no longer feel free or safe with this crime syndicate in D.C.

    • BikerHoop

Good on ya for deciding to take the course.

    • Excellent, my friend.

  • 57thunderbird

I disagree Charles. The sentiment on the right to bear arms in America will never change as long as there are liberty loving patriots alive.

  • mikeinidaho

Let’s hope Charles is wrong on this one! Americans should NEVER accept gun control. As a matter of fact, I believe we should be more like Switzerland who requires a gun in the home to be used by a trained individual as a member of a civilian militia.
An armed citizen is feared by the government, an unarmed citizen fears the government.

    • Then you believe that banning full autos is wrong, correct? I believe this as well. If the purpose of the second amendment is to defend liberty, how can we allow government to control the means to do so? If they are allowed to control the means, then they will control the means.

      • BikerHoop

I believe that there are no restrictions on what kinds of weapons we can own according to the 2nd Amendment. If a weapon is produced, we have the right to own as many of them as we choose.

        • I would prefer that localities had equality in arms with the federal government. Since the military takes orders from federal politicians, the localities should have fighter jets, tanks, missiles, etc. These locally controlled forces should be referred to as militias, and should have no federal control attached to them. That is constitutional, and the National Guard is just a ruse of local protection, because it is now commanded and funded by the federal government. Our militias have been co-opted, and our citizens have already been stripped of their 2nd amendment. We are now just fighting to keep the last vestiges of ability to resist tyranny.

          • BikerHoop

            Ok… I vote for you.

            • I’d like to hear some of our Tea Party Patriots talk like that.

Edit: Sadly, the only ones I hear talking like that are the Libertarians.

            • Quick question. Do you wash your brass cleaning media, or just replace it?

              • BikerHoop

I haven’t reloaded in quite a few years, but I used to just replace it. What kind of media are you using?

                • I haven’t tried washing it. I have some new stuff, so I might try it with the old. Thanks.

  • A lot can change in ONE GENERATION …. Take note of the liberal B.S. your kids are being taught every DAY in publiK sKoolZ …..

  • The best way to resist is by becoming politically active. If they come for your guns let them arrest you. There are far more of us than there are prison beds.
