Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson gave a speech where he said that he told Trump he should baptize him on video to annoy liberals and draw the Evangelicals to him.
His comments come at about the 27:30 minute mark here:
He says, strangely, that if Trump lets Phil Robertson make a political photo op out of his baptism, that then they’ll know “that God is on our side.” Uh, that’s not how it works, Phil. Trump has to actually want to convert and accept Christ in his heart. If you’re doing it just to piss off liberals, or to get Evangelicals on your side, I do believe that is a form of Simony. Which is not terribly admirable.
And to show how Trump took the suggestion, Robertson admitted that he was telling the crowd the story so that they could pressure Trump into doing it. Does anyone else find this strange at all?
