In the late 1970's, after I enlisted in the US Military and now am retired after 20 years, I became a Constitutional Conservative Reagan Republican, in 1980, and then my father became a Reagan Democrat, along with Millions of other Patriotic Americans in 1980.

The Democrat Party hasn't been the same since the progressive movement. It's the word they made up so that people wouldn't freak out when they took over the Party.

To be fair, the Democratic Party has a long long history of nastiness, but at least prior to that they were consistent and could actually lead worth a damn.
