By The Right Scoop

Mark Levin wants to know why Bill O’Reilly hates conservatives and specifically why he did a hit to smear Michele Bachmann over the portion of her CPAC speech on the lavish spending of Barack Obama.

BillO spent 5 minutes last night attacking Bachmann, seemingly because she wouldn’t come on his show to be interrogated by him. He even aired a stupid CNN interview where Dana Bash ambushed Bachmann to try and pin her to the wall over some of these claims of lavishness, claims that Bachmann said in her speech came from a book. But instead of going after the author of the book on these claims they question, they go after Michele Bachmann.

When Bachmann was actually questioned by Bash, she turned it around and started talking about Benghazi instead of answering Bash’s questions. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why she did that, with barely any interest from the media in the fact that 4 Americans were killed on 9/11 last year.

So then BillO proceeds to trash Bachmann, calling her a partisan and saying she’s not helping by pointing out such trivial issues, saying that she should focus on real issues instead.

Mark Levin, seeing most of this during his show, mocked Fox News and CNN last night for making such an issue over who actually walks Bo Obama, the dog (because that was apparently something they thought she got wrong..or something). Mark said its time to find out who walks Bo Obama because it’s so crucial that CNN had a reporter chase Bachmann down over this.

I am glad Levin took on BillO, he needs to take his medicine on this. I like BillO when he is taking on pedophiles…he should stick with that and leave the rest up to people like Rush and Levin!

    • shatwood

nibblesyble Come on. Bachmann was asked a simple question regarding what she said. In this instance, there was nothing wrong with Bash’s question nor how she asked. Michelle should have just responded. Instead she looked like she was hiding something by briskly walking off.

      • stage9

shatwood nibblesyble NO, no, no. Bachmann was asked an IMBECILIC QUESTION. And like Scoop says, there’s plenty to ask the idiot in the White House to keep CNN busy for the next decade without concerning themselves with a comment regarding BO THE FREAKING DOG!

        • E Lee Zimmerman

stage9 shatwood nibblesyble Precisely.  That’s why I’m glad that Bachmann kinda/sorta threw it back in the reporter’s face.  Instead of asking about the substance of Michelle’s speech, CNN tried to make headlines with a news B-L-U-R-B, which is why they’re in last place.

      • deTocqueville1

shatwood nibblesyble Try hard to wrap your mind around the issue here.

        • E Lee Zimmerman

deTocqueville1 shatwood nibblesyble Small minds use little wrapping, my friend.

      • WinMissouri

The White House, DoD, State Department etc have been asked simple questions about Benghazi what are they hiding?

  • shatwood

This is ridiculous. Bachmann made a bunch of claims. If they’re true then BACK THEM UP when asked about them!
Bachmann was NOT ambushed, and when asked about what she said, she walked straight away and continued to do so. These were NOT gotcha questions, and I would have liked to have heard her answer to the reporters questions so I could know more about Obama’s spending.
INSTEAD, she pulls the “liberal response” and changes the subject. She then begins questioning how Bash refuses to ask questions about Benghazi. Fine thing to ask Bash, except the question Bachmann was asked was what she said about Obama’s lavish spending.
Bachmann looked ridiculous, plain and simple. And because she refused to just stand in place and answer a simple question, and then ran off, it only made her look like she was hiding something.
This was not some reporter saying to Sarah Palin “HEY! WHY ARE YOU LYING ABOUT TRIGG’S TRUE FATHER?!!!!”
It was a simple question directly related to what Bachmann said to the CPAC audience. She should’ve answered the question. There’s no reason to defend this.
We certainly would not have defended this type of  “response”, (walking away, changing the subject, accusing someone of not caring about dead soldiers) were this a liberal. We would have rightly said they were refusing to answer the question.

shatwood Don’t you get it? It doesn’t matter. It’s stupid fluff. Of all the things she said in her speech, they decided to pick on this when they’ve been protecting Obama for the last four years.
Did Dana Bash go track down Menendez and ask him about his alleged prostitutes? About his crony connection to the guy’s plane he used to fly out there? NO.
Has Dana Bash ever gone after anyone from the White House on Benghazi? NO.

But hey, let’s go ambush Bachmann and question her about claims about Obama because protecting him is job #1.

      • deTocqueville1

therightscoop shatwood Precisely. Point totally missed.

      • bongobear

therightscoop shatwood I agree with you completely.

      • OneThinDime

Nor did any reporter (excluding conservative bloggers like Katie Pavlich) go after this administration on Fast and Furious.

      • clevonlittle

therightscoop shatwood your third sentence makes O’Reilly’s point. The rest of your comment makes Levin’s point rather well……. Bash nor any of the media pins down any left leaning pol on anything containing fluff that they say. Okay , at least for now these are the rules , you say something stupid and we chase you between meetings and if a Progressive says the same fluff, it’s not reported. So…… choose your criticism in a prepared address wisely. Don’t you get it ? Bachmann had a choice and she chose fluff. Had she not gone on about projectionists there would be no story………..at least not on her being a wack job . Her points on Benghazi were spot on, yet this is where the commentary falls. Bad choice  for someone who seeks to be considered as a thinker and not a bomb throwing light weight. Think , think , think , Michelle …….they are waiting for you to gaffe .It doesn’t matter who….O’Reilly, Maddow, Kurtz , or Andrea Mitchell . If the body of your remarks are on Benghazi  why talk about excessive expenses from our uncrowned king , isn’t that better left to Hannity , or someone else ? Believe me……. I get that the ” media ” isn’t covering anything that paints Obama negatively , and it makes me sick.

      • DebbyX

therightscoop shatwood I see a lot of new people here and not many of the “old” regulars.  My thinking is that they, and I, don’t like this new format.  I keep hoping it will go back to the original, but I guess not.  So disappointing, I don’t adapt well to change.

        • http://www.therightscoop.com/ therightscoop

DebbyX sorry, this one is here to stay. The disqus format was much worse.

        • clockwindingdown

therightscoop DebbyX  Still it is annoying, thank you for the effort!

        • http://hehasfailed.wordpress.com/ He_Has_Failed

therightscoop DebbyX I don’t know, I just started using the new comment system today, signed in with twitter, and it seems to work fine.

        • K-Bob

DebbyX I’ll try to get to an analysis of the two systems in an open thread, but the apprearance is only a small factor in what a site operator has to deal with.
You’ll find good and bad things about both systems, and they tend to even out, because both systems are in fierce competition. If you search for comparisons, you can find complaints about missing features on either system that go back only a few months, but due to rapid development, both systems will already have that feature up and running (more or less).
(We did have a LOT of complaints about Disqus forcing a change to the appearance.  The old Disqus format you liked is now gone from the web.)

      • shatwood

therightscoop shatwood Scoop, you’re changing the subject. EVERYTHING you said about media malpractice is correct. HOWEVER, Im not talking about that, I’m talking about how Bachmann handled herself…and she handled herself quite poorly.
Look, I know the media sucks.
But you didn’t address anything I said about Bachmann. She could have easily just responded to Bash and then pivoted to Benghazi.
Running off like Paris Hilton from the paparazzi is does not make Bachmann NOR US look good.
Neither Bill O’Reilly nor I are now progressives, as some on would say, because we recognize this was not a good moment for the congresswoman.

        • http://www.therightscoop.com/ therightscoop

shatwood Did you bother to read the post? If so then you already know that I’m happy with how Bachmann handled it. And in my comment to you I substantiated it. I didn’t change any subject.
Also it’s inferred in my comment anyway. I just disagree with you because you are more focused on what the left wants you to focus on.

      • PatrickHenrysBody

        therightscoop shatwood BINGO!

    • E Lee Zimmerman

shatwood Yeah, methinks the point is that it’s not news, nor does it deserve airing on a program that’s supposed to be (a) news commentary or (b) anchored by someone who claims to be ‘looking out for the folks’ (self-appointed, by the way).  As I postulated in my blurb above, the segment had no logical reason to be aired.  IIRC, Jell-O’Reilly tried desperately to make it about Bachmann “running from the press,” but, to be fair, she was heading somewhere and speaking to the reporter as she walked.

But I get that you’re far more interested in Trigg’s true father, so I’ll not engage you any longer.

      • shatwood

E Lee Zimmerman shatwood Zimmerman, did you seriously NOT get that I was using the Trigg comment as an example of gotcha questions used by the media in contrast to Bash’s question which was not a gotcha question?!
People like Andrew Sullivan who push that crap are morons. I was saying that Bash’s question did not warrant running off and avoiding an answer whereas an incredibly stupid question, like the one about Trigg Palin, would warrant ignoring the reporter.

    • clockwindingdown

shatwood Actually she handled it correctly, Bengahzi and its cover up aided by MSM and leftist is far more important! There was an attack on US soil and nothing has been done about it.
MB shown the light where it should be shown. A known perpetrator of the attack is walking, dining and bragging about the attack on the streets of Libya and we are doing nothing about it!
If more of our reps would talk the important subjects instead of commentators talk of the day when interviewed people would be better informed!

      • shatwood

clockwindingdown shatwood I’ll go further and say she could do both, address Obama’s lavish spending and ALSO address the media’s lack of concern about Benghazi which DOES need to be done.
The problem, again, has nothing to do with content, but style. When she walks off like that, does not answer a very simple question, and then proceeds to start talking about Benghazi, it makes her look like she doesnt want to address the Obama White House spending claims because they aren’t true, even if they are.

  • froggy19510

O’Reilly is a self serving blowhard.

  • stage9

    WHO’S WALKING BO!!!!????
    PLEASE!!!! I HAVE TO KNOW!!!!

    • OneThinDime

      stage9 Bo’s walker is paid $105,000/yr

      • stage9

OneThinDime stage9 WHAT?? really?? Dang…I’m in the WRONG business!

        • OneThinDime

And that’s Michele Bachmann’s point. With sequester, closed WH, open borders, Level 1 criminal illegal aliens released on Americans yet the dog walker is still employed making $105,000/year

  • 2016

Fox News’ week-night lineup is a joke

    • bongobear

2016 As much as I regret Fox’s decline, I have to agree with you.

      • http://hehasfailed.wordpress.com/ He_Has_Failed

bongobear 2016 So that’s Weak-night lineup.  Actually, last few days mostly sucked across the board.

  • deTocqueville1

FOX is becoming just another hack LSM outlet. 0’Really being perhaps the worst although Shep would be if he had a listening audience. 0 has serious women issues.

    • steveangll77

deTocqueville1 As is Glenn Beck.  He is such a disappointment these days.  The Blaze is absolutely Progressive which he rails against for ratings then hires only Progressives to write articles.  There is only Propaganda to be found LSM, FNC, The Blaze Hot Air are all the same.

      • K-Bob

steveangll77 deTocqueville1 Beck does a lot of stunningly dumb things, but if you can’t see the difference between Hot Air and The Blaze, you aren’t looking at either of them closely.
Beck isn’t progressive, he’s just idiosyncratic. In general he’s more libertarian than anything else, but he holds some opinions that make libertarians go “whaaa?”  But the squishes at Hot Air are pretty much useless. Beck is at least making headway, for all that you want to scream at him occasionally.

  • E Lee Zimmerman

You know, I saw that segment live when it aired last night on Bill-O (whom I’m starting to call ‘Jell-O’ around our house ’cause he’s gone so soft; and I asked myself, “What is the purpose of running this bit?  Is Uncle Bill trying to show some love for CNN?”  There was no rational reason for Jell-O’Reilly to run it EXCEPT for (as Mark pointed out) to take a swipe at Bachmann.  He tried — rather desperately — to tie it in as ‘news’ for the day, but it just fell flat.

  • Longiron

Who watches Bill O anyway ???? Many have caught on to him and he is one step from MSNBC and Tingles. Who cares what he has to opine on?????

  • 57thunderbird

Inquiring minds want to know! :-)BillO the blowhard.

  • comoesta3

I stopped watching Fox ages ago and I see I haven’t missed anything.  I wish they had asked Bachmann about Hillary’s assistant who’s married to Weiner and related to someone in the Muslim Brotherhood.  I’m sure she would have had plenty to say.  Now, that would have been very interesting.

    • americalsgt

comoesta3 me too coomesta.  I don’t believe for a second that there isn’t a connection to Uma Weiner and the Muslim Brotherhood.

      • comoesta3

        americalsgt comoesta3 I think she’s related to Mursi’s wife.

  • bongobear

Others have said it better than I could…O’Reilly is a blowhard.  He apparently loves nothing more than the sound of his own voice.
If O’Reilly has nothing better to report on maybe he could fill his listeners in on how much his divorce is costing him and whether or not the church will excommunicate his ex-wife.  That’s at least as pertinent as this stuff

  • 57thunderbird

I quit watching BillO long ago.He spends half his show hawking his books anyway.

  • americalsgt

Bill O is full of himself.  I’ve read 3 of his books.  The Lincoln and Kennedy Killing books were worth the read, and I learned some things.  The previous book really annoyed me. Way to opinionated and I found myself screaming at a book.  The thing I noticed about the three books is that he had a co-author with the two killing books, and me thinks it’s a Bill Ayers to Barry thing.  The killing books were really much better written than the previous books.

    • E Lee Zimmerman

americalsgt That’s possibly because JellO’Reilly is a former history teacher.  I’d hope he could grasp what interests the average reader about history.  Politics?  Not so much.

      • americalsgt

E Lee Zimmerman americalsgt   Now if we could get someone to write a good book about John Fries.  I’ve been working on it for years, and I it’s starting to look like it will be incinerated with me.

  • DanaZZGarcia

Why didn’t Bachmann stand up for her speech? It seemed the facts were on her side.

    • K-Bob

DanaZZGarcia She did stand up for it.  As she said in the attempted hallway sandbagging by CNN, “most of the speech was about Benghazi.”  That’s standing up, big time.
Too many Republicans respond to these stupid, gotcha questions with weak-kneed denials.  You know the drill:Reporter:  “Why is your party so racist?”Republican: “But, but, we’re not racist!”
She did what too many refuse to do: fight!

  • Laurel A

Somebody needs to look bill O’Reilly in the eye and simply tell him to SHUT THE HELL UP!

      • The Sentinel

        K-Bob BillMcMahon BO (I think)

  • GetWhatYouPayFor

Me thinks O’Reilly hates women, especially talented,  powerful women. He despises Sarah Palin so much that he will build up Michelle Bachmann if it helps diminish Palin. The more powerful, the more he despises them.

  • Bobbie227

O’Reilly has turned me off many times! The last straw was when he interviewed Roma Downey and her husband, Mark Burnett.  His statement, “the Bible is full of allegories” did it! I haven’t watched him since. As a Catholic, he claims – all I can say is that he does not know the Bible.  He obviously has no clue where he is going to end up eternally with statements like that. If a woman is not subject to him, he seems to feel threatened.  He’s a dope for bashing Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. I have news for him, he doesn’t know half what he thinks he knows!!

    • Betsy Young

Bobbie227 Amen! I haven’t watched him in ages!

  • StevenValdez

Sorry Bachmann messed up, should have defended her speech, but instead ran away.
Credit to Mark Levin for defending her because she couldn’t do it.

    • K-Bob

StevenValdez She didn’t have to defend it because she referenced the source in her speech. Any reporter worthy of the title should have found the source Bachmann used and if they had a problem with it, bring on the author to discuss it, and not try to sandbag her in a hallway. But extra marks for lameness definitely go to CNN.

O’Reilly would have a point if this were say, 1980.  Back then it would qualify as an “oh, lighten up Francis” moment.  But O’Reilly just had to defend the indefensible here, just to appear “bipartisan” or something.  He comes across as a backbiting old crank who’s more interested in viewers than he is the state of our nation.

      • The Sentinel

        K-Bob StevenValdez You nailed it.

      • StevenValdez

K-Bob I respectfully disagree, why not defend it, she said in a speech.. So if you say something written by some else you don’t have to answer for it, you have to go to author? I’m sorry but the perception of her running away and then later BillO bailing out, is reality.. Why was it so hard for her say what you said? “I read in a book from so and so” and force the media’s hand. Like I said before credit to others defending her.

        • K-Bob

StevenValdez K-Bob We don’t get to see the entire exchange.  I’d bet money Bachmann said as much to the reporter, and the reporter wanted to press her stupid narrative.  The video begins mid conversation, while Bachmann is obviously moving at speed.

  • Willie Heath

Bill O Lieary with Britt Humous took their cheap shots at Sarah Palin on Monday night, and took up for the little
“Wrecking Ball,” er “Architect”, er “Turd Blossum”. Keep it up Billo you and FOX are hemmoraging viewers, cant wait for the new Conservative network that debuts on July 4th as FOX moves left. Good call Mark Levin……

  • Diogenes_wy

OReilly, Limbaugh, Hannity, Boortz, Levin, and all of the others are commentary shows. They express their opinions on what is going on in the world and who is doing it. Just remember that these are THEIR opinions and are not news or gospel. Do they make mistakes? Yes all of them have, because none are perfect and all have sinned.  These guys do in excess of 40 hours a week expressing their views and getting it wrong once in awhile is something that happens, just be thankful that for the most part they get it right.

    • ladyjk

Diogenes_wy Oh, come on, O’Reilly spent how much time on trying to smear Bachmann?  O’Reilly spent five minutes smearing Bachmann–now do you really think he misspoke?  He had his comments planned.  I can’t stand O’Reilly as he is an egomaniac who now looks like he is trying to curry favor with the White House.  I guess he wants to get one of those plumb inside jobs like so many other “so-called journalists” got in the White House.  Obama and his regime plucked key people from the media, put them into his White House pool and thus goes the control of the media.  Not a coincidence.

      • Diogenes_wy

        ladyjk Diogenes_wy
You complain about 5 minutes out of how many hours of commentary he posts weekly, monthly, yearly?
When the other guy’s ox is being gored, we cheer but let it be our ox and we display knee-jerking indignant intolerance.  Which is human nature and not necessarily a bad thing as long as we do not let it become an obsession and take it to extremes.

  • The Sentinel

Michele Bachman is a courageous hero… one of the last remaining (consistently) sane voices in congress.
The fact that she’s attacked so much (like Sarah Palin was – maybe not to the same degree though) indicates that she’s doing her job when most other congressmen/women aren’t.
She deserves so much better – she’s earned it. Unless she pulls a Scott Brown and is absorbed by the Borg in Washington, she will have my undying support.

  • PaulLeslie

O’Reilly is governed by his ego and a vast amount of ignorance.  His latest expositions on “faith” show that he has no substance – according to his own words, his belief system is based on “allegories.”
Similarly, his opinions on Dear Leader and Michelle Bachman are based his own desire to appear “reasonable.”  The Tyrant quotes Alinsky, fills his staff with communists, appropriates people’s earnings and property but can’t bring himself to acknowledge the truth.  Bashing M. Bachman accomplishes the same thing for O’Reilly – it puts him in the midst of the “sophisticated” purveyors of “acceptable” thought.
Too bad O’Reilly can’t show some of that anger he’s been demonstrating lately at what the progressive democrats are doing to our country and our freedoms.

  • Betsy Young

Excellent commentary Mr. Levin!!!!!!! You nailed it!
Bill O’Reilly has become a non-essential TV personality! He is definitely more in love with himself than with anything else! Actually this is why he protects Obama…..one narcissist to another…….so to speak! I know many folks who have stopped watching him. I may tune in when I know that Laura Ingraham is substituting!

  • Dr. Strangelove
