Mark Levin: Trump’s comments on Andrew Jackson are UTTERLY RIDICULOUS

Mark Levin weighed in on Trump’s comments on Andrew Jackson from earlier today and not only called them utterly ridiculous, but explained why.

Listen:

Levin explained that Trump is building up Andrew Jackson to be something he’s not, pointing out that the Civil War was virtually unavoidable. He explained that there was a coalescing of issues and events that propelled it, including the Dred Scott decision and the attack on Fort Sumter that occurred one month after Lincoln’s inauguration.

He also pointed out that there were a number of compromises that failed to stop the war: The Missouri Compromise of 1820; The Compromise of 1850 after the Mexican American war; The 1850 Fugitive Slave Act; The Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854.

Levin argues that you could never compromise with the issue of slavery which was Lincoln’s point!

Levin wants to know how Andrew Jackson just would have prevented the Civil War. But really, he says the point is this:

Fort Sumter was attacked on April 12, 1861. Lincoln’s first inauguration was March 4, 1861. So how would Lincoln – one month after he’s inaugurated the Civil War breaks out – you know it’s not like it suddenly breaks out. This stuff was going on really since the 1817-1818, these discussions, the talks about nullification, secession started to talk a little bit out there. They initially tried to resolve it at the Constitutional Convention, they couldn’t.

So let me get this straight. Washington, Franklin, Madison – they couldn’t resolve it. Later, Jefferson, he couldn’t resolve it. Monroe, he couldn’t resolve it. Adams, he couldn’t resolve it. If only Andrew Jackson had been alive when Lincoln was alive – that is when Lincoln was president – then we would have avoided the Civil War.

This is preposterous!

That’s only the first few minutes of the clip. Listen to the entire clip for much more.
