Hagel clearly doesn’t want to admit he was wrong about the troop surge in Iraq back in 2006 and says he’d rather let history make the judgement on it. But McCain won’t accept that answer and pushes back hard, continually pressing Hagel for a direct answer – even to the point of threatening a no vote if he continues to refuse to answer:

Lindsay Graham is raking him across the coals right now too. I hope Graham, McCain and many others vote no on Hagel. To listen to them, it’s hard to see them voting yes, but one never knows how the votes may fall. They do things for weird “reasons” up there.

    • Indiana

I think Saxby Chambliss will vote yes, he was soft on Hagel and he is not running for reelection

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQI5D66OXO7X2FE4NVCZC7BAMA Joe

Hagel makes Biden look like a rocket scientist!

    This guy is a disaster!

    • hbnolikeee

      Ouch!

  • Orangeone

McCain threatening a No vote? It should be No whether or not Hagel answers the question.

    • LadyMacKeltar

Right! But we know how McCain is. He goes where the wind blows. :S

      • Orangeone

I’m not sure which is more frightening that McCain could have been potus or Kerry could have been…..

        • LadyMacKeltar

I’m thinking there is no difference between any of them.

        • Rshill7

The most frightening is an Obama second term.

          • Nukeman60

Oh, that’ll never happen. People wouldn’t fall for that schtick twice now, would they?

            • Rshill7

              Hail no.

              Heil no.

            • hbnolikeee

Can you say FDR or Bloomberg?

          • davienne

the scarier thought is bammy for a 3rd term… if we survive a 2nd…

        • hbnolikeee

Let me help with that. Like his policies or not, McCain was a patriot and hero and Kerry was a liar and traitor…

          • Orangeone

And John McCain voted for the liar and traitor John Kerry for Secretary of State.

            • hbnolikeee

Again the question is can you pick between the two. Let’s try it again, can you name anything that Kerriyaki has done that is good for the country? Can you name anything positive that McNugget has done.

It’s really not that tough to choice give ONLY two choices.

          • Nukeman60

Your statement is true and I have nothing but respect for McCain’s service, but it doesn’t make either one of them very good legislators (they are polished politicians, yes, but lousy legislators, both of them).

            • hbnolikeee

But the choice is between the two. It’s an A or B not an A or B or “Other” multiple choice question…

              • Nukeman60

On any good true or false question, I always love “other”. Maybe it’s just me.

  • Rshill7

Richard Blumenthal is questioning him now. That guy makes me sick. I mean down to the bone and throughout the marrow. Remember how he lied about serving in Vietnam and was still elected? The mere sight of him is like ipecac.

    • Rshill7

      Ralph!!!

      • Orangeone

I’m giggling because I got the Quaid brothers mixed up the other day :)

        • Rshill7

          Did I mix up something?

          • Orangeone

The two different names in two different posts reminded me of my post :)

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

Totally agree not to mention he looks like wax dummy which is befitting since he is a dummy.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

Well McCain won’t admit he was wrong about the Arab Spring.

    • Indiana

      he wasn’t wrong

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

Really? How is that since Egypt and Libya have been taken over by radical Islam?

      • Nukeman60

Another profound statement. Are you just saving your letters for a nice hot soup later on?

        http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/newsnight/9620883.stm

        • LadyMacKeltar

Thanks for the link. Now we know who we should not consult as an oracle. :D

          • Nukeman60

Are you referring to me, McCain, or BBC? I don’t usually use BBC, but it was available footage.

            • LadyMacKeltar

McCain. He mentioned the possibility of a “spring” in Russia, maybe even China?? You gotta wonder what he was smoking…

              • Nukeman60

I’m sure he would love to take those words back now. Unless of course, he felt that the Muslim Brotherhood taking over Russia and China was a good thing. Hmmm…

                • LadyMacKeltar

Since it’s looking like both parties are headed down the same path, anything is possible…

  • MominNV

    mcPain, is Grandstanding.

  • Army_Pilot1967

Now I’ll be curious to see if McCain vote “Yes” for Hagel as Secretary of Defense after showing displeasure for Hagel not answering his question about the surge. If I was a betting man I’d call Vegas and put money on McCain voting in the affirmative for Hagel as SecDef; ya got to remember the club rules in the Senate about voting for club members up for cushy jobs.

    • nosilasunny

Like Paul was tough questioning Kerry and then voted for him anyway? I don’t have much faith left at this point.

  • aposematic

Color me surprised… Some R’s got off their knees… Wow!

    • Rshill7

I’ve got a 64 box of Crayolas right here and none of them say surprised. Pick another color please.

Disclaimer: I was just finishing up a blue horsey with a green bird on his head.

  • SurfinCowboy

Wow. I suddenly enjoyed John McCain. That was fun.

  • LadyMacKeltar

Is this the best President Obama can come up with for the post of Secretary of Defense?? How I miss the days of Secretary Cheney.

    • Orangeone

He has to have a “Republican” to blame all failed foreign policy on for the 2014 mid-terms

      • LadyMacKeltar

Yeah, the president has perfected the “blame game”

    • sjmom

Actually its the worst Obama could come up with which is why he chose Hagel.

      • LadyMacKeltar

It is embarrassing to think someone like Hagel would be representing us in front of world powers.

        • sjmom

For that matter the entire administration is an embarassment. Its the weakest I’ve ever seen. They save their chutzpah for the GOP and us.

          • Orangeone

Starting with the head of the snake!

  • Philo Beddoe

McCain was in love with Hagel a while back.

    Breakups are hard aren’t they.

    Hagel Hearings

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Like Jersey Shore – REDUX

    Is he brain damaged?

  • Rshill7

Now Ted Cruz is sawing his head off.

    • LadyMacKeltar

      Details, please :)

      • Rshill7

        I can’t do it. Too gnarly :-)

        • LadyMacKeltar

          LOL :D

      • Indiana

He just went after Hagel with his own words in an entire recording. I think that we need to remember that he wasn’t the Attorney General of Texas he was a Solicitor General (He went before the Supreme Court). Don’t mess with Cruz. lol

        • LadyMacKeltar

Thanks! His manner of speaking is what impresses me, he shows strength of character.

    • colliemum

He’s wiping the floor with Hagel.

      Gawd, Cruz is outstanding.

      • Rshill7

Yep. I want an action figure of him.

    • sDee

Cruz ignored Levin’s order to not play audio. I love it! Cruz will not sit up pretty and play by their rules.

Hagel believes the US to be an criminal imperialistic power just like Panetta before him and everyone else in thei regime’s cabinet. He was just stupid enough to say what he thinks. It hilarious how Levin rephrased Hagel’s to show him how to obfuscate and filibuster while sounding legitimate.

      • Rshill7

Well, I was listening fairly closely right there. Levin didn’t order him not to do it. He suggested he not, wanted a transcript instead, but didn’t want to interfere if he wanted to use the video and audio. Cruz had Hagel up on a screen. Hagel had to sit there and watch and hear his own incriminating answers.

  • E. Lee Zimmerman

Why should Hagel be able to complete a coherent thought? Showbama can’t. Shrillary can’t. Biden can’t. Kerry can’t. It would seem he’s perfect for the job.

  • Sober_Thinking

The GOP gave the left a pass on Hillary and John Kerry so they could get to this clown… It’s nice to see the “Maverick” going after this idiot… but he let the other idiots slip through. Nice… (not)

My thought is that if the GOP has the ability to block these heinous appointments, then they should. If they can keep Hitlery tied up until she tells the truth, then why don’t they? But they cave time and time again… and America suffers. And worse… MANY of them voted for Kerry… huh? Seriously?

If they don’t have enough votes or authority or whatever to stop these insane picks… then why bother with this charade? The left frequently uses dog and pony shows to amaze the ignorant… to enchant the weak-minded… and Republicans follow suit? Why bother Republicans if you’re going to concede one battle to fight for another one… why bother if you can’t stop Obama and his ilk from doing anything they want? By being limp-wristed and spineless, you’ve become a non-factor. Impotent. Useless. Even if you don’t have the numbers, you haven’t made the point(s) effectively either.

This Hagel clown is not quick on his feet at all… he sounds “old” in many respects. Yeah, he’s exactly who Obama wants and needs in this position… someone to take the fall when Obama’s legacy is written… when it all goes to hell (and it will). Hagel is a perfect Patsy. Scoop nailed this one…

    • Nukeman60

Spot on. Just watch them give a pass here too, though. They just want their own ‘dog and pony’ show. Let’s see how many actually vote against him. I’m betting not too many.

    • notsofastthere

Just what Obama ordered. An apparent pacifist, indecisive, basis leading the military on emotion and apprehension and not winning the war. A strong YES MAN who can’t answer a simple question.
I can’t respect any Republican who votes ‘yes’ for this guy.

      • Sober_Thinking

        Agreed.

Any of them who vote for this joke of an appointee, has already been assimilated by the Borg. They should be earmarked for firing in the coming months/years.

  • RocklinConservative

Why can’t they all question like this all the time?

    • marketcomp

Finally, a RINO doing his job!

  • http://navalwarfare.blogspot.com/ Libertyship46

Hagel just looked stupid. But the real question is, if he didn’t support the surges in both Iraq AND Afghanistan, the war he thought was the “good war,” then what is Hagel willing to fight for? When the Islamists are marching in Time Square? We’ve heard a lot of what military action Hagel is NOT willing to support. The question for me is, is he willing to support ANY military action? I doubt it. Isolationism got us the first 9/11. Isolationism will give us the next one as well.

    • Orangeone

Because…..cost. No retort from McCain about the lives lost in 9/11 and the declaration of war by the mooooslime murdering innocent Americans, including children, on our soil

  • Stehekin912

“I’ll defer that judgement to history.”
    History says…..
    ERRRRRRRRRR
    Loser

  • ryanomaniac

The ole Maverick does something right 1/16 of the time. This is one of those times.

    • Nukeman60

I’d rather have a broken clock.

      • Orangeone

At least your broken clock would be correct 2 times each day :)

  • deeme

It sounds like he has all the qualifications for this administration, a Yes man who hates Israel..now if he gets four guys killed or more he can run as a Democrat in 2016…

  • colliemum

Forget about McCain – the way the leftards are already spewing filth about Sen Ted Cruz shows that he’s hit home, hard, twice in two hearings.

The LyingScreaminMeejah will now home in on him, he’ll be Palinised by the weekend.

    • Nukeman60

The more the LameStream does this, the more I realize that I’m backing the right people. When they start smearing Obama, I’ll have to take a close look at what he is doing right.

  • bjohnson55

Hagel is very synaptically challenged now isn’t he. Answer the question, yes or no.

    • Orangeone

I couldn’t tell if brain to mouth wasn’t working, memory on how to deflect the question was failing or if he’s drunk. He reminds me of our drunkard Gov Mark Dayton

      • bjohnson55

Maybe all of the above or the guy is a complete boob.

  • http://black-avenger-1.livejournal.com/profile VirusX

    McCain is a sissy punk.

“Directly answer my question, or shut your speaking sphincter. I will not bull sh*t, I will not beat around the bush, and I will not tolerate those that do. If you can’t answer a simple question, you are not fit for a complex job. Period. I have no more questions for this Jew hating punk.”

    • Orangeone

I’d be willing to give you 9 minutes to go at Hagel!

  • http://twitter.com/nestroyat64 Johann Streit

And all this, while Oil Gore is getting creamed by the liberal media on his book tour!

  • mediaaccess1

Yea, and McCain will still vote for him?

    • http://twitter.com/nestroyat64 Johann Streit

Not if he says: “What difference does it make now!” That would tick him off.

  • sjmom

I hope the GOP is finally taking a stand after kissing Kerry’s posterior parts. It would be about time!

  • sjmom

Scoop; please post Cruz grilling Hagel……..please, please and pretty please. :)

    • Orangeone

And Jeff Sessions too once that side of Hagel is cooked over the open flames

Edit: Mike Lee from UT too please

Edit: Can you also post Kelly Ayotte’s? Would love to see her in action.

  • Constance

Pardon my complete skepticism, but here are my thoughts on this entire dog and pony show. These same senators (with the exception of Cruz) who just rammed through the approval of John Kerry are now playing tough and putting Hagel on the hot seat, right? Know what I think? It’s to placate those of us who are pretty ticked off at weak GOP Senators. They will play this game with Hagel and in the end, he will be confirmed. I believe it’s all a lie. All of it. I’m sorry, folks. I just am not buying any of this anymore. The fact that Fast and Furious and Benghazi is just hanging out there, with nothing substantive done, tells me all I need to know. This fool will be put into the position, just like melting-face Kerry got his appointment. All a big show.

    • HarrietHT2

McCain is merely burnishing his patina of conservatism to a national audience, as you suggest. (This is probably among his most pleasurable moments, the performance as well as the midnight replay.) And I’m sure his big donors expect it of him. But it means nothing. A man who will vote for Kerry for SoS cannot possibly have any legitimate qualms about voting yes on Hagel.

    • 57thunderbird

      I agree.Kabooke theater.

Ditto That, they are all in it together, “the good old boys and girls/(Hiliary) club.

Wonder if this fool along with the other fools who live in the one’s world realize that when they call the war a blunder it means that the soldiers lost their lives for a blunder.

  • kssturgis62

When John McCain was running for POTUS he was asked if you were to pick a sec of defense who would it be,

    HE SAID CHUCK HAGEL.

McCain Hypocrite !!!! He will Vote for him.

  • gothicreader

    Incompetent.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZSKETECBAFDEAUOUML4ICTKLAA Alex

This is McCain’s job and specialty. The Tea Party doesn’t have much interest in the decade-old surge and the GOP RINO Prez. Even though the surge did end up working and my heart’s with GW Bush after the loss of Barney. It’s not personal.
