Miss Louisiana got a lot of applause for her answer to a question about the Bergdahl deal at the Miss USA pageant

Now don’t expect an enormously informed and nuanced answer to the Bergdahl debacle but, she sure got a lot of applause for it.

Watch below:

The question was, “In recent weeks the U.S. has released 5 detainees from Guantanamo in exchange for one U.S. soldier held captive in Afghanistan. The U.S. policy is to leave no soldier behind. Do you think its fair to sacrifice or swap lives in order to uphold this policy?”

Also it must be noted that the pageant was held in Baton Rouge, which might explain 10% of the huge applause she got.

But hey, she seems to understand the constitutional duty of the federal government to defend its citizens much better than Obama does, so…

[Editor’s note: An earlier version of this post incorrectly named the pageant as Miss America instead of the correct Miss USA pageant.]
