Some of the strongest voices in opposition to our 2nd Amendment rights being infringed upon by so-called gun-control legislation are those voices who have lived under communism. This man, Manuel Martinez, escaped the brutal regime in Cuba in 1954 and now warns us what could happen if we allow this freedom to be infringed upon in any way.

Transcript and video via Daily Disinfectant:

My name is Manuel Martinez. Born in Cuba. American Citizen for more than 40 years. I oppose any manipulation, any regulation or disruption of the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

In 1957 a Revolution … individuals … malicious individuals, masquerading as Democrats, revolutionaries, established a regime … a dictatorial regime … in my nation. Called Communism, Socialism, Stalinism, Marxism, and whatever other named -ism you want to put on it. The reason why it was done was to take away the guns from the People. The right of the People to wear guns. That is a God-given Right. It’s not given by anybody. It’s not given by any group. It’s the same thing as freedom, which is a God-given Right. And no one, absolutely no one, has the authority to take it away. To cease to defend the Second Amendment, and my God-given Right of freedom, will cease only with my death.

I’ve been through it. I’ve been there. You people don’t know what freedom is because you never lost it. You haven’t been tortured. You haven’t been [sic] assassinations, you haven’t been mothers begging for the life of their son not to be killed because the only reason is they wanted to be free. And they killed the mothers and they killed the son.

So my way to protest, the way to oppose, because if we keep tangling with the Second Amendment, we are open the same way that Cuba was open for Communism. China, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Venezuela, on and on. A dictatorial regime that will destroy this country, in the same way that it destroyed those ones that I mentioned to you.

Gun Control does not protect anybody. It doesn’t protect the citizens, it doesn’t protect the People. The only reason for gun control is for the Government to be protected from the Citizens. In that way the Government can manipulate the People and subjugate them. That’s what’s happened in Cuba for 52 years … 54.

I came here for freedom. At the time I came here it was different. This country opened their arms for me … I couldn’t get it in Cuba. And they opened their arms for me, I probably wouldn’t get it here today. I hope that I get clear with you, and you understand my point of view. I think that concludes my testimony.

Our legal status is actually corporate subjects under national emergency status created in 1933 after declaring bankruptcy, and losing our sovereign status. Every president since then has renewed this national emergency status through executive order. We just don’t hear about it. Obama did it last year and split it up between to executive orders that were addressing some kind of nuclear proliferation issue with Russia.
This is the big secret that nobody (other than Ron Paul in the past) in D.C. wants us to know.

He’s talking about communism so it will fall on the deaf ears of commiecrats.  They will reject accepting the evil of communism in the same way a teenager gets angry if someone calls his mother a worthless whore.  Communism and worthless whores have a lot in common but communism denies me the freedom of seeking another lady of the evening, and everything else for that matter.

Compelling testimony.  Oregon is my state, and I’ve written everyone on the panel urging them not to hold law abiding citizens responsible for crime but to get their fiscal house in order so they can enforce the plethora of laws against crime that are already on the books.  We have empty prisons while they’re failing to hold convicted criminals due to funds.

The good news is, I’m told, that Oregon’s Dem Governor is opposed to 2nd amendment infringement as a huge gun enthusiast. Still though, all this gun legislation is tyranny plain and simple.

    • 57thunderbird

bfunk That is good news.Hard to believe coming from Oregon.

      • bfunk

57thunderbird That’s for sure. I left that state because of what an armpit it’s become, but it’s nice to know there are some lights starting to shine.

      • patriot077

57thunderbird bfunk Pockets of Oregon are still conservative. As in most of the blue states, it only takes 2 or 3 major metropolitan areas to swing the vote to the dark side.

    • Laurel A

bfunk Yeah but politics has a way of interfering in that.

    • libertifirst

I live in Oregon, and shortly after the last “mass shooting”, he made a comment about pushing for new gun legislation. My cousin is a state senator, and he hasn’t said anything about new bills coming to him. He has recieved a lot of e-mails on the subject though, and has responded via news letter. He is a farmer, and a conservative, and he is a gun advocate, though not an enthusiest. You can look him up if you want. He is Senator Jeff Kruse. The pubs are in the minority, as usual.
I have been expecting new laws to come here in Oregon though.

      • bfunk

libertifirst I did too, until recently. I know who Kruse is. He’s a good guy, for sure. Maybe it’s in the House, but a friend of mine said there’s a bill there that got put on the ‘back burner’ because Kitzhaber wouldn’t sign it, or something like that. Anyhow, keep fighting the fight. I’d love to see Oregon come back from the edge.

  • Amjean

Both bring tears to my eyes:  1) this brave man sharing his story and 2) the “-isms” trying their hardest to destroy this great country.
And quite frankly, I am tired of giving a pass to “stupidity”; to those who are so misguided and foolish as to push for gun control under the banner of “for the children”.  It is “for the children” that we should support our constitution, bill of rights and subsequent liberties.

    • libertifirst

If we don’t start letting governments know that we will not allow them these infringements, then they will continue to infringe. Not sure that there are enough of us to do a whole lot.

    • VincentMartha

Amjean No one ever mentions the children saved because their parents have a gun.

  • Booker

    Wow. That was powerful.

    • FoundersRevenge

Booker – And did not move that panel. Not one bit.

      • PertyMouthParks

FoundersRevenge Booker They looked like they were seconds away from making fun of him, and writing him off as an extremist Tea Party member.

      • Booker

FoundersRevenge Booker These folks are like blocks of wood, I tell ya.

  • clockwindingdown

This subject shouldn’t even be open for discussion, that it is shows how severe the problem is. It is time to start labeling the left wing extremist on these boards that are discussing the subject. How embolden are they to openly violate our laws by even proposing infringement!
Infringement is not open for discussion, subversion charges are for those proposing! I would like to see someone turn the tables upon these boards in a discussion like this by shining the light on them and their treachery!

  • mcgurn

I’ll bet one of the reasons o is trying to infiltrate the country with 20 million aliens is they come from a country that isn’t free & wouldn’t fight for something they know nothing about. And he’ll give them gobs of entitlements to keep them passified & in a trance. I’m sure that they’d love to be part of his “private army” too. The clown is scheming 24/7 how to destroy America & enslave us. We’d better wake up & wake up fast!

    • OneThinDime

mcgurn If you read any of the lib sites, the illegals want our guns taken so it is easier for them to take our homes and attack our wives and children without worrying about getting shot.

  • _donaldson

American school children waste too much time studying green causes and touchy-feely non-existent stories of ‘oppression’, so they cannot even learn the truth.
    Communism is pure evil.

  • PertyMouthParks

I talked to one of my patients yesterday. He is from China. He said the only way for us to overcome what is going on in America is to have the big “R.” I fully agree, and look forward to it. It is time to water the tree of liberty people.

    • libertifirst

      Sounds like a realist.

Socialism is being actively taught in ALL schools and PRAVDA only reinforces the messages from the Politburo and the Premier.
BUT ONLY The citizens SUFFER from Socialism Communism and NEVER the Politicians nor PRAVDA.
LIBERTY,and GOD given RIGHTS MUST be undermined for SOCIALISM COMMUNISM To succeed
ALL Native born Americans should pay attention and Read the Constitution with your kids and grandkids…because teachers don’t teach the foundation of American values and way of life.

This was a very powerful clip. I think it’s time that we americans start listening to people like this man who lived in those countries that embraced the kind of socialism that some in our country want. We should be grateful for men like Mr. Martinez who are brave enough to speak out and in essence give our country a fair warning about the dangers of having our gun rights taken away.

    • VincentMartha

LouisLaGuardiaIII I have heard people say ” It can’t Happen here, we’re safe.”  Yes, it can happen here.  It’s happening.  Over the past 4 years think of the changes here in America.  Religion is now ridiculed, schools are being taught Islamism, to stomp on pictures of Jesus, Getting rid of the history of the holocaust in the history books, spying everywhere, freedom of speech, no, censored.  Our guns are our last defense, do not let them go.

    • siquijorisland

    .
    Maya Angelou’s account of
firearm self-defense must have been the last thing that gun-control advocates
wanted to hear. Maya Angelou’s account of firearm self-defense must have been
the last thing that gun-control advocates wanted to hear. I know why the caged
bird shoots. Because some creep is at the door, turning the knob. And she’s
alone and rightfully afraid. But she has a gun in her hand. And thanks to the
Second Amendment that many on the political left would like to erase and
rewrite — by using horrific tragedies like Sandy Hook to wipe the Constitution
of irritants — Maya Angelou was able to defend herself. That’s right. She defended herself with a
firearm. Maya Angelou got her gun. And now that she’s talked about it, she
teaches us a lesson about making assumptions.
    Angelou, the literary icon
and famed poet and “Star Trek” fan, told Time magazine in a recent
interview that she likes having guns around. Her comments must have been the
last thing that gun controllers wanted to see.TIME: Your mother, she was your
protector. She often carried a gun, she seemed very fond of guns. Did you
inherit your mother’s fondness for guns?ANGELOU: Well, I do like to have guns
around. I don’t like to carry them. But if somebody is going to come into my
house, and I have not put out the welcome mat, I want to stop them.TIME: Have
you ever fired a weapon? ANGELOU: Of course! TIME: At a person? ANGELOU: I’ve
fired it period, not at a person I hope. I was in my house in North Carolina. It was fall. I heard someone
walking on the leaves. And somebody actually turned the knob, so I said, ‘Stand
four feet back because I’m going to shoot now!’ BOOM! BOOM! The police came by
and said, ‘Ms. Angelou, the shots came from inside the house.’ I said, ‘Well, I
don’t know how that happened.'” I loved the way she told the story.
Particularly the sounds she used, like the leaves. The leaves were an awfully
nice touch, weren’t they? “It was fall. I heard someone walking on the
leaves. …” You could hear them crunch under the predator’s feet. And
then the silence when the feet stopped moving there at the door and the knob
turned. Angelou couldn’t tell if the lurker was armed with a firearm or perhaps
had another weapon, a hammer, say, or just fists. But the poet had what she
needed to counter what she thought was coming for her. Shooting blind through a
closed door is a terribly dangerous thing to do, potentially deadly, perhaps
murderous in the hands of the right prosecutor. It is the act of a student of
the Shotgun Joe Biden Firearms Safety
    Academy, or a person
driven out of her wits by panic. I think it’s fair to say that she was
frightened. Angelou had been the victim of violence as a girl. And former
victim or not, who wouldn’t be afraid? Unfortunately, so much of the gun
control debate is about fear. Fear of what happened at the Sandy
Hook school, where 26 people, most of them children, were gunned
down by a madman whose parents should have noticed something was wrong and done
something about it. And they didn’t do something about it, and all those people
are dead. Fear, too, of the government taking weapons away from law-abiding gun
owners, depriving them of their Second Amendment rights. Fear also of the
ignorance of some lawmakers, including a lead House sponsor of a proposed
federal ban on high-capacity magazines. U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, of Colorado,
said that her proposed ban on the sale or transfer of magazines holding more
than 10 rounds would reduce violence. “If you ban them in the future, the
number of these high-capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over
time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more
available,” she said at a forum organized by the Denver Post. The audience laughed as DeGette
cast herself as an empty-headed blue jay because, as I’m sure Maya Angelou
could tell her, an empty magazine can be reloaded with bullets. That a lead
Democratic sponsor of a controversial gun bill doesn’t even know the first
thing about how guns work reveals that it’s all about one thing: peddling fear.
Americans had hoped for another kind of debate after Sandy Hook, a debate in
which responsible gun control measures could be considered, yes, but also a
discussion about mental health and a culture of violence that brings treasure
to the same Hollywood crowd that hires armed bodyguards yet abhors the Second
Amendment. So why does the caged bird shoot? Because her finger is on the
trigger. She’s not thinking about gun control. She’s not thinking about social
elites who have the means to insulate themselves while mocking the less
fortunate, those among us who cling to our guns and our religion. She’s not
thinking about DeGette’s stupidity or liberal demagoguery. She’s thinking only
    about one thing. Survival.

“Our Founding Fathers were proud that Americans were trusted with arms because they knew that only when people are armed could they truly be thought of as free citizens. And that’s where the circle closes. Those who want to DEPRIVE YOU OF YOUR RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS ARE INTENDING TO DEPRIVE YOU OF YOUR FREEDOM, period. Like the criminals their policies encourage, these elitists know that it is always best to disarm your victims BEFORE you enslave them.” — Charley Reese
