Firewall with Bill Whittle: Why failure should be your friend and not your enemy

Failure, hardship and setbacks are our companions on the road of life, whether we like it or not. So we have a choice. We can either make them our friends, or they will become our mortal enemies.

On today’s Firewall, Bill Whittle of TruthRevolt talks about failing our way to success. This is a principle we have all heard of from time to time. But Bill brings it home to the context of the American dream, the Declaration of Independence, and the spirit of equality of opportunity rather than of outcomes.

The problem is, it’s getting harder to fail in America. The founders of Apple, Amazon, Google – all of them say they could never get started in America today due to regulations gumming up our God-given Right to Fail.

And worse then that, the self esteem movement means that kids don’t even get to keep score playing Little League baseball. If you can’t survive failure on a baseball diamond at 10, you’re not likely to give it a try with a business plan at 30. Are you?

It’s so important that Americans understand this, and that we as conservatives pass on values to our kids that include not only tenacity and ambition, but the ability to fail, to pick up, and to move on. I know I’ve had to many times in my life.

A great message from Whittle and perfectly delivered. You can read the full transcript at TruthRevolt.org.
