NEW POLL: Trump leads the pack with Walker on his heels in new national poll

The PPP Polling outfit in NC has come out with a new poll from July 20-21 that still has Donald Trump in the lead despite his comments about John McCain last Saturday. But Scott Walker has risen to just 2 points behind him, holding a strong second place. Ted Cruz is 7th, behind Mike Huckabee of all people.

According to the poll, Trump gets 19% to 17% for Scott Walker, 12% for Jeb Bush, 10% for Ben Carson and Marco Rubio, 8% for Mike Huckabee, 4% each for Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, and Rand Paul, 3% each for Chris Christie and John Kasich, 1% for Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum, and less than 1% each for Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, and George Pataki, as you can see below:

Here is what PPP says about their poll:

Public Policy Polling surveyed 1,087 voters nationally, including 524 Republican primary voters and 496 Democratic primary voters, on July 20th and 21st. The margin of error for the overall survey is +/-3.0%, for the Republicans it’s +/-4.3%, and for the Democrats it’s +/-4.4%. 80% of participants responded via the phone, while 20% of respondents who did not have landlines conducted the survey over the internet.
