Newt to Republicans: You can either help defeat Hillary or help elect Hillary!

Newt Gingrich told Republicans on a Facebook Live event a few minutes ago that they are either going to help defeat Hillary or help elect Hillary. He didn’t call out Republican leaders out by name, but given that Paul Ryan has said he will no longer defend or campaign for Donald Trump, it’s not hard to guess who Newt was speaking to.

Newt called the 2005 audio of Trump disgusting and refused to defend it. But he said what Hillary has done is far worse.

Watch (skip to 15:36 or -1:56):

POLITICO – “My only advice to Republicans leaders is simple, in the end you either help defeat Hillary Clinton or you help elect Hillary Clinton,” Gingrich told an online audience that approached 5,000 people. “If she gets elected, she will be a nightmare, this will be the most corrupt and dishonest administration in American history, and you will find her even harder to work with work with than Obama, because she will simply smother you.”

Gingrich, who at one time was also under consideration to be Trump’s running mate, chastised those in his own party who find Trump does not represent their values. Many Republicans have abandoned Trump after a 2005 video where the nominee described sexually aggressive advances towards women. Gingrich found the video “disgusting,” but said that pales in comparison to what Clinton has done.

“I think to sit on your hands, to find some pretense because Donald Trump is not pure enough, so you’re willing to have Hillary Clinton get elected is an enormous disservice to the future of the country and to the future of our children and grandchildren,” Gingrich said.

Generally I think he’s right about Hillary. The problem is it seems a fair number of Republicans are uncomfortable with how far into the gutter they have to go just to defeat Hillary.

Also Newt is ignoring the elephant in the room. Trump has done more to help get Hillary elected than anyone else in this election cycle and that’s where he needs to aim his fire. Don’t blame anyone else for Hillary getting elected.
