North Carolina magistrate refused to perform same-sex wedding

A North Carolina magistrate in Pasquotank County is making news because he refused to perform a same-sex wedding on Monday. While the couple eventually did get married, I suspect we’ll be seeing more of this in the coming days as same-sex marriage has recently become legal in NC, a state that voted to ban same-sex marriage.

Personally I can’t blame the magistrate. I would have done the same if I were in his shoes:

Sounds like he won’t be able to keep his job as magistrate, but hopefully he can be transferred to another job where his religious convictions won’t have to be compromised.
