According to Nick Kristof from the NY Times, Islamists like the Taliban and ISIS don’t just subjugate women because they believe they are inferior, they also do it for the more rational reason of keeping women stupid so they won’t be a threat to extremism or something:
Kristof says that groups like ISIS and the Taliban know that ‘a girl with a book’ is the greatest threat to extremism. But that doesn’t even make sense to me. Typically most women in Islamic countries are victims of this ‘extremism’. They don’t get a ‘book’ because they are victims, not because they are some threat to ‘extremism’.
No the greatest threat to extremism Islamism, as a friend of mine puts it, is an American soldier with a ‘big ass gun’.
