Obama admin said Iran had NO access to U.S. financial system – now we know THEY LIED

In an astounding report released today, we’re discovering that Obama officials LIED to the American public about providing Iran with a secret backdoor access to the U.S. financial system.

Watch below:

Here’s more from USA Today:

The Obama administration gave Iran brief access to the U.S. financial system as part of the Iran nuclear deal despite specifically telling Congress that such access would remain banned under terms of the controversial agreement, a report released Wednesday by Senate Republicans claims.

“Officials repeatedly testified to Congress that Iranian access to the U.S. financial system was not on the table or part of any deal,” says the majority report of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

Despite those claims, the Treasury Department, at the direction of the State Department, “granted a specific license that authorized a conversion of Iranian assets worth billions of U.S. dollars using the U.S. financial system,” the report says.

Even after the license was issued, U.S. government officials continued to maintain in congressional testimony that Iran would not gain access to the U.S. system, according to the report.

The conversion to dollars, it turns out, never took place. And there is no claim that the license broke U.S. law. Most Republicans opposed the Iran deal, from which President Trump withdrew last month.

Democrats on the committee neither signed on to the report nor issued a minority report of their own. But Jarrett Blanc, former State Department coordinator of the Iran deal, called the report “wildly overblown.” He said the license was not made public but that Obama administration officials were “transparent with Congress.”

“This isn’t just rehashing old fights,” Blanc said. “The administration and its Hill supporters are trying to make it harder for the government to do the hard, day-to-day work of making sanctions effective without pushing Allies and partners to find work arounds.”

This is really astounding given how bad the agreement was in the first place, but now we’re discovering what else the Obama administration lied about. And consider this – if Trump hadn’t won, would the GOP have had access to this information to release the truth? Who knows…
