Obama ‘concerned’ about Palestinian civilian deaths but won’t condemn Hamas for using human shields

Obama made a statement on the conflict between Israel and Hamas a few moments ago, announcing that he is sending Kerry to help negotiate a ceasefire. Below is the important part:

We have serious concerns about the rising number of Palestinian civilian deaths and the loss of Israeli lives, and that is why it now has to be our focus and the focus of the international community to bring about a ceasefire that ends the fighting and that can stop the deaths of innocent civilians.

Obama’s answer to the rising number of Palestinian civilian deaths is to call for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Yet in his entire statement on the conflict in Israel and Gaza, not once did he mention or condemn the fact that Hamas is using their own people as human shields. That is strange because this tactic is in fact the biggest reason for the high number of civilian deaths in Gaza. It’s certainly not Israel’s fault.

Yet Obama calls for a ceasefire which in my opinion isn’t supporting Israel in the least, despite what he may say. If Obama really wants to support Israel he will condemn Hamas specifically and publicly and call on Israel to do as much damage to Hamas and their infrastructure as they possibly can. That would be a great statement.

But clearly that’s not going to happen.
