It was like pulling teeth, but CNN’s Barbara Starr was able to drag out of Chuck Hagel the fact that the White House pressured him to release Guantanamo Bay detainees faster than he thought was safe.

This comes after it was revealed that one of the released detaines in the Bergdahl deal was back to terrorist activities, even after many assurances from the Qataris and Obama that they wouldn’t be allowed to do so.
Hagel announced his resignation as Obama’s Secretary of Defense way back in November.
