The House is supposed to vote on the fiscal cliff deal that passed the Senate, however I’m not sure exactly when they will vote. In case they vote today I thought I’d start another open thread and leave you with the words of the Great One:

Some have been saying for weeks that Obama wants to go over the so-called fiscal cliff. But why would he when Republicans will vote to increase taxes $41 for every $1 in phony spending cuts? Obama gets his taxes, spending, and bloated federal government delivered to him by a bi-partisan gaggle of Democrat leftists and Republican cowards.

And yesterday Obama promised more of the same in 2013. He’s all giddy now as he orchestrates the destruction of what’s left of limited constitutional government and free market capitalism. And, of course, he’s doing it all out of his selfless devotion to the middle class. He and he alone stands for we, the people. After all, he nearly received 51% of the vote, which to Obama means we apparently have no unalienable rights.

Marx and Alinsky would be proud of their pupil. The Founders would be in utter disbelief. We should be furious.

    Mark, many of us are indeed furious. Almost insanely angry. The questions are: Are there enough of us to kick these devils out of our government and maybe our country? – and – Do we have the stomach for the ugly fight that is coming?

    There are many “first things” we must do to take this battle to those savages in office… but top of my list is exposing the hypocrisy and bias of the corrupt main stream media and get them discredited then eliminated. Only then, will the hypnotized, lazy lemmings start to understand how useful and idiotic they have been. Only then, can the truth pierce the darkness of their minds. Only then will we start to make progress again and win this battle and save our nation.

    We are way past tough talk and strong words. It’s past time to be serious and to get busy. But it’s not too late. It will be though before too much longer… Fight the good fight!

      You are correct. Remember: Andrew Breitbart told us the MEDIA is the enemy.

      We have to fight them. We have to expose their lies, their biases, and most importantly – their omissions, every chance we have. The media are corrupt, inept, and useless. We must never, ever stop fighting and exposing them for what they are. And that goes for the dupes in Congress as well.

      I believe that the tide is already starting to turn, as Conservatives are beginning to use Alinsky’s Rules on the leftists who have been using these tactics against us since the sixties when his rules and training became so popular with an element of a generation.

      These people who have studied at Alinsky’s institute in Chicago (Obama…) and practiced his principles (rules) have been ruling our country for some years’ now.
      But there are three recent (& encouraging) incidents where we show willingness to use those same tactics, their own tactics, against them; and I don’t think they realize what is hitting them…yet. We must continue this in our (spiritual) warfare.

The issue is always the revolution.” In other words the cause – whether inner city blacks or women – is never the real cause, but only an occasion to advance the real cause which is the accumulation of power to make the revolution.       I just re-read your comment, Sober, and I wanted to add to my previous comment.

Only those who are seeking the truth and those upon whom God will show mercy (which would be all of them, if they turned to the Lord) will ever see the light. The TRUTH has surrounded them all, as it has us believers, but instead they chose a lie…

        My wife tells me that I have to learn to love them… She’s right of course. I can pray for them and do pray that even the beast himself (Barack Obama) has his eyes opened and his heart turned… Now to find the faith to believe it could happen. Exactly how big is a mustard seed again? ;)

          However, I just cannot bring myself to pray for that evil, usurping fraud in our W.H. Even though I know what the Word says about praying for those in authority…I have talked it over with the Lord, so it is up to Him to make me willing to pray for him.

        Perhaps you are going to follow your own advice but I highly recommend no one else on this site do so. Do a bit of research on the criminal charges that can and likely will be brought against you. You are not Turbo Tax Timmy or part of the Barky Boy regime. Unfortunately, Barky Boy can unleash his IRS on us, he has Executive Orders that allow him to seize our energy, natural resources and our bank accounts.         In his words and his policies he is exactly what I’ve said, but even he knows that in his own personal life / that of his family, he cannot consistently practice what he preaches, without it leading him and his family to ruin/self-destruction. This causes a sense of guilt in him. A guilt which he assuages by doubling-down even harder on his words and his policies. Couple this with a hunger for power, and you’ve got yourself the beginning of an Obama.

    I think the House should pull a harry reid! Do a little grandstanding about how pathetic the Senate is. How they need to compromise and bring something meaningful and lasting to the table. Then table the legislation sent to the House by Senate. They should also say it wont come up for a vote because it is unlawful for a tax bill to originate anywhere but the House. Then tell harry he has several bills waiting on his table to pass, failure to pass one will result in defunding everything except what the house decides is basic obligations, and give a list of those.

    Then the House should come out and say O’care is illegal because it has been deemed “a tax” and did not originate in the House therefore it is void and will remain such as for collection of taxes, therefore it is defunded!

    At which time they should say these two subjects are done, discussion over! harry and the Senate have to pass or reject what has been sent them, the breakdown is their fault. O’care for all practical purposes is done, it has no funding.

        What bothers me is I see this as a distraction for what is really going on out of sight. If we notice there is always some big manufactured crises happening with this regime. Every time something unseen is being done to us with this distraction used as a tool to keep eyes and public knowledge away.           It is a distraction. He is ramping up the arming of illegals and will release felons and arm them to physically take our guns, our homes, our money and in the end our lives. Barky Boy has opened the southern border and Al Quaida is alive and well in Mexico and flowing through our border. He is entertaining the MB frequently in our WH.

            Why have DHS if our borders are not protected and drug gangs cross them freely. Putting up a sign to warn citizens of dangerous area due to this is allowing this to happen. That sure seems to be what is happening… Seems that DHS may very well be helping them.

      It is a great idea but it is not the Senate’s role to introduce Revenue legislation. Boehner needs to get on TV and blast Harry Reid for what he did, backroom deal with Barky Boy. The d@mn GOP Senators that will now allow Reid and Barky Boy to claim “it was a bipartisan tax increase on the wealthy”

    This country is DONE. This past election was as clear an indication as any we’re likely to get. Even though I still believe that “we” outnumber “them”, not enough of “us” trust enough, care enough, or whatever-enough to get up and vote. Romney could not seal the deal with the base. Period.

    Obamacare is the final nail in the coffin. It won’t matter that taxes will cripple us, that debt will crush us – all of that has been happening in socialist-democracy Europe for decades now – and nothing has been, or frankly CAN BE, done to fix it. It simply will collapse under its own weight.

    Just because we’re Americans does not mean we can escape the fate of every other country that has trod down this path. We are not immune to the outcomes history has demonstrated. Indeed, with the education of future generations squarely in the Marxist’s camp, we are ensured more and more will vote for more of the same; with the poorest, most uneducated and most indigent immigrants being welcomed with opened arms so long as they vote Democrat, we are ensured more and more will vote for more of the same; with the number of citizens on the government dole increasing almost exponentially, we are ensured more and more will vote for more of the same.

    I have looked at this from every angle – I have read the history of Rome, the philosophies presented so beautifully in Mark’s “Ameritopia”, and I see no escape.

    I’m not being a pessimist. I’m being a realist.

    I’m taking care of me and mine, as best I can. Hopefully, when it all crashes, we will be better prepared than most.

The final and greatest assault on our liberty has been achieved, and upheld by the Supreme Court: Obamacare. Once the government controls health care, they control YOU. Please cite me ONE country that has gone down that road and FIXED it (repeal, etc..). You cannot.

        The only “fix” (and it’s not a fix – fix implies bringing the original back to functionality after a slight defect) now is a COMPLETE rebuild once the whole damn thing collapses.

        Churchill quotes are great. But they don’t change the fundamental issues at hand. We are, depending on which estimate you believe, between 60 and 100 trillion dollars in “debt” (unfunded liabilities). You think we’re gonna come back from that? We’re gonna FIX that??!       No Carmen, this country is not done. Not yet, anyway. That is only what the Left want you to believe. 51% is not a mandate. It is a squeaker. Take away the obvious voter fraud and vote manipulation, and he probably would have lost.

      The Liberal Left are good at what they do. We just have to get better. It’s that simple.

      Romney could not gather the base. Okay, I’ll give you that. I don’t know why, exactly. The man is a decent human being. Far more decent than the Imposter currently living in the White House.

      I guess it reflects our current culture. Romney was a decent human being, with a strong faith, and a beautiful family, and he was a successful businessman. A PROVEN, successful businessman.

      He was defeated by a man who was not born here, had a dubious past, cannot produce his college transcripts or a legitimate birth certificate, whose only qualifications for the office, is that he was a Chicago Street Organizer and spent twenty years in Reverend Wright’s church, sitting in the front pew, and can’t remember a thing the Reverend said, in all those twenty years. He did not meet the qualifications of the Presidency, and yet he was elected anyway. Not once, but twice.

      This doesn’t speak to Obama’s qualifications. It speaks to the Democratic Party’s ability to get their false message out. They are good at that one thing. Of course, they have the Liberal media to help them do that. We don’t. We have to find a way to fix that.

      They own our educational system, from Kindergarten through Graduate school. We have to find a way to fix that.

      They are good with Saul Alinsky’s principles, we are not. We have to find a way to fix that.

      They are good at rigging the electronic voting machines, and having the dead rise from their graves to vote. We have to find a way to fix that.

      Carmen, I could go on all night with this, but I’m sure you get the point. We’re in the middle of a serious battle here, for the future of America. The future of our children and grandchildren. One of those children may be the next Reagan, or the next Margaret Thatcher. You never know.

      Take a deep breath. Get a good night’s sleep. Take another look at all of this tomorrow. I absolutely guarantee all of us will still be here.

      Remember this. Politics is often an illusion. The other side wants you to think they are winning, and you are losing. It is a strategy they use, because it works. The Republicans are just too stupid to grasp the idea.

      There are still enough God-fearing people in this country who would vote for Conservatives, if they thought Conservatives had their best interests at heart. Problem is, the Democrats have painted such a beautiful picture of those hateful, ugly Conservatives stealing Granny’s lunch, and taking away her benefits, that they believe it. And we represent the best choice. That is a given. Difference is, they are able to sell their criticism of our position. So far, we have not been able to even put a dent in theirs.

      We have to find a way to fix that.

        We are NOT drones. We’re the conservatives, the Democrats that haven’t lost their minds and can be shown the truth and the totally apathetic who never vote, never read a blog or a newspaper and never discuss politics or watch the news. That’s a pretty large group of people. Can we engage them all? Sure! How long will it take? Even if you could put a time frame on it (10 years? 20?), is it enough time to turn the tide? THAT is where I think the whole thing falls apart.

        I’m not against trying to fix something that’s broken.

        I’m simply questioning whether this country, AS FOUNDED, is simply broken, or is broken beyond all repair.

        And for good or for bad, I’m leaning towards the latter being the case. But I do appreciate your thoughtful response! And who knows? Maybe God will intercede, once again, and give this nation His blessing. Lord knows we need it.

    I am furious. I know others are furious- but what is emotion without action? Seems to me, people have been conditioned to be angry, but not enough to do something. So, what is it going to take to enfuriate people enough to spur them to action?
    I believe the Founders would not be in untter disbelief that our government has become a tyranny bent on becoming a dictatorship. I think their utter disbelief and sadness would be directed at the American people who allowed this to come. People have seen the signs for decades, if not a half a century. People have not been so asleep to have not seen progressive movements infiltrate our churches, education, media and government, but they were so focused on the material things which they believed were the results of pursuing happiness, they chose to ignore the threats believing it will never happen in America.
    Well, it’s happened. And we’ve continued to allow it. What are we going to do about it? Are you furious enough to DO something?

    What is our recourse? The First Amendment says something about people’s rights the right of freedom of speech, the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
    Seems to me, that we’ve all done this to no or little avail. I don’t know, but the Founders said it and did it pretty well when they laid the cornerstone of the Declaration in saying, “When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

    I might not know the whole of the Constitution, nor understand all the wording, but I don’t see anything in there about submitting to an Unconstitutional and tyrannical government. People have tried through the election process to vote for true representatives to speak for them, but too many are only representing their own interests and have forgotten that they are hired, and unfortunately they have been re hired by ignorant and clueless people only interested in what the Country (government) can do for them.
    What we witnessed in the last election, and the time leading up to it, is the complete corruption of the election process. The system is broken… sabotaged really, so can we depend on waiting a couple of years to try it again? Both parties are responsible. So, what do we do? What do people do when they see that everything they have tried, by writing, faxing, e mailing, calling, marching, praying, rallying and voting hasn’t worked? When the media is in the pocket for the government,when the government has committed acts of treason and impeachable offenses, yet no one raises a voice against them but a few, when fraud and free stuff is the bribe of the masses, what do those of us who love America do to fight back?

    I’d go with the Founders on this one. “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security..”

      Anecdotal response here: Anyone tried buying some ammo lately? How ’bout a handgun?

      Most major outdoor/sporting retailers cannot keep ammo in stock. I have been looking high and low for a Ruger SR1911, and after calling several gun shops was basically told that if they could GET them, they’d be selling them. But wait-lists are upwards of 8 weeks or even 6 months, depending.

      Talked to the guy at the range hubby and I shoot at, and he said he did $30,000 in sales of ammo in just 2 days last week. They had to put some ammo aside or else they would have simply run out. I recall saying something like “wow” or whatever, and he volunteered this: “In all my years (he’s former military, and working in this industry around 20 years), I have never seen anything like this. If I were a die-hard conspiracy guy, I’d say revolution is coming. But since I’m not, I’ll say this: SOMEthing is coming….”

As a good thing because people are determined to “stick to their guns” and protect their Constitutional rights,or it could be a scary thing in that a revolution is building. sDee posted something a few days ago- I’m going to try and find it. It was a scary scenario, but frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen. If it does, I pray that common sense and goodness will prevail.

          ABC, I LOVE that Bob-Owens blog. I have never read anything from him before, but it strikes me that great minds think alike.

          Hubby and I were talking about this kind of thing in the car after seeing the Hobbit (yeah, I know, TOTALLY not related to the movie we had just seen, but, that’s how we roll! ;) Anyway..)

          I suggested that, given what we were seeing in Congress/the Press/the White House after the Newtown murders, the 2nd Amendment was going to soon go the way of the 9th and 10th Amendment, and that unlike other government overreach, THIS would be the move that brewed a revolution.

          He countered that the last time certain citizens rebelled, the country lost over half a million men and the rebellion was eventually squashed. And that the make-up of the country was such that an open call to rebellion would result in those making the call being painted as RWNJ (right-wing nut jobs), not as Leaders in the Cause of Liberty.

          I countered that while his history was all true, his supposition that a call to revolution would be dismissed was wrong. I believe that any rebellion formed would include members of the military, other organized folks (militia-types) and tough-as-nails folks who would fight for freedom or die in the effort. The “other side” – those called to put down the rebellion – would certainly include current military/national guard. But, I do NOT for one moment believe that they will all (I’m not even sure 25% would) obey the order to fire on their own brothers and sisters. I believe that would be called to duty and would likely “mutiny” and/or join the rebellion themselves.

          I don’t believe that any rebellion would be squashed – and if it WERE, it would take out a considerable chunk of the “other side” as well, because only that kind of weaponry would likely be able to put down (completely) a revolution.

          He chewed on that for a moment, and proceeded to ask me what was my favorite part of the movie.

          Sobering stuff, I know…

This commission is to study the best way to deal with the aged and infirmed****** Commission is to do a six month study, members appointed by POTUS and both the majority/minority in both houses of Congress. In essence the make up will lean D for obvious reasons.

    *****Another important note buried in the bill. A revision of the National Defense Act having to do with arms control**** In order to know exactly what it means we’d need to read the pertinent parts of the National Defense Authorization Act…..but it references the Russian federation…..must be some of that flexibility Obama promised.

    You can find these things along with other pork like Pigford from section 643 forward……section 643 begins on page 123, that’s where the old folks commission starts.

        Neither howl, but Kees barks a lot. Barks to get out, barks to get in. barks at me to get up in the morning, and even tries to bully me into feeding him… Snowy only barks when he actually wants something, like a trip out. In the summer, they both sit out on a raised deck that overlooks the street and they love to sit out there. They then tell me if anyone is coming near the house. :-) What kind of doggy do you have and what’s her name?

          well we have three four legged family members. the alpha is named Nipsco. she is a boxer mix, red merle in color. then next came shelly. she is the one who yowls at the sirens. black and white bordercollie mix. then there is the prima-donna, gerty. black miniature schnauzer. she is the third schnauzer we have had. love em all. and they earn their keep in patrolling the property. Nipsco has the appearance of being a pitbul with the bark to back up the look. but she just a lover not a fighter

    The question is not how many are furious but how many are willing to do something about it and join a third party. As anyone can see neither establishment party has done anything but to increase our tax burden and their own control over our lives. Unless we have faith in God and courage to stand upon the principles we profess to believe we are no better than the pols who lie to us every two years to get our vote. It’s time to pray, to stand and to fight. If the founders could fight Britain we can certainly fight these yokels in DC.

    I now fell absolute vindication for supporting Gingrich. If nothing else came of it he would have schooled the ignorant about Islam, Obama, the Constitution, the war on religion and conservatism. Would he have made a good president? Was he to enamored with what government could or should do? I don’t know. What I am sure of is he would not have let the media or Obama get away with their lies and would have used a National platform to expose them which means we would have been further ahead than we are now.

    He’s working behind the scenes now and I look forward to his conclusions and recommendations for the future.

    A serious question. Since the original Bill (Bush Tax Cuts) officially expired, can the original Bill, having expired, now be Amended by the Senate as it appears it is doing to bypass the Constitution that all Revenue Bills must initiate in the House?

      aposematic, this has puzzled me too. As we all know by The Constitution, all tax and revenue bills must originate in the House. They cannot originate in the Senate. The Senate can, however, amend a bill sent to it by the House, and pass the amended bill.

      This is what they apparently did in this case. They essentially gutted a previous bill and then inserted all the language to make it into a new bill. Then they voted on and passed this existing bill with all the new language in it.

      Did the Senate originate a new bill? Of course they did. But through a technicality, they didn’t violate The Constitution, because they will say they simply amended a previous bill which originated in the House.

      I have tried to find the source bill they used, but haven’t been able to do so. Perhaps someone here on Scoop can help with that. The only reference I could find was this article on the Human Events site:

      It mentions the process in the first paragraph:

      A previous bill was used, but I have no idea which one.

      Here’s a little more general info as a refresher:

      Article I, Section 7 states that all revenue bills shall originate in the House of Representatives but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on any other bills. The reason for this is that at the time the Constitution was written, it was felt that Senators would be more wealthy than Representatives and might be willing to spend more government money than the Representatives would. Also, the House with its greater numbers was seen as being the better gauge of the wishes of the people for spending measures.

      Revenue bills were only to originate in the House because members of the House of Representatives are the only federal officials elected directly by the people. Senators, up until the ratification of the 17th Amendment in 1913, were chosen by the state legislatures. And the president was chosen by the Electoral College. At the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 it was felt that, in order for the new federal government to have sufficient legitimacy to gain popular support, it was imperative that at least part of the government would always have a popular mandate. Hence the three words at the beginning of the Constitution are “We the People.” This meant that the new government would derive its authority directly from the people and not from state governments.

      Since the ratification of the 17th amendment in 1913, both House Representatives and Senators are elected by we, the people. To tell you the truth, I don’t believe anyone in Washington cares anymore.

      The Framers of the Constitution’s concern that Senators might be more wealthy than Representatives, no longer holds water. There are plenty of millionaires in both houses of Congress, and they are all perfectly willing to spend our money. Take a look at the link below. It’s a real eye-opener.

Actually this renders Article 1, Section 7, of the Constitution worthless unless the House never ever sends any revenue Bills to the Senate again. The Senate may have file cabinets full of them already though. What a Government!!!!

          We have what I would call a, “loophole,” government. By that, I mean there is always a way around The Constitution, and legitimate government by legitimate Governors.

          Obama has a full-time wrecking crew, working 24/7, to find a way around the protections our Founders tried to leave us, all those years ago. In most cases, they are successful. Because in their innocence and lack of real knowledge of true despots like Obama, Our Founding Fathers simply could not have imagined such madness as this man is currently producing. It is not their fault. It saddens me that Obama can easily find so many willing people to help him with his sick agenda.

          You have to imagine the setting. They had just finished a war against England, and thrown off the shackles of that King who would still have them as Serfs this very day, if that were only possible. It was not diplomatic. Diplomacy could not have accomplished what they did. It was accomplished by brave men with guns. Men who had decided it was better to die, than live with tyranny.

          The situation we find ourselves in right now, is not that much different. If we do nothing to oppose him, this man who wasn’t even born here, and hates this country, will take away every single last freedom you and I have. That was his mission when he came here. It hasn’t changed.

          But the world has changed. The Founders didn’t have Liberals and Progressives and Socialists to deal with. We do. We also have a rather large population of people who look to the government for their daily existence. You and I get up in the morning and go to work. Fifty per cent of America gets up in the morning and goes to their mailbox. To get the check. The Obama check. The check that you and I pay for.

          I am not going to lie to you. Over the last few years, I have looked very seriously at the possibility of moving to Costa Rica, or Panama. Only thing that keeps me here, are my children and grandchildren. If I could somehow take them all with me, I’d be gone tomorrow. I really mean that.

          There is no real freedom left in this country. It is an illusion. The Federal Damned Government takes away a little more of your freedom each day, and you don’t even notice. Don’t believe me? Take a look sometime at all the new bills that are passed by Congress each year. I bet you never did that. I bet most Americans never did that.

          Every single one of those bills takes away a small part of your freedom. That is what they are designed to do.

          We have to stop the process. We cannot allow it to continue.

            I am retired, have been for several years now, and I have tried to keep up with all the Bills and failed. It would take an office with dozens of people doing nothing else and I bet they couldn’t keep up. Oh, the Bill Amended was H.R. 8 (my Congress critter just sent an e-mail saying he voted against the Senate Amendments to that Bill), I’m going to Thomas.gov (I think that’s it, haven’t been in a while) and look it up. I too have thought about moving, or at least converting my cash to some other currency. Wow, so much to figure out now. Never imagined America could have gone so wrong; always felt the people were too smart to let this happen but alas, here we are rushing to the bottom.

        As for Senators being elected by the people (17th Amend.): Those people are mainly in the big cities, already accustomed to enslavement by their local masters. I live in VA. If you look at a map of the 2012 election, over 70% red but painted 100% blue by the N.E. VA DC suburbs, E. Coast VA, and the Central VA UVA area. Yet the State Gov. is Red. Same for States like Ohio. I still believe its the MSM/Press and Education (i.e. false info outlets) that got us to this point.

    This is all nothing more than political theatrics aimed at further weakening the GOP. Any deal cut over the short term won’t even dent the deficit, let alone trimming the national debt. What should happen now is for the House to defeat the Senate bill and turn immediately around and produce a new bill that nixes tax hikes below incomes less than $1M. The media will have to address it and it will be supported by the American people.

    Over on teaparty.org, Dr. Jerome Corsi posted an article by Grover Norquist, outlining what he thinks this fiscal cliff thing is all about. It makes more sense than anything I have read on the subject.

    “Noted tax expert Grover Norquist believes Obama’s stated goal of getting Republicans to agree to increase taxes on the rich is not the real goal of the Obama administration or Democrats in Congress.”

    “This is just the first act of a two- or three-act play,” Norquist said, arguing that Obama will insist on some form of tax rate increase for the highest income earners as part of any last-minute deal passed by Congress to avoid the fiscal cliff.

    When Ron Paul faces a mother in labor he says , “Push!” he doesn’t say, “Well, I’m a libertarian, so I can’t tell you what to do…”

    Despite the fact that his delegation was treated abominably by jerks at the convention, Paul should have sucked it up and said, “Anyway guys, now is the time to PUSH, and get a Republican back in the WH, and we will continue our work with a new administration.”

    It’s about being realistic for the sake of being effective, instead of proud and shooting yourself in your own foot.
