Paul Ryan says he’s received assurances that Trump isn’t considering the firing of Robert Mueller as special counsel:
NY POST – House Speaker Paul Ryan said he’s been assured that President Trump won’t fire special counsel Robert Mueller who’s been looking into Russian interference in the 2016 election and any collusion by Trump campaign associates.
“I received assurances that his firing is not even under consideration,” the Wisconsin Republican said on Tuesday, according to the Washington Times.
Ryan said he’s “confident” Mueller will be able to complete his investigation out of respect to the rule of law.
I hope that’s true and remains true. Even though Mueller is expanding his investigation, I still think vindication by Mueller remains Trump’s best hope at this point to get the media off his back on the Russia issue.
