Bill Kristol said today that he agrees that Trump’s comments about illegals from Mexico were crude and inappropriate, but he wasn’t willing to completely throw him under the bus like so many others. Instead, Kristol said this:
It’s not ridiculous to be concerned about crimes committed by illegal immigrants and about whether our federal policies are sending those people back or keeping those people in jail the way we should be. The idea that’s going to be an embarrassment to the Republican Party, that Trump is raising that issue when President Obama and his administration have purposely cut back on the deportations and tolerated sanctuary cities and so forth. I don’t think Trump hurts the Republican Party in that respect.
