Sarah Sanders APOLOGIZES

Sarah Sanders said recently in her press briefing that Trump had created more than three times as many jobs as Obama had created for black Americans:

This President since he took office, in the year and a half that he’s been here, has created 700,000 new jobs for African-Americans. That’s 700,000 African-Americans that are working now that weren’t working when this President took place. When President Obama left, after eight years in office, he had only created 195,000 jobs for African-Americans.

But apparently that wasn’t true and the White House Council of Economic Advisers took the blame on Twitter for misinforming Sanders:

Sanders in turn apologized for the error via her own Twitter:

Correction from today’s briefing: Jobs numbers for Pres Trump and Pres Obama were correct, but the time frame for Pres Obama wasn’t. I’m sorry for the mistake, but no apologies for the 700,000 jobs for African Americans created under President Trump

Here’s the tweet:

When she says the error was based on time frame, I believe it’s because the labor stats the economic council gave her were only for the first two years of Obama’s first and second term. In other words, they didn’t include all eight years in the assessment as it was trying to make a tit for tat comparison with Trump’s 1.5 years in office.

So either they screwed it up the first time they gave it to her or she misread it. Either way, she’s apologized and corrected.
