By The Right Scoop

This is exactly what is wrong with the Republican Party. Corker thinks that by refusing to pass a CR with Obamacare funding, Republicans will be ‘taking themselves out of the debate’ and he says that ‘lacks courage’.

THE HILL – Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) on Tuesday blasted a plan endorsed by at least a dozen Republican senators to shut down the government to block funding for ObamaCare.

“I think it’s a silly effort,” Corker said on MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown.” “What people are really saying who are behind that effort is that we don’t have the courage to roll up our sleeves and deal with real deficit reduction and spending decisions and we want to take ourselves out of the debate and act like we’re being principled to the American people.”

“I don’t look at that as very courageous, I think most of us see through it and realize that these people are really just taking themselves out of the debate,” Corker continued.

“We’ve got an opportunity to get our country right as it relates to fiscal issues. We’ve taken some big steps and when people take themselves out of the game like this, I think people see through it and understand what’s really taking place,” he added.

Among the obvious, Corker says something I find utterly ridiculous:

We’ve got an opportunity to get our country right as it relates to fiscal issues.”

Has he not been paying attention during the last 5 years? Corker apparently doesn’t understand that this leftist administration has no inclination to set our country right “as it relates to fiscal issues”. And this is a big part of his problem.

The only way to deal with this leftist administration is to show strength, courage, and grit. The only way to get any fiscal sanity at all is to FIGHT FOR IT. And what better way to fight for it than to withhold funding from Obamacare. Either we give them the spending they want and defund Obamacare, or they give us the spending we want and they get Obamacare funding. We must set the debate on our terms!

But this fight is about more than just Obamacare and fiscal issues. Here is something I wrote yesterday on twitter:

Republicans like Corker just don’t get it. By refusing to fund Obamacare we will be creating a new debate…a debate that will draw the American people in droves behind the Republican Party. When the American people see a party that actually has their best interest at heart, they will know exactly who to vote for.

But if we are unwilling to do that, we will lose. In fact it feels like we’ve already lost.

Like Rush said, the GOP was never against Obamacare, they love it.  Boehner is holding meaningless votes against Obamacare, and from my understanding he could have unfunded it a long time ago.  Serious efforts need to be made to boot these Rhinos out of office next year and in 2015.

      Agreed.

The Sentinel  Tallgal83 More constitutional conservatives need to run against the incumbents in Congress – that includes the average citizen. With grassroot elections, we can take back this country.

LU RS! Keep up the good work. Boner is meaningless.

Notice the similarity in the language between Barack and the Republicans: scandals are “phoney” and this effort is “silly.”  It’s like I said: we don’t have two parties in our country any longer, we have one.  It’s us versus them, and Corker demonstrates this as ably as does the Kenyan-in-Chief.

      Excellent.

This moronic mentality from the bonehead who had the disastrous “solution” to their ignorant and self-serving illegal alien bill.
Republican meetings or moments before the press have a mandatory policy of: check your brain and your spine at the door.
What a complete fool. He has no business being in the senate.

    • Pancake3

The Sentinel  And certainly not as a Republican!

  • Rshill7

“Lacks courage ?” You need a new definition tot he word you wispy pansie!
“…take ourselves out of the debate and act like we’re being principled to the American people.”
I don’t suppose you’d know principle if it strutted up to your face, pulled your nose off, and swallowed it.
Steal a pair of Ted Cruz’s shoestrings and weave them together with Mike Lees shoestrings and hang yourself, ok?
No? Too late, that’s exactly what you’ve just done. Swing you weak piece of quivering gelatin!
    You suck!

  • TIMERUNNERSC

Another lost RINO , time for this one to change parties, and stay on the reservation he wants everyone else to live on..

  • PhillyCon

Uh, voting for funding is what lacks courage.  Talk about upside down “reasoning.”

    • strangernfiction

      PhillyCon Very Leftist of him.

I think Corker is scared of Obama.

As one of the top three most freedom loving states Tennessee needs to wake-up and replace both of its establishment Republican Senators.

No offense but isn’t Tennessee the state that gave us Al; Gore Sr. and ‘Al-Jazzera’ Gore Jr.?
One thing I will say in the defense of Tennessee though, ‘Al-Jazzera’ Gore couldn’t even carry his home state in the Bush/Gore Presidential election. ;-)

  • Laurel A

Scoop nailed that!!! As I have said repeatedly we are looking for warriors. Apparently Corker isn’t one of them.

And to think we raised to believe our public figures were supposed to be the best and he brightest! Turns out most of them are bottom feeders incapable of doing anything else. They raise their children to be that way also and ‘inherit’ their seats. And to think we overthrew a monarchy…..

  • Conservator1

I agree with Sen. Cruz on the need for Republicans to demonstrate that they have the courage to defund Obamacare. Most Americans would support Cruz’s position as Obamacare continues its downward spiral among folks on the right and left.
While I completely disagree with Republicans like Corker on this topic, I also realize that you can’t defund Obamacare via a Continuing Resolution (CR). Obamacare is almost completely funded presently. That’s because the Affordable Care Act was mostly funded by mandatory spending versus discretionary spending.
The CR only affects discretionary spending and as I understand it, that’s about 1 to 2 percent or about $10 billion in fiscal year 2014.
While you can’t defund Obamacare via the CR, Republicans can certainly make this a campaign issue for 2014 by following the lead of Senators like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.

    • Conniption Fitz

Cruz says it will take a huge Grass Roots response to wake up the DC Legislature.
Call – write your Senator, Congressmen and every committee chair.

      • Conservator1

Conniption FitzI would love to follow your advice, but I live in NY. It wouldn’t make a difference to my lefty Senators; Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer. When I call their offices to register my complaints, they no-longer have the decency to send a fracking form letter.

  • LouisLaGuardiaIII

I voted for Corker in 2006 and last year, never again. He has shown that he doesn’t have a backbone and as as a transplant Tennessean I apologize for voting for this embarrassment to our state and country

You don’t have any courage to do anything.  Tennessee, get rid of this guy.  Texas will get rid of Cornyn in 2014.

    • deTocqueville1

MaroonRepublic It is a meaningless run on thought(less) process for the dolt.

  • Conniption Fitz

He’s projecting – describing himself.  He is silly.  He is the one not making sense.

  • marketcomp

If he really thinks this is s “silly” why don’t he go on FOX news or other radio stations to make his case as Sen. Cruz and Sen. Lee has done instead of going on MSNBC? By using the CR to not fund Obama care  starves the HHS crippling their efforts to enforce this horrible law and use it against Republicans as has been done with the IRS. This administrative  arm responsible for enforcing Obamacare would be a step in the right direction. Corker is just another useful idiot for the left but coming from the right. Will someone tell Lindsey, McCain, Corker, Coburn (Obama’s buddy in the Senate) and the rest to just join the Democrat party because that would make things a lot easier  for Conservatives who are fighting to save and  keep our Republic,

  • Booker

Republicans like Corker need to steamrolled when the movement gets started because they are a waste of space and time.

  • pmb88

“We’ve got an opportunity to get our country right as it relates to fiscal issues.” – Obamacare is a fiscal issue, so what Corker saying is ‘silly’ and ‘lacks courage’.

    • PapaLouie

      pmb88
Yes, you are exactly right. Obamacare is a fiscal issue. If Corker won’t stand up to Obama on this issue, he won’t do it on any issue. It’s clear that he only wants to give lip service to solving our spending problem. Corker the Cowardly RINO lacks the courage to do anything except criticize those fellow Republicans who do want to take action. It appears that the McCain yellow fever virus is quickly spreading throughout the GOP.

  • marketcomp

So can we say that the visit to Chattanooga, TN (Corker and Fist home State) by Obama is payback to Corker for his support? I think we all know the answer.

  • tinlizzieowner

“I think it’s a silly effort,” Corker said on MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown.”.
Is there anything else we need to know about this story?

  • njmom

Completely agree Scoop. Corker and some others are part of the problem. Fools, one and all.

  • NJK

Come on, Corker, put your big boy pants on, we know who the real cowards are.  It’s not as though you’re being asked to fight like George Washington and the soldiers did.  It’s not like you’re being asked to risk your life and fortune to establish a country like America.  We’re only asking you to put on your big boy pants, and not fund a bill that is going to hurt people.  You call others cowards, and you don’t even have the courage to stand up to big, bad, Barry Soetoro?  By the way, when you appear on MSNBC, you’ve already given up your right to criticize those who have the courage to fight.  Little creep.

“In fact it feels like we’ve already lost.”

I keep saying that the GOP could very likely lose the House in 2014. Still feel that way.

  • Pancake3

Corker and the other RINOs are the reasons Republicans just can’t get any votes today.  Good luck to them in 2014 and 2016; they’ll need it.

  • lawngreen

Corker, stick a cork in it. Take your party and dismember it. I’ve seen fence posts that had more brains than you and all your traitor RINO buddies combined, and weasels would sneer at your total lack of patriotism.

57thunderbird I can think of a great deal of other things to use.

  • kong1967

Huh?  How is defunding Obamacare taking us out of the debate?  I kinda liked Cruz’s explanation that it will get people engaged so they’ll put the fire under politicians’ feet to do something about it.  Quite frankly, I don’t see that passion from politicians any more to even do anything, even if we get control of the Senate and the Presidency.  I was worried about a backfire and losing seats, but never about removing us from the debate.
More seats won’t do anything if the R’s aren’t serious about repealing the bill.  The people are going to have to be engaged to force them to do it, even if we have both houses and the Presidency.  I was figuring that maybe the ill effects of Obamacare would get people engaged, but after listening to Cruz defunding it would also get people engaged.

    • Stehekin912

Agreed!  No debate is necessary!  This bill is nightsoil.  Shred it and let it become compost – that is all it is worth.
And yes, he is an idiot.

  • PapaLouie

If being “courageous” means giving in to the Democrats on every major issue of our time (Obamacare, spending, and border security) why do we need Republicans? Why not just elect Democrats who will do what Corker thinks is the courageous thing to do?
Corker may argue that by giving into Obama on the major issues, he will be able keep his seat at the table and then cut a dime or two from the budget. But if Obama threatens to shut down government if even a dime is cut from his budget, Corker will have to give in to him again to keep his seat at the table. History has taught us that you never win with the “courageous” policy of appeasement. It also teaches us that cowards like Corker always try to redefine their cowardly acts as acts of courage.

  • micasanow

Who determined that Corker was a Republican. Looks to me like if one does whatever the democrats want, that person is not a good Republican.

  • DebbyX

    Yup, you’re right…………….he’s an idiot.

  • Dr. Frank Lippenheimer

“Lacks courage”?  Corker’s an Obama clone.  Just mouth the words.  They don’t need to mean anything.  The time has come: Term Limits.  It’s the only way to save the People and the Constitution from these Stupid ruling elites.

  • https://sites.google.com/site/warpminesblog/ warpmine

Well, if COrker had to enroll his family in the disastrous Obama-care, you can bet your last 2 cents, he would defund it but you and I know that’s exactly how the Nimrods in the Senate think….for thee and not for me.

  • strangernfiction

Another Repubican I would vote against in the general.

  • jamesbotts16309

Nice job Tennessee in 2012. You sent that guy back for another 6 years.
Please tell me you aren’t going to do the same thing with Lamar Alexander in 2014!

  • strangernfiction

Reading this post I’m amazed at how many are attributing Corker’s statist actions to stupidity. The man is not stupid, HE. IS. A. STATIST.

  • bluerose3335

Shove a Cork in it Corker!  How can people in TN vote for this Liberal piece of garbage?  That is right corkscrew….lets see KEEP OBAMASCARE and it ever escalating and unascertainable TRUE COSTS and somehow that will put us on a FISCAL PATH TO SOLVENCY??  Is Johnny Carson around with Ed McMahon to LAUGH???  He is one of the STUPIDEST Senators in the GOP…he is utterly nothing more than a TAX AND SPEND LIBERAL…the people in TN must realize the only reason he runs with an R is because he could not get elected with a D.  Anyone bonfide bonehead thagt things SPENDING MORE and MASSIVE GOVERNMENT somehow is Fiscal Discipline…took the the Hotel Early Checkout from Reality and is utterly ignorant and never looked at the Bill!

  • poptoy1949

Looks like Tenn. could use a TEA PARTY Senator and get this idiot out of the way.  Actually it could use two.

  • bobomack

It’s quite obvious the Republican party has lost it’s back bone and is playing catch up to the Democrats, who show just about no regard for the American people or the Constitution. Both parties show no respect to the will of the American people, whom their supposed to represent. Instead the only loyalty they show is to their parties, which both parties need a wake up call!!  Promises made on the campaign trail are not transcending  to their duty in office to represent we the people!! Those who fail to protect our liberties and freedom, deserve neither liberty or freedom!!

  • PVG

This actually gives me hope, proving that anyone can be a senator. No special skills, critical thinking, or intelligence. It’s wide open folks, surely these idiots can be primaries easily.
