Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Pride of Texas) rambles incoherently on payroll tax cut extension

As is so often the case, I honestly have no idea what Sheila Jackson Lee is talking about here. Something to do with Christmas tree lights popping, then the trees burning down in people’s houses, as a result of GOP opposition to the payroll tax cut extension.

As she sees it, the GOP is literally “putting the American people in darkness.”

Apparently the only thing separating working Americans from this cruel fate is an extra $20 per paycheck, at the expense of funding Social Security and Medicare.

Lee is so frustrated, she is even calling on Obama to simply exert executive power to implement the payroll tax cut extension. I’ll have to consult my pocket U.S. Constitution to be certain, but I’m pretty sure he has no such power:

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said Tuesday that President Obama “absolutely” should use his executive power to continue the unemployment benefits and payroll tax cut extension and said she hoped to discuss the option with the White House later in the day.
