Sheila Jackson Lee says entitlements aren’t the issue, but even if they were who among us will cut them? She goes on to say that Medicare is solvent until 2024 and Social Security is…well, it’s just solvent.

In other words, let’s stop talking about entitlements people!

Good night, did she just say you don’t talk about healthcare overnight?

oh, Sheila…..the Texas state nincompoop! :P

you know what’s “solvent”? Getting RID of “entitlement” (emphasis on quotation marks) programs, plus a certain commie-in-chief ;)

This from the woman who asked NASA to pan over to where the we planted the flag (only they were looking at Mars, not the moon). True story. Still dealing if fairy tales.

If SS is solvent, then WHY did Barack Obama threaten that SS checks would not go out during one of the government shut-down scares?

    • Rightstuff1

I would suggest that she has overheard the word solvent but has not taken the time to actually go and look it up.

We are ruled by gruesome ghouls like her and the idiots that send her to congress and even more stupid. Consider this – She is at the top of the food chain in the Dem Party.

Do you think she can even spell unfunded-liability or even attempt to explain it to herself let alone her constituents?

This country is truly truly in trouble. There can be no reasoning or compromise with her or her ilk. Fiscal cliff anyone?

      • http://www.facebook.com/paul.christian.942 librtifirst

Isn’t solvent something used for cleaning auto parts? :)

      • trouble06

There’s a mental midget on a certain website who keeps posting his talking points about SS being solvent. He probably sent those power points to mental midget Sheila, she took them and ran.

    • Sober_Thinking

      Great point.

I don’t know if I can listen to someone who says “entitlements is not the issue”. The bad grammar alone is enough to reduce people’s confidence in what you are saying.

Oh cripes. If I have to hear one more stinking time about throwing out grannie, I’m going to be out a decent computer.
Give me a break you hypocritical ignoramous! You know dam**d well no one intends to take money or care away from those who are retired. It’s not like we’re suggesting the death panels you a$$.
It’s not about entitlements? Really. They are included in the massive amounts of government debt you jackwagon.

All entitlements (excluding net interest) total nearly 62 percent of all federal spending today. I don’t have the figure on the top of my head, but 60 percent of a few trillion is a he!! of a lot of money, just in giving so called free stuff.

You want to talk about throwing grannie out into the streets, ok, what about grannie’s medicare? Obamacare includes $716 billion in spending cuts to Medicare, which will be used supposedly to help offset new spending on non-Medicare provisions. Yet, The Medicare chief actuary warns that these cuts are unrealistic and unsustainable, adding billions more to the budget deficit.
What about food stamps?! Spending on food stamps doubled in inflation-adjusted terms from $42 billion in 2008 to $85 billion in 2012. In 4 freaking years look at the increase!
We can NOT afford it you idiot! I don’t care if there were 3 million warrent buffets in this country- if they all paid every dime they earned, we’d still be over spent and short. Get a grip you people and deal in reality. What if you ran your own house like this?! You’d be in prison for fraud and ponzi schemes.
Oh crap, I’ve had enough of this for the day.

  • marketcomp

Is this throwback an economic guru? I think NOT!

  • 911Infidel

Now if Shelia the She-wolf actually had a working brain, I’d tell her this:

“Medicare’s finances are in grave trouble. Years ago, Congress decided to reduce Medicare spending by paying doctors less to treat Medicare patients. That was an unsustainable idea—and Congress realized it later. Every year, instead of allowing the automatic cuts to doctor pay, Congress has made a temporary patch called the “doc fix” that keeps payments coming—which helps delay substantial Medicare reform. Now, “Unless Congress patches together another doc fix agreement before December 31, physicians will see a 27 percent decrease in pay, a situation that will make it unaffordable for many doctors to continue accepting Medicare patients.” – Heritage Foundation

    • http://www.facebook.com/paul.christian.942 librtifirst

There are some doctors that will do as much as they can, but eventually they will not be able to afford it. Eventually, nobody will be able to afford it. I think that this is the point of Obama Care.

Dumber than a box of rocks: Sheila Jackson Lee

  • Patriot077

Anyone who would believe that idiot, elected or not, deserves whatever they end up with.

  • iaintlyin

No thank you ma’am, I’ve had enough fruitcake for this lifetime.

With very little respect due but giving it none the less, I’d have to say this chick is mentally unstable . I believe her thought process is stunted or challenged or any other politically correct term you would use instead of retarded. That speech was 100% out of a Hollywood script involving a stark raving mad racist woman being part of a gov’t that will soon have less than 50% of the population paying for more than 50%.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwWW2DQS_DU Booker T.

“Entitlements is not the issue. And if so …”

Wait, what? Is it the issue or isn’t it? What is wrong with this woman?

  • tshtsh

Are there any brainy Democrats or is that the ultimate oxymoron?

    • http://www.facebook.com/paul.christian.942 librtifirst

I would actually like to see a study that determines the percentage of democrats who were breast fed as babies. They say that those who are breast fed have been proven to grow larger brains. This is apparently due to the nutrients and fat content in mother’s milk. The brain is said to be mostly fatty tissue. It is also said that people who receive vaccines as babies, and didn’t breast feed, can suffer more brain damage, as the blood brain barrier develops until they are one year old or older, and that is what keeps out the heavy metals and neuro-toxins.

      Just saying……

Edit: Next time I meet a democrat, I am going to ask them if they were breast fed as a child.

  • UnCL3

no, dumba$$, they aren’t (unless you’re from the planet ||3gr0damus).

    • louisiana_mom

Unfortunately, when her district votes, they vote for the candidate that promises them the most free stuff… a bag of rocks could get elected as long as it had a “D” after it’s name and promised free stuff.

    She’s a dumbass.

  • http://www.facebook.com/TXStorm Jeff Geyer

Well, the 18th Congressional District is not known as the Rhodes Scholar area of Houston. If it was not for the entitlements the Crown Weaved Princess keeps promising these people, she would have never been re-elected. She is a total embarrassment to the great state of Texas, and the Houston area. I sincerely believe she is not mentally stable, and should leave office. She is so well known for her completely off the wall, ridiculous remarks in front of Congress. Who, in their right mind would believe anything she says?

  • repubboy

This woman is a pure WACK job ! Yep wackier than a three dollar bill..

    • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

      that made me lol!

  • http://www.facebook.com/paul.christian.942 librtifirst

My mother is in a nursing home, and the state pays $4k per month for her to be there. She is on medicaid, and social security. They take her SS check and let her keep $150 per month. Not all of her medications are covered, so I pick up the bill for the rest. I just spent $400 making up for an accounting error so that she could keep getting them from the pharmacy. I pay for anything else that she needs.

I know that the state doesn’t cover the whole bill, and that federal funds must cover a lot of it. I also know that there are many thousands of people in the same boat. Prior to going to the home, she lived with me for a couple of years. I ran her meds, bought her groceries for her, and whatever else was required. When she became physically unable to move around, my brother got her in the system, and the nursing home.

My brother lives on SS disability. My father does as well. My grandmother has a federal pension and insurance from the BLM. My sister served in Iraq and Egypt before becoming a federal prison guard, then was forced to retire due to epilepsy. Now she is on an early retirement disability situation.

I say all of this to emphasize how bad off many people are, and if this is just my family, I can’t imagine the scope of people involved and dependent on the social systems.

Since we have had these systems for so long, our society has adjusted socially, and is now not capable of supporting themselves. When the systems fail, and they will, there will be civil unrest, pain and suffering, starvation and disease like nobody has ever witnessed in America. The great depression and the dust bowl had nothing on the coming crisis.

My mother is schizophrenic and is dependent on drugs. My brother and sister are both epileptics. My grandmother is 85 years old, and my father cannot physically stand for very long. My mother is 300lbs and wheelchair bound.

Who is going to take care of them all?

I do not know what will happen if things get bad, or benefits get cut. I believe that I will take on the brunt of supporting whoever is the worst off. I can say this much, I will have to give up all of my personal aspirations and take care of family. I don’t even know how possible it will be.

With all of this said, I still support getting rid of the social systems. They are a death nail no matter how you slice it, and all of the easy times that we have had will be balanced by a really bad times, because the easy times were a fraud, and the penalty must be paid. This I know, and have accepted.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jaspersilvis Jasper Silvis

God bless you. I don’t know what else to say.

    • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

That’s a lot on one person’s shoulder’s librityfriend. While you are a decent, caring and responsible person, it sucks that it’s the decent responsible people are going to suffer the most out of all of this freaking mess. My prayers are with you my friend. xoxoxo

      • http://www.facebook.com/paul.christian.942 librtifirst

At least I expect it. I am trying to enjoy my personal freedom while I have it. I certainly hope that I will have more help later than I do now. People are going to have to pull together. God will bless the whole thing, because we are listening and preparing. I am putting up a whole lot more food than I would need, even though the ones that I will have to support refuse to now.

Maybe it is my way of providing when I have no one else to provide for. God made me a provider, so I don’t deny the impulse.

This is one of the most intellectually honest arguments that I have ever heard. I was very impressed. It speaks to the subject of female protectionism and feminism in our culture. She doesn’t argue from a spiritual perspective, but makes some excellent points about human nature.

      • http://www.facebook.com/paul.christian.942 librtifirst

Thanks much. It would be nice if I had more help. Many people today are pretty self absorbed and don’t prioritize family. That is going to have to change as we go into austerity mode, and Obama Care goes into full effect.

  • Micky Baker

Yeah, it’s solvent, only if bankruptcy isn’t real and if the money is actually there and if Obama’s own appointees didn’t sign the annual reports. Sheila Jackson Lee is a typical, lying, piece of crap, irresponsible, politician.

  • virtualjohn

Sheila Jackson Lee is an embarrassment to Jamaica High of Queens. to Yale University, to UV Law School, to the people of Houston, to the United States House of Representatives and to all of the American people. The fact that this woman can be elected to the House and then re-elected time after time helps explain why our country is in such sorry shape. Each and every time anyone, anytime, anywhere listens to anything she has to say we all are a little dumber.

In July 2010 Jackson Lee said: “Today, we have two Vietnams, side by side, North and South, exchanging and working. We may not agree with all that North Vietnam is doing, but they are living in peace. I would look for a better human rights record for North Vietnam, but they are living side by side.” It was noted that Vietnam had not been split for four decades.

The Hill reported in 1997 that Jackson Lee had asked NASA officials whether the Mars Pathfinder photographed the U.S. flag that Neil Armstrong had planted on Mars. When this incident was reported, her chief of staff wrote a letter to the editor suggesting that it had been racist to point out the congresswoman’s error.

I can’t even watch this video. The only reason I wanted to comment on this post was to ask how she is still in office. She has to be the dumbest member of congress out there. I’m being serious to, not joking or anything. She is a moron. Who is dumber though, her or the retards that keep her in office. Ughh…..what a disgrace to American government.

    • jleinf

Have you seen that video of Hank Johnson? He might possibly been dumber than SJL.

      • Myptofvu

Is he the guy who thought the island would tip over if the military built a base there?

        • tinlizzieowner

Yup, he’s the same moron whose never been to Andersen AFB Guam. One of the biggest B-52 ‘parking lots’ in Southeast Asia during the Viet Nam war.

  • Myptofvu

If they are paying SS with the money they collect today which is supposed to be put aside for later how is that solvent? Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked that its too logical a question.

  • http://navalwarfare.blogspot.com/ Libertyship46

Hey, it all falls under the heading of “free stuff” for people like Sheila Jackson Lee and her minions. But they never seem to say who will pay for all this “free stuff.” Oh, I know, it’s those “evil rich people.” THEY are the ones that need to be hanged from the nearest lamp post, right Sheila? Problem is, when you run out of rich people and run out of spending other people’s money, you’re broke, like we almost are right now. You end up like Greece and all those other bankrupt European social-welfare states. But Sheila says there’s no problem with either Social Security and Medicare. And when we do go bankrupt, where will we get the money from? Oh, that’s right, people like Sheila Jackson Lee. I’m sure that’s going to go over real well.

  • jleinf

  • pmb88

why would I trust whats shes saying when she thought the American flag was planted on Mars. Sheila do you think that Guam will tip over. Entitlements are solvent as much as her intelligence is solvent.

    • Suzyqpie

Sheila owns the mars flag. Her fellow traveler, Hank Johnson, gets the Guam trophy.

  • TruLevinian

LMAO! Now I wish they all would behave this way. Most of the libs try to diguise their craziness in one way or another. Some are even hiding in the closet at the RNC. But not many are willing to display their true selves in the same manner as this lady. Keep it up honey!

  • Nukeman60

Social Security is…well, it’s just solvent.

Yep. As solvent as a room full of paper IOU’s can be, I imagine.

So if that’s true, Congresswoman, then why has your side tried to scare senior citizens with the fear of falling off that proverbial cliff or of losing their benefits if we don’t raise the debt ceiling? How many times has your side used false information to get the American people to vote your way?

Yes, Congresswoman, let’s just tell them the truth. Now wouldn’t that be a unique idea in politics.

  • dk_in_tn

    She is a WACKO!!!!

  • Suzyqpie

Social security is a ponzi scheme. I Suggest that we spring Bernard Marcus on a work release program to run it. Bernard Marcus ran the same sort of scheme very successfully for years. Let’s capitalize on his unique skill set to keep the scared social security scam appear solvent for a few more years.

  • Matt Adair

how many times do we ask ourselves ‘is’ entitlements the issue?

  • Sam wojcik

there better be something there for me and all of those who worked and paid into it. the govt has used and abused SSI and medicare; used it like it was there private piggy bank to pad the politically connected in what can only be described as Odious Debt.

since the creation of the FED, i bet most of our “debt” is Odious.
