It looks like that Steve Deace really believes Cruz is going to endorse Trump. He just went on a short tweetstorm on Twitter about it and here’s what he said:
Quick tweet storm coming on Cruz's coming endorsement of Trump today….

1) Politically I believe it's a disastrous decision for reasons that are too numerous to mention on Twitter. So I will in upcoming @CR piece
— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) September 23, 2016
2) Personally, I'm disappointed. Disappointed that a lot of people are going to be disappointed.
— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) September 23, 2016
3) That being said, while I vehemently disagree morally and politically, I will view this in the context of Ted's full record.
— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) September 23, 2016
4) Ted is still one of the best senators we have. And I hope he's happy there, because odds he'll be president severely diminished.
— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) September 23, 2016
5) I'll still root for Ted though I disagree. He didn't completely abandon me when I did something dumb last fall. I'll return the grace.
— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) September 23, 2016
6) But again, I think it's the worst political miscalculation of my lifetime. I hope I am wrong. The people will decide that.
— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) September 23, 2016
7) I'm just sorry to see so many people letdown again. That's the toughest part of this for me. I grow weary of seeing people disappointed.
— Steve Deace (@SteveDeaceShow) September 23, 2016
8) I'm used to being letdown. It's a state of being in this line of work. But the people deserve better. I wish I could give it to them.

End of tweetstorm.

I am still holding out hope that Cruz isn’t going to do it, but it looks like all signs are pointing in that direction, including his silence in the face of all the reporting.
Honestly, I just don’t see how this helps Cruz or Trump. It does nothing for Trump, except to enlarge his already ginormous ego.
But for Cruz, at least in my opinion, this will only HURT him and in more ways than one. He will no longer looks like the “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” type of person. I know getting elected is important, but his claim to fame is that he is a man of principle. If he does this, he will look weak and less principled, especially after the way Trump went after him in the primary. And also after his strong stand at the convention.
He’ll also look bad for getting on the Trump train. It’s one thing to vote for the man over the disaster that will be Hillary. But to endorse someone who is on many counts a liberal buffoon, well I think that’s going to come back to bite him, especially if Trump wins and then shows his buffoonery to the whole world.
As I said, I’m still holding out hope. But I’m certainly less confident that I was earlier.
