Support for Obamacare falls to an all time low

Still not low enough, but it’s heading in the right direction:

THE HILL – Support for the Affordable Care Act has dropped five points in a month to a record low, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Monday.

The poll finds that just 35 percent of the public supports the law, compared to 40 percent in late November.

The drop in support indicated in the poll could be particularly troubling to the Obama administration because almost all of it came from women, whose opposition rose from 54 to 60 percent in a month. The administration has tried to highlight advantages for women, such as free preventative care that covers mammograms.

My hope is if support for the law continues to drop, even after Democrats lose the Senate in 2014, then enough of the remaining Democrats will work with Republicans to repeal the law, even overriding a presidential veto. This is why what Ted Cruz was doing was so important. Republicans need to build a movement among the American people to repeal Obamacare and put forth reforms that will make healthcare better and cheaper. The law itself is going a long way in doing that, but Republicans must convince the American people that their ideas are profoundly better and then I believe Democrats will fall in line to override a veto. But support for Obamacare needs to go down much more.
