Ted Cruz played several past Hagel interviews where he was asked anti-Israel and anti-America questions by callers and he agreed with them all – and Cruz blasted him for it.

    What a train wreck!
    It just keeps coming.
So, if Hagel bombs out, ( I am still concerned he may make it )
Who will Obama trot out ( The one he really wants? ) next? Bill Ayers?

    • Nukeman60

My guess is yes, Hagel will make it and yes, Obama will eventually haul out Bill Ayers and Van Jones just to see if he can get away with it. He’s that arrogant.

    • Rshill7

      Beelzebub.

      • Cindy09

        Abbadon?

    • sjmom

If Obama was smart which he is not he’d pick a pro Israel Dem. They’re out there.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MJGP4QXZ5PRW2MFA5E25CV2WNU rosalie

Why would he pick a pro Israel Dem when he’s not pro Israel? Hagel is his choice because he feels the same way O feels about Israel. I think he picked Hagel because he’s not pro Israel and he’s a Republican.

        • sjmom

Remember I said IF he was smart which he is not. I know why he picked Hagel but if Obama wants someone confirmed he’d look elsewhere.

      • http://politicalknow.blogspot.com/ SheerPolitics

It’s not about being smart–it’s about tearing this country down. He HATES this country. Which is why he picks friends like Bill Ayers. People like that want to bring us down to 3rd world country’s level. They hate our greatness.

      • PatrickHenrysBody

        Chuck Schumer? Oops. LOL!!!

    • las1

Train wreck is the only way to describe it. But this whole political regime of Obama into “train wrecking” the economy and the culture, indeed the nation and there is no stopping him… not yet anyway.

But after this grilling, if any Republicans DARE approve Hagel like they did Secretariat Kerry then the only result should be pitchforks and pruning hooks marching on the Capitol.

    • http://www.facebook.com/john.benshoof.7 John Benshoof

      Bill Mahr….

    • bobemakk

God forbid, but the self proclaimed Messiah is also doing anything he wants and making most all the republicans cave in except for Inhofe, Paul and Cruz. Are there anymore that have the stones to disagree with Obama???

    • AtlEsquire1973

I must say this new senator Ted Cruz is a rock star. Former prosecutor and attorney general of TX, and it appears he was a damn good one. Cruz-control!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZVCGRG62NAGQXJ6ZNE4JCTVVTU Ray

I wish they would do this to all his nominees.

SLAM DUNK!!!!!! I only pray that it actually matters, in the grand-scheme of things…

    • Orangeone

There are lots of DEM Senate seats up in 2014 and this can be used to slaughter them

      • LadyMacKeltar

Yes, yes, yes!! Lets get it done!

        • Orangeone

4 Dems on this committee alone! Carl Levin (MI), Mark Udall (CO), Jeanne Shaheen (NH) and Kay Hagan (NC) I’ll tweet to the Tea Party too!

          • LadyMacKeltar

Kay Hagan is from my state. Ugh! She’s on my radar and whatever I have to do, God willing, she’ll be gone.

            • Orangeone

Do you have a Tea Party group in your state? We don’t but I’m tweeting them asking for one!

              • LadyMacKeltar

I follow NC Tea Party Patriots and Freedom Connector.

                • Orangeone

                  Perfect!

      • JohnCraven

Yes, it can be used to slaughter them provided we have TEA Party conservatives like Ted Cruz running against the Democrats and not the spineless moderates that the Ruling Elites amongst the Big Whigs of the GOP always want to stick us with or, if they can’t stick us with a “moderate” they do everything they can to undermine the
true conservatives in Congress such as they tried to do to Michele Bachmann and what looks like what they did to Col. Alan West.

    • Watchman74

Hoping so but more than likely it’s a dog and pony show.

  • marketcomp

    Just daming!

  • LadyMacKeltar

Kudos Senator Cruz! Your confirmation grilling was right on the spot.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AHLD4QSXAITWNB5YZRYPFRUXEE Steve D

I can see right now that Ted Cruz is gonna give Obama fits for the next 4 years. This is gonna be fun!

    • Orangeone

Very thankful Cruz is on the right committees! If it were Boehner’s choice,,,,well enough said.

      • LadyMacKeltar

Know what you mean. Boehner’s choice for Cruz would be “Horticulture” and “Live Stock, Rural Development”…

  • Orangeone

Home run Senator Cruz, home run!

Ted Cruz is like a Terminator. “He doesn’t feel Pity or Remorse or Fear and He Absolutely Will Not Stop!”

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/OQ4JDCJMDJF4BCE2OCFIZEDUAM J.C.D.

you should have seen him in the debates for the Republican Nomination and the general election. Ted Cruz is THE terminator :)

  • c4pfan

In other words, he’s a Democrat.

    • Guest

Who is a democrat, Hagel? Because he is not owned by the Israel lobby? Because he tells it like it is sometimes instead of speaking with approved party propaganda? No, Hagel is a real conservative, not a Trotskyist-cum-neocon owned by AIPAC or one of their congressional shills like the one grilling him in this video. I’m sorry, is Hagel nominated for Secretary of Defense of the USA or Secretary of Defense of Israel? Because they are most definitely not the same thing.

It is neither a liberal nor conservative position, but merely a rational and patriotic one, to say without equivocation that Israel and it’s influence on American foreign policy is one of the Americas biggest liabilities.

Consider the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the USA, the resulting catastrophic loss of American lives, erosion of civil liberties, and tax dollars lost in the ‘War on Terror’. None of it would have happened if not for the USA choosing a side in a thousand-year-old religious-ethnic conflict among foreign desert peoples. Neither side has anything to do with the USA’s founding peoples or heritage.

Strategically, in a post-cold-war world, Israel is insignificant to the United States. They have never committed troops to fight alongside the US in any conflict. That might be a good thing, since the inflated myth of the IDF’s combat prowess was forever ended in their floundering offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2006.

Israel is of use as an intelligence source, of course, but only against enemies that the USA has because of major US financial and military aid to Israel. It is circular logic to suggest we need to be allied with them to combat enemies that we only have because we are allied with Israel.

It is a sad testament to the gullibility and group-think of too many Americans in general that so many would-be conservatives have been duped by the corporate media hacks on both side of the party lines into conflating Israeli interests with American interests, and somehow thinking the USA actually benefits from all the toxic baggage that has come along with our nation’s unwarranted and unjustifiable ‘special relationship’ with Israel.

The USA needs to cut the umbilical cord to Israel (they should be able to fend for themselves if they are the ‘chosen tribe’ after all), get out of mideast politics and disengage from that region economically, ceasing all oil importation from Islamic countries and ramping up domestic exploration and development to the utmost. Maybe then we will have a chance at salvaging what is left of the American Republic, and a shot at preserving an American future for our children.

  • sjmom

Thanks Scoop for the quick posting. :)

Just like his fearful leader; badmouthing the US to foreigners. I don’t see any way Hagel can be confirmed and if he was smart he’d withdraw his name.

    • sDee

I’ve a feeling that the donkeys just threw the elephants a bone to chew on and will let him sink. If the political class wanted Hagel in, McCain and Graham would be throwing all their fast balls and curves just outside the strike zone, as is their usual role.

      • sjmom

I agree but I also think Obama thought everyone would bow to his wishes as usual.

      • TexasPGRRider

        Strong Point sDee, Strong Point….

  • 1tootall

They are going to go after Cruz the way they’ve gone after Bachmann and West. Just wait and see.

    • TexasPGRRider

They`ll have their hands full if they try to “railroad” Cruz like they did Lt. Col. West in Florida…Lots of Liberty loving, Freedom fighting, Patriots in this part of the world !!!!

    • mike morrison

I’m afraid you’re right…he’d better keep his nose clean or he’ll find himself the object of a sexcapades gotcha piece. He’s my Senator and I’m cautiously optimistic about his future, but I’ve got such a short fuse over character issues these days, I’m holding my cards close to the vest until he proves himself. You can bet the more he stirs the GOP up, the more they’ll go after him just like Palin. They’ll try to marginalize him as fast as they can or set him up to ruin his career. I hope you’re listening Sen. Cruz!

    • gajaw999

Yes, they will try to take down Cruz, but it looks like he can hold his own. Very smart questioning, and good about not getting sidetracked. Acted like a prosecutor should!

      • 1tootall

I agree. On the other hand, West was no pushover. They gerrymandered him out…”They” being the GOP!!! I know that would be a different story in the Senate. But the GOP is being embarrassed and humiliated daily by these guys. How long will that last, do you think???

      • punsalot

Cruz is a senator, so he can’t be gerrymandered out of his office like West was.

  • 1tootall

Hagel comes across as a bona fide slob. Pure and simple.

  • Conservative_Hippie

The thing I like about Cruz is he engages others in a way that comes across as respectful and yet gets to the bottom line. I’m really liking this fellow!

    • LadyMacKeltar

Respect, something we don’t get to see anymore.

    • aposematic

      I picked that up too…good observation Conservative_Hippie.

    • factsobill

After watching Ted do what needs being done, I am smiling !!! Now to to if Lindsay Graham can toe the line!

      • Orangeone

Lindsay Graham also did a nice job!

        • Conservative_Hippie

Graham is hard to nail down at times. Sometimes he says things I agree with and other times he’s RINO-like.

          • Orangeone

I agree! Being part of the Gang of 8 and ignoring our immigration laws and American citizens and then voting for Kerry makes me puke. But he did do a great job on Hagel. Wonder if he’ll Yea or Nay

    • sjmom

I pray Ted doesn’t change because right now he’s a keeper.

    • Orangeone

This is why he was so popular during the campaign. Eloquent, knowledgeable, Constitutional, and gets the job done!

      • Conservative_Hippie

        Agreed!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ray-Zacek/1083332830 Ray Zacek

Cruz is the anti-Franken in the Senate. The Texas antithesis of the buffoon from Minnesota.

  • http://navalwarfare.blogspot.com/ Libertyship46

The International Criminal Court would be a HUGE problem for us, if anybody is stupid enough to join it. Under that court, any American soldier could be accused or prosecuted for war crimes, no matter how bogus the charge. Worse, it would be putting AMERICAN citizens under some wierd international law, and NOT American law. We would, in effect, be giving up our sovereignty, and that will not stand. Nor should it. If Hagel remains silent on this issue, that means he supports it, or at the very least is not going to fight it, regardless of the effect it has on our troops overseas. That is NOT the position an American Secretary of Defense should be taking AT ALL.

  • http://twitter.com/ozziecastillo Stewie

After hearing this, I can’t believe the press isn’t running wild questioning Obama is nominating someone (to this particular position) who is so willing to dump on his own country to the enemies of the country.

    • kathleen kennedy

you forget that the msm is totally in the tank for Obama… that’s why most people in this country don’t know what’s going on…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQI5D66OXO7X2FE4NVCZC7BAMA Joe

    I OBJECT TO THIS HEARING!

    This is too easy

Hagel is an easy “mark” – He might as well wear a “stoopid” sign

My goodness – Can’t ZERO do better than this jerk?

    • aposematic

Does make one wonder if Hagel was an Obuma sacrifical useful target so the others could skate as Kerry did. Hagel does claim to be an R so not a lot of D damage there.

  • aposematic

Keep this up Senator Cruz and you soon will be #1 on my list for 2016 POTUS.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

    Excellent!

  • Marky_D

Good god, I’m a bit late getting in on this story but am I understanding this right? Is Obama putting your equivalent of the UK’s George Galloway in charge of your military?

    • sDee

ummmm -eerrrr…pretty much, ‘cept the Republicans are just to damn stupid to throw Hagel out of their party.

  • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

Hagel is sickening to me. SO glad for Cruz to bring this up, but too bad this puss bucket will pass anyway though.

    • TexasPGRRider

      “puss bucket”???….Mercy….

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

I’m trying to be polite ;-)

    • sjmom

Not so sure about that. As I said Hagel would be smart to withdraw his name, especially after the barrage he received today.

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

I wouldn’t mind that at all!

  • notsofastthere

Hagel doesn’t have a leg to stand on and his deodoernt failed. That’s why he will probably be confirmed. Obama needs more like him to finish off America.

  • rsfan1

Ted Cruz is really good. Wow.

  • Charm4sure

That is a slice of heaven! Cruz is a man who comes prepared. He does his homework and he goes for it. What a great warrior! Can we clone him?

    • nibblesyble

      Amen!

    • LadyMacKeltar

When you have a copy of Senator Cruz’s DNA, I would like 2 clones for my state of NC, please. :D

  • Joe W.

Cruz & Cornyn….MY 2 Texas Senators were 2 out of 3 votes against the traitor John “Swiftie” Kerry….Proud to be a Texan!!!! Great job, Sen. Cruz…Welcome to D.C.!!!!!

    • Orangeone

And didn’t your OK neighbor cast the third no vote?

      • Joe W.

        I believe so….:-)

            • Orangeone

              • http://twitter.com/RepDAnder DJAnders

Franken is a Jew in name only. If we could only find a Cruz in MN among our conservatives.

                • Orangeone

That’s why I had “claims to be Jewish”. I guess Ben Shapiro has coined the term JINO.

Some of us are working on a TEA Party candidate in MN. Are you also in MN???? If so, are you on Twitter?

Hagel couldn’t even qualify to be the manager at my local KMart. Obama was warned. He didn’t listen. Now Hagel is here making a fool of himself.

    • LadyMacKeltar

Not according to CBSnews.com “Amid stubborn resistance from Senate Republicans, former Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., launched a strong defense of both his values and his record during his defense secretary confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee today…”

      Nothing like unbiased reporting, right??

        Initiate head-in-toilet; GO!!

the mushyness of anything Obama-related and the media love affair is nuasiating! :P

    • nibblesyble

      ahahahaha..thanks for the laugh!

    • Orangeone

Hagel couldn’t qualify to be the manager at your local Kmart because he couldn’t pass the pre-employment background check and drug screening :)

    • HarrietHT2

      And by extension, the president.

  • bjohnson55

It would be an absolute travisty if a single person voted for this boob after this display of pure stupidity. I am embarrassed as a citizen of the United States of America to have even had this idiot selected by our President as the nominee for the the Secretary of Defense job.

  • armyvet10

So far all of the questioning has been spewed with waaaaaaaaaaayyyyy to much respect! Can’t the Senators ask to treat this jacka$$ as a dip stick? I mean the questioning should be soooo much more demeaning and hurtful.

Senator Hagel; wouldn’t you agree that your lips have been on the end of a hose contected to a running vehicle for so long that your brain has been reduced to mush?

Senator Hagel; since you are having soooo much difficulty in remembering the context of what you say, is it safe sir to assume you no longer have the ability to wipe your own arse?

Senator Hagel; exactly what is it sir that you believe? Would you be willing to put that in writing, as our fore fathers did when they signed the Declaration of Independence, and die in its service like so many veterans have in the past and still are today?

Senator Hagel; since you wish to be the next SOD, would you be willing to stand arm in arm with those same soldiers you will deploy in harm’s way after making these vile statements?

Oh forget it Mr. Hagel, you are not worthy of being called a Senator or Secretary of Defense.

    • Orangeone

I’d give you one trillion likes if I could!

      • armyvet10

Thanks Orangeone, hope your day is going well.

senator cruz is a very clear and rational thinker – a rarity in DC

  • michaelgingerly

I learned today that Duke Nukem, my personal preference for Defense, was not even given consideration.

  • TexasPGRRider

Ted Cruz….Let`s see now….If the Good Lord`s willin`, he`ll hook up with like minded rookies in the House and not restrict himself to the affairs of the Senate. Thinkin` “outside the box” is required to be most effective with the opportunity to confront the corruption and wayward course proffered by B.O. and his co-conspiritors….

    • Orangeone

Or use it to wrap around the top of Hagel’s head

  • Sober_Thinking

    Gotta love Ted Cruz.

    Well done Sir.

Hagel isn’t making a very good case here at all. Bobbing and weaving like a true Democrat.

  • 57thunderbird

I just Hope Mr. Cruz doesn’t become another Rand Paul.Great job sir!

    • tsturbo

Exactly right. Notice how the media is playing up Rand Paul? If the corrupt media cabal is supporting anything, then you know it’s bad for America. Every time I see Cruz, he gets better and better. I pray he is the real deal, because Lord knows we need a real leader right now!

    • Orangeone

There’s a huge difference between the Conservative Cruz and the Libertarian Paul. Plus Sen Cruz has argued on behalf of our Constitution before the SCOTUS and won!

  • Conniption Fitz

Cruz attended high school at Faith West Academy in Katy, Texas,[11] and then graduated from Second Baptist High School in Houston.

Cruz earned his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He was an editor of the Harvard Law Review, an executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy.

Bet his school records and grades are available on request.

    • nibblesyble

Thanks Conn, loved all the facts.

      Good morning!

You mean to say that Sen Ted Cruz has a better professional record , a verifiable record, than the POS???
      Well I never!

The dem propaganda machine will find something by the weekend to Palinise him with, just you wait.

      • Orangeone

And from the same Harvard! The difference is that Sen Cruz is a Christian Conservative not an AA failure.

    TED CRUZ 2016

  • cabensg

    Cruz has absolutely annihilated Hagel.

If only that was Obama there in that seat.

    • nibblesyble

Sigh, what a fabulous dream come true that would be!

  • Army_Pilot1967

Wow, Hagel is a GREAT candidate for SecDef (Sarc). How did obama’s team come up with Hagel’s name as a nominee for SecDef????? He seems incapable of representing himself, much less the United States. He comes across as anti-Israel, anti-US…not my idea as the ideal SecDef.

Note: I thought it interesting that some of Hagel’s comments were on Al Gore’s network of choice, Al-Jeezra!!!!!!!

    • Orangeone

The “R” after Hagel’s name so he can continue to blame Repubs and BOOOOSH

  • http://www.facebook.com/paul.christian.942 librtifirst

So Hagel disagreed with Bush on Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan? So Hagel disagrees with Obama about Libya, Syria, Mali, Yemen, etc. I guess that I agree with Hagel. What do you call a country that supports Al Qaeda in overthrowing governments, then puts radical Islamists in power? What do you call a country who strikes targets with drones not even knowing who is in the buildings they bomb? What do you call a country who’s military occupies a country that never attacked them, disarming the people while performing house to house raids for years on end? What do you call a country who seems to only overthrow governments who don’t give in to the World Bank, puts Islamists in power who give into the world bank, and sells out their resources to wester oil interests?

It may not be the American people who sanction all of this, but it is our politicians who do it all. We supposedly elect these people, so they ultimately represent us.

People need to realize that our government uses our resources, including our military, to bulley people around the world. But even more important, our government bullies us. Homeland security was not created to stop foreign terrorists, it was created to cause the American people to be under the thumb of the federal government, and give them the power to treat us like literal slaves.

Yes, our government is a freaking bully, and they do the same crap around the world. “Bully of the World”. Not so far off.

Hagel is just another establishment shill doing what he has to for political progression.

  • http://black-avenger-1.livejournal.com/profile VirusX

Hagel is a punk. He’s got a lot of crap to talk, but suddenly gets all tongue tied when he’s called out on his crap. “Context”, he asks for? HE WAS THERE, AND IT DRIBBLED OUT OF HIS OWN MOUTH. He knows the “context” damned well.

I hope Cruz doesn’t disgrace himself by devolving into a Rubio.

  • odin147

Both Sen. Mike Lee and Sen. Ted Cruz are two top notch conservatives. Need more of them if this country has any chance.

  • DebbyX

  • opinionatedhermit

    Thank you, Brother Cruz.

  • dontdrinkthecoolaid

    I don’t trust him.

    • HarrietHT2

Up until today I’d heard nothing about Cruz that even hinted we should keep our guard up about him. And then I visited vdare, which I do daily, and read this article:

“National Review Institute Summit: Conservatism Inc. Stunned—But Not Stunned Enough To Consider Patriotic Immigration Reform

By James Kirkpatrick on January 31, 2013 at 11:55pm,” here:
      http://www.vdare.com/articles/national-review-institute-summit-conservatism-inc-stunned-but-not-stunned-enough-to-conside

American patriots are going to have to excel at, no, surpass, hawk-like hunting skills if we have any hope whatsoever of defeating the Republican establishment which has formed a devil’s bargain with liberals and leftists to undermine our liberty and to make of us subservient to their increasingly powerful oligarchy.

      • Garry

Read the Vdare piece… Looks like a recycled Huffington Post site. I’m no fan of National Review, or especially Bill Krystol, but common. Thanks for a waste of time, I thought from your description, it was a conservative article.

  • PatrickHenrysBody

Forget Rubio, forget Paul, and God sakes no Chris Christie! I say draft Ted Cruz for the GOP nomination for president in 2016!

Draft and forget about all of the stupid debates which give the liberals just fodder to yap about.

Sorry guys. We are on our way out. We have open Antisemites and AntiAmericans in the most powerful positions in America. Our darling Republicans have compromised on our principles for a century. Slowly and patiently the liberal progressives have gotten everything they want, because our guys have no balls. No offense ladies.

Senator Ted Cruz was absolutely terrific and bold in his questioning of former senator Haegel. AND Senator Cruz is a TEA Party Conservative the kind we need many more of in Washington.

Sen. Cruz will hopefully make Marco step up his game. I am afraid Marco may have already been corrupted. Time will tell us if Marco is getting duped (after we review the language of the immigration bill). Sen. Cruz is the real deal though!

Cruz (and others) very impressive at putting clear evidence and statements of Hagel under scrutiny. Hagel’s attempts (and his supporters) to dismiss them as not representative of his views seem now quite inaccurate. HE may still get the votes, but Dems credibility would be badly damaged with his confirmation. From the start, the Obama defense against perceived “daylight” between Israel and US is refuted by his nomination, and there is little doubt this testimony makes that claim entirely false and purposely deceptive. Add this to a growing list of Obama’s rhetoric of centrism and moderate, mainstream policies, refuted by the more obvious realities. His agenda is far left of American people, and Obama knows his agenda will not be supported if presented
honestly. Media on board with the Dem party, so this basic dishonesty continues unabashedly by the administration.

If Senator Cruz could be on the committee when Obama starts naming Supreme Court Judges, he would tear them apart rather than softball cross examing questions.

Ted Cruz is destined for greater things. I’d love to see him in a debate with “The One”

Ted Cruz is seriously awe inspiring. Just when I’m ready to give up on politics I see a guy like this-

    Well Done Senator!

I’m sorry, but is Hagel nominated for Secretary of Defense of the USA….or Secretary of Defense of Israel? Because they are most definitely not the same thing. In terms of real national security interests , they are very much at odds, in fact.

It is neither a liberal nor conservative position, but merely a rational and realistic one, to say without equivocation that Israel and it’s influence on American foreign policy is one of Americas biggest liabilities.

Consider the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the USA, the resulting catastrophic loss of American lives, the erosion of civil liberties that has resulted, and the tax dollars lost in the ‘War on Terror’. None of it would have happened if not for the USA choosing a side in a thousand-year-old religious-ethnic conflict among foreign desert peoples. Neither side in that conflict has anything to do with the USA’s founding peoples or heritage.

It is a sad testament to the gullibility and group-think of too many Americans in general that so many would-be conservatives have been duped by the Jewish-owned corporate media hacks on both side of the party lines into conflating Israeli security interests with American security interests, and brainwashed into thinking the USA actually benefits from all the toxic baggage that has come along with our nation’s unwarranted and unjustifiable ‘special relationship’ with Israel.

The USA needs to cut the umbilical cord to Israel, get out of mideast politics and disengage from that region economically, ceasing all oil importation from Islamic countries and ramping up domestic exploration and development to the utmost. Maybe then we will have a chance at salvaging what is left of the American Republic, and a shot at preserving an American future for our children.
