This is a great interview by Ted Cruz today where he first address the ‘silly season’ around his birth certificate but then moves on to discuss defunding Obamacare. Candy Crowley tells Cruz that Obama will never sign a bill that defunds Obamacare, but Cruz says that while she may be convinced of that, he’s not.

MARK LEVIN: It’s time to call it BoehnerCare because he wont support vote to defund ObamaCare
    August 22nd, 2013
Boehner told the House Republican membership in a telephone meeting a short while ago that the Republican leadership will NOT pursue defunding Obamacare, that they will only pursue saving from the sequestration. Levin responded to this news by saying we need to change the name of Obamacare to Beohner care and start repeating it over and over.

As long as RINOS in the Senate, House and Judiciary side with the Democrats with precious vote … the agenda of the Islamic appeaser/Marxist in the White House is furthered.  What happened to the fear of recall?  Maybe if a Conservative party with vetted candidates emerges as the opposition … the Republic stands a chance.

Supreme Court upholds individual mandate, ObamaCare survives
    Published June 28, 2012
The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld nearly all of President Obama’s health care overhaul, in a landmark ruling that will have sweeping consequences for the economy, the election and America’s health care system.
In a 5-4 decision, the court ruled as constitutional the so-called individual mandate requiring most Americans to obtain health insurance starting in 2014. ….
Chief Justice John Roberts, who was appointed during a Republican administration, joined the four left-leaning justices on the bench in crafting the majority decision.

“Candy Crowley tells Cruz that Obama will never sign a bill that defunds Obamacare, but Cruz says that while she may be convinced of that, he’s not.”
Damn…I bet he is one hell of a chess player.  I like people who know how to play a good game of chess – call Obama’s bluff, Congress.  If the bill is passed and Obama doesn’t sign it, shutdown is Obama’s fault. Take a lesson from a real patriot, Boehner.   Start acting like the Speaker of the House instead of sounding like an Obama blowhole.

  • nhLevinitized

Oh jeez, I wish I coulda heard what Howard Dean had to say about Cruz’s comments.
But we already know the answers, don’t we?

My husbands surgery cost $50,000.00 next year I believe it will cost $100,000.00.  Does anyone think that Obamacare is going to solve the high cost of healthcare or make it worse?
Actually after Obamacare fully takes effect you will be LUCKY if you get the operation you need in the first place!!

  • kong1967

I loved and agreed with everything he said except…..he’s not convinced that Obama would not vote to defund Obamacare.  Yeah, that’s a pipe dream.
That said, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t defund it.  I have progressed more towards supporting the defuding.  Ted Cruz is a very eloquent man, and he is very convincing in everything he says to people.  If he leads the effort to inform the public that it’s Obama shutting down government we can actually pull this off.  But he must win that battle.  If Obama gets the credit from the public that he will have deserved, it very well could push conservatives to victory in 2014.  Obama will still not defund the bill, but we can follow up Senate gains with a Presidential win in 2016 and finally go about repealing the bill.
If we lose the battle and we get blamed for our military not getting paid, we’ll be up sh** creek witihout a paddle.  That would ride right into the elections next year, and we will lose seats that we direly need to repeal the bill.  With Ted Cruz leading the way, I think we can win that battle.

  • Conservator1

kong1967 I watched this interview yesterday live, but I had to watch it again. He handled Candy Crowley’s lefty questions with ease; something Mitt had problems with. If Cruz leads the GOP message on Obamacare, Republicans in the House must pass a ‘Continuing Resolution’ (CR) that funds every part of government except Obamacare and send it to the Senate.
At that Point, Senators Cruz, Lee and Paul will lead the fight against the establishment of both parties. As Cruz correctly points out, once the House passes the CR then it’s up to Senate Democrats, RINOs and Obama must decide if they are willing to SHUT DOWN the GOVERNMENT over Obamacare – a bill that a majority of Americans oppose.
I trust Cruz’s media savvy and with Lee and Paul, the lefty MSM will cover their opposition and I firmly believe Americans will support them over the progressive and RINO machine running Washington.
Of course kong, I can always be wrong :)

  • notebene

Crowley the crone is a pathetic propagandist for the Odumbo camp.  Cruz repeatedly had to keep the crone on topic and it was her interview!  Making the poor working class poorer and more dependent, so Shillary can be elected is now the new media focus, not helping the American people!  Cruz handled the crone with grace and I pray he succeeds in stopping this monstrousity! Crowley, nobody gives a rat’s behind about psychologically warped homosexuals therapy!  What a baited rabbit trail that question is!  Fat slob Christy won’t be getting votes from any conservative and it will not be because of homosexuality, but because Christy is a RHINO and conservatives have zero interest in supporting more failure liberal crap!  Our economy is tanking and that badly written Odumbocare  law will make those already hurting, worse off and bring more to the welfare rolls.  Socialism is a failure and economically unsustainable!

“Yeah but that doesn’t help that 6.2 million (who don’t have healthcare in Texas)”. Crowley
LOL! Perhaps you are hard of hearing. I SAID ObamaCare is DRIVING UP health costs and killing jobs! Did I stutter?

  • stage9

“Do you think it’s right that so many people in this country cannot afford healthcare?” Crowley
What kind of question is that? I think it’s the nature of LIFE! So many people in this country can’t afford a million dollar mansion or a Ferrari either, but it’s not a matter of “is it right”; it’s a matter of circumstance.
If you’re asking, should there be a means of acquiring health insurance that isn’t so costly, then PERHAPS. But nothing comes without a cost. In order to receive something, you must GIVE something. That’s life. There are no free lunches, someone has to pay.

Chris Christie has outlawed therapy that is designed to turn gay people straight.”
That’s NOT what he’s done. He’s outlawed therapy that is designed to help homosexuals receive therapy and counseling that is meant to help them deal with the feelings of unwanted ssa.
My question is this to Crowley: Do you feel it is appropriate to weaken the very foundational structure of human civilization, the family, by imposing immoral laws that give less than 1.7% of the population the legal authority to marry, seeing as how their goal, based on their own admission, is to destroy the institution of marriage?
Further, is it appropriate that the news media is using leftist propaganda to paint the picture of homosexuality as a virtuous lifestyle when social science from around the world has conclusively shown that it is rife with mental illness, high rates of suicidality, domestic abuse, substance abuse and disease and promiscuity? Is there good moral reason to give this perverse lifestyle such prominence in our society? Does this in any way benefit society and its posterity or is your goal to weaken the moral fabric of society and that’s why you so vociferously support it?
I mean, since we’re asking loaded questions and all…

Sen. Ted Cruz: ‘Grassroots Tsunami’ Needed to Defund ObamacareAugust 26, 2013
We do not have the votes right now” to defund Obamacare, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told CNN’s “State of the Union with Candy Crowley” on Sunday. He said the effort will be successful only if the grassroots gets behind it.
“We need 41 Republicans in the Senate or we need 218 Republicans in the House,” Cruz said, speaking of next month’s battle over a continuing resolution to keep the government running.
“And I’m convinced there’s a new paradigm in politics that actually has Washington very uncomfortable. It has politicians in both parties very uncomfortable. And that new paradigm is the rise of the grassroots, the ability of grassroots activists to demand of their elected officials they do the right thing.
“And I believe if we see a grassroots tsunami, that is going to cause Republicans and Democrats to listen to the people.”
“But it’s going to take a tsunami,” Crowley said.
“It is going to take a tsunami, and I’m going to do everything I can to encourage that tsunami,” Cruz replied.

    A DEMOCRAT PLANT?  A CONSERVATIVE SELL-OUT?
    MARCO RUBIO, 2009
“I am strongly against amnesty. The most important thing we need to do is enforce our existing laws. We have existing immigration laws that are not being adequately enforced. Nothing will make it harder to enforce the existing laws, if you reward people who broke them. It demoralizes people who are going through the legal process, its a very clear signal of why go through the legal process, if you can accomplish the same thing if you go through the illegal process. And number two, if demoralizes the people enforcing the laws. I am not, and I will never support any effort to grant blanket legalization/amnesty to folks who have entered, stayed in this country illegally.”

Rubio-Obama immigration plan? Senator’s proposal looks like White House policy
    Posted on Wednesday, 01.16.13
Not only do Rubio and Obama’s plans create a similar type of amnesty for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants, the two politicians have used similar language.
Here’s Obama unveiling his plan in May 2011, relatively little-reported at the time:
“Those who are here illegally, they have a responsibility as well. So they broke the law, and that means they’ve got to pay their taxes, they’ve got to pay a fine, they’ve got to learn English. And they’ve got to undergo background checks and a lengthy process before they get in line for legalization. That’s not too much to ask.”
Here’s Rubio in the Wall Street Journal on the undocumented:
“They would have to come forward. They would have to undergo a background check…They would have to pay a fine, pay back taxes, maybe even do community service. They would have to prove they’ve been here for an extended period of time. They understand some English and are assimilated. Then most of them would get legal status and be allowed to stay in this country.”

  • kong1967

Conservator1  That’s just it, it’s a crap shoot.  Whatever strategy we use it has to garner public support or we are done.  People are twisting it into “so you’re going to accept Obamacare because you’re afraid we’ll get blamed”, but that’s not it.   We must have public support in order to pick up seats next election in the Senate.  If we lose seats, we are even further away from repealing this bill.
I’m still conflicted in a big way, but I really really really love Ted Cruz.  Just listening to him talk helps me support this because he can really deliver a message.  If anyone can win public support after Obama shuts down government, it will be Ted Cruz.  He’s amazing.

  • kong1967

BetseyRoss  Ain’t that the truth!  Cruz is the only one pulling my support towards this.

  • DebbyX

I’m sure Ted Cruz is aware of what the term “mulling” means Candy Land!

  • standbesideherUSA

I wonder.  Does Candy do her own hair or does she actually pay someone?  (….I’m not a Candy-fan)

  • applepie101

I’m convinced that even if Obama were about to sign the bill to defund Obamacare, Boehner and his rinos would rush in to stop him.

  • applepie101

    Ba-da boom!

  • Conservator1

kong1967 You’re correct, it’s a strategy that can backfire. And it’s the argument made by establishment members of the GOP. They are frightened by the thought of being blamed by the left MSM for shutting down the government as was the case with Gingrich.
However while Newt suffered the price of his leadership position, America won with 4 straight balance budgets and Clinton’s announcement that the era of big government is over.
kong, being afraid is never a winning strategy and if the current GOP is scared about the MSM blaming them, then we shouldn’t support them as conservatives. After all, when doesn’t the media blame the GOP for everything wrong in America?
But Senators Cruz, Lee and Paul aren’t threatening to shut down the government. Their message to the House is pass a  ‘Continuing Resolution’ (CR) that funds every part of government except Obamacare.
That’s an enlighten political strategy that would force Democrats with 2 choices – vote on the House’s CR and add back the funds to Obamacare and send it to the conference committee for arbitration or to table the CR and shut down the government.
If we follow the the lead of the GOP establishment to play it safe, who cares if a the GOP wins back the Senate with RINOs as their leadership?

  • kong1967

Conservator1  Well, as I said, it’s not about being afraid.  It’s about strategy.  In this case we don’t have a plan beyond defunding the bill and what happens after they shut down government.  How long can we make the “continuing resolution”?
I don’t see any way this gets through the Senate and Obama, and government will resume.  So, in my eyes, the only good that can come of it is that public anger will go to Obama for shutting down government unnecessarily.  That could translate into more seats in the Senate next year.  It could also go the other way.
But, since there is no other plan other than to play it safe, we don’t have much of a choice.

  • PicklePlants

DebbyX LOL – but thanks for clearing up yet ANOTHER point you worthless reporter hack
