Ted Cruz Super PAC to make major radio ad onslaught

If you listen to Rush Limbaugh or any of the major talk radio shows, you will begin hearing Ted Cruz ads soon. His major Super PAC is to begin running 60 second ads on both conservative and Christian radio shows in an attempt to get his poll numbers up. Let’s hope it works:

POLITICO – Sen. Ted Cruz’s super PAC is making its first major ad buy of the 2016 campaign, launching a $1 million national campaign on Christian and conservative talk radio to run through the end of the year, POLITICO has learned.

The initial 60-second ad will begin running on Monday. It touts Cruz as a candidate who will fight “against the Washington cartel” – one of the campaign’s signature lines – and will air on influential talk radio shows, including those hosted by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Hugh Hewitt.

The ad buy represents the first from the constellation of four pro-Cruz super PACs that raised a stunning nearly $38 million in the first half of 2015. Only Jeb Bush’s Right to Rise super PAC, with its $100 million-plus haul, brought in more.

Kellyanne Conway, the Republican strategist who serves as president of Keep the Promise I, said the ad should reach 28 million unique listeners every two weeks. She said the group also planned to expand with an Iowa-specific radio buy in the coming weeks. The first radio spot glides through Cruz’s full biography, from his father’s immigration story from Cuba, where he “was jailed fighting for the freedom of his fellow countrymen,” to Cruz’s work in Texas as solicitor general to his battles in the U.S. Senate.
