On tonight’s Hardball With Chris Matthews, Chris and his guest Wayne Slater of the Dallas Morning News made some genius observations that will make it clear why Chris Matthews is so popular and smart and leg thrilling.
Running against the President? The incumbent President? In a mid-term election? SWEET JUMPING REAGAN THIS SHALL NOT STAND!!!
Chris, or Bubbles as I call him for no particular reason, is absolutely shocked, SHOCKED, by the news that the opposition party would run against the record of the incumbent President. This, as you probably do not know, is absolutely unprecedented. UnPRESIDENTed I say!!
But this cranium cracker was not the only brain pleaser of the episode. No, an even more brilliant observation was yet to come. Are you ready? ARE YOU BREATHLESS?? Well take a breath for Pete’s sake. He doesn’t just say he’s like Joe McCarthy. No, expert political analyst and Very Serious Person Chris Matthews takes the extra step of showing a picture of Joe McCarthy next to a picture of Ted Cruz. Because proof!
And then Slater chimes in that (chuckle, chuckle, knowing grin) Ted Cruz does not like being compared to Joe McCarthy. (smirk, shart).
He? Doesn’t like? Being compared? To? Joe McCarthy? This changes everything.
