The Trump campaign is working hard to fight off attacks that focus on Trump’s past deep dive into the Obama birtherism scandal.
So what Trump surrogates and the Trump campaign is arguing is that Trump is no longer a birther, that he’s now a full-on believer in Obama being born in the US:

Just a little over a year ago, after Trump had announced his candidacy for president, this is what he told Anderson Cooper:
In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper that aired Thursday night, the Republican presidential candidate said he was not that interested in talking about the issue, compared to other ones.
“Honestly, I don’t want to get into it,” Trump said.
Asked whether he thought Obama was born in the U.S., Trump responded: “I don’t know. I really don’t know. I don’t know why he wouldn’t release his records.”
I honestly don’t believe Trump has had a change of heart on this. It’s his campaign trying to protect him from attacks that could hurt him at time when he is closing the gap on Hillary.
