President Trump this morning declared that DACA is dead after after several tweets on immigration:
Mexico has the absolute power not to let these large “Caravans” of people enter their country. They must stop them at their Northern Border, which they can do because their border laws work, not allow them to pass through into our country, which has no effective border laws.....
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 2, 2018
Mexico may have the power to stop the, but unless we can convince them to do so, we absolutely can’t control what they do or don’t do.
Therefore…
...Congress must immediately pass Border Legislation, use Nuclear Option if necessary, to stop the massive inflow of Drugs and People. Border Patrol Agents (and ICE) are GREAT, but the weak Dem laws don’t allow them to do their job. Act now Congress, our country is being stolen!

I completely agree with this. The border needs to be secured and Republicans must make good on their promise to give the president the funding, even if that means using the nuclear option to do so.
As a side note it sounds like Trump is, for the moment, not going to use the Pentagon to fund and build the wall. OR maybe he wants to strongly push Congress once more to grant him this funding, and when they fail to do it, give himself justification to take extraordinary means of getting the Pentagon to fund and build it.
Here is where he declares DACA is dead:
DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon... No longer works. Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!

Another thing I completely agree on.
I know some will say this was Trump’s game all along, that he was playing 4d chess with the Democrats and never really wanted to give DACA recipients citizenship. I don’t buy that. While I very much like the idea of DACA being dead, I think Trump would have definitely traded DACA citizenship for border wall funding earlier this year. I have no doubt about that.
But I guess much of that is moot now, assuming Trump sticks to his guns on this.
