Trump FREEZES DHS foreign trips to interview refugee applicants

El Presidente Trumpo is showing how he’s going to govern with forceful executive actions again as he calls for a freeze on DHS trips to interview refugee hopefuls.

From CNN:

The Department of Homeland Security is putting a temporary freeze on staff trips to other countries to interview refugees who want to come to the US, according to a law enforcement source.

The action, first reported by Reuters, comes as the agency awaits direction from President Donald Trump, who has made clear he plans on making significant changes to the refugee policy.

Halting these overseas interviews until further notice means the admissions process will remain in limbo as refugees await their interview with DHS staff.

“While US Citizenship and Immigration Services has delayed a number of upcoming trips, those trips have not been officially canceled,” Gillian M. Christensen, a spokeswoman for the DHS, said in a statement.

This is one of the ways that Trump can follow through on the promises he made during the campaign without messing with the Constitution, which many conservatives were worried about. He’s called for a “Muslim ban” on immigration but is now receding into legal shortcuts like this one to avoid being challenged legally on what would otherwise be constitutional dubious acts. But can he keep it up?
